Awww, you featured one of our boys! Our national team’s nickname is “The Azkals”. It means “half-breeds” Most of our players are half filipino and half something else.
We are currently trying to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. Wish us luck!
Ahahaha! I got my slang words mixed up. Azkal doesn’t mean “half-breed”, it means “street dog”. Our national team likes to this nickname because street dogs are resilient, aggressive and loyal, just like them. So, there!
And if you’re wondering what the filipino slang for “half breed” is, it’s “Aspin”.
