Updated:Hala Clean Sheets! And so much more

28 Sep

Yes sir, we’re moving along quite nicely in the Champions League group stage! There were a couple big misses, we were never leading in possession, made a few mistakes, but we did score 3 fab goals, made some awesome saves and came away with the win. Oh and a certain someone FINALLY made their Real Madrid debut! Let’s take a looksie at all the prettyful pictures, shall we?

First off, the boys wore black armbands in honor of Chus Pereda, who passed away this week at the age of 73. He played for Real Madrid in the 57/58 season, during which they won the League title and European cup. He also helped Spain win the European Championship in 1964. R.I.P Chus.

"Is he under the bench?"

Match Mystery….where in the world was Jose Mourinho? He’s still serving his UEFA match ban, I think he has one more game to sit out, so we got to see a lot more of Karanka and Rui on the bench yesterday, certainly not a bad thing. I think the Fox Soccer commentators were a little more than excited to find out where Mou was last night, talking about his hiding place during the Dinamo game & letting everyone know that the Spanish media still hadnt found Mou in the Bernabeu..oh boys, sorry you were let down! There never was a Mou sighting 😦

45 seconds into the match, I was having a mini heart attack! Ajax was verrryyyy close to scoring the opening goal, but San Iker to the rescue! Amazing save made and I could breathe again. That clean sheet was muy importante to Iker because he was hustling in his box, clearing, saving, stopping, & showing everyone why he’s considered the #1 goalkeeper in the world. WOOT SAN BANANA!

Something I didnt appreciate? Commentators calling Ozi a “lightweight” when he was clearly getting some rough shoves, FSG may not be our biggest player but he does not go down easily! We know our German is tough! Go on bebe, do your thing!

"That's some tough stuff right there!"

15 minutes in and we had effort but no finish. Benz & Kaka made there way into the Ajax area but no goals…yet. Sami was workin’ it and set Benz up with what could have been amazing goal but nothing, still 0-0. I take notes during games sometimes because it makes me feel important Im a nerd and I wrote down “BIG miss” after Benz’s mistake, followed by “sloppy, sloppy, sloppy”. Little did I know that soon, one of the amazingest displays of teamwork was gonna go down! First things first though…Carvalho, tsk tsk tsk, got a yellow card for a handball and also it must be said, Vermeer was making some splendid saves himself.

Vermeer, bravely, took down Cris as he sprinted his way towards the goal and a couple seconds later stopped Sami too. Such a forceful froggy man!

"Not the booty, not the booty, not the booty!"

Ok so NOW we can talk about that BEAUTIFUL display of teamwork! THAT’S how you do it RM! At the 25 min mark…ugh I cant even, just watch.

The video gives me goosebumps! SO many passes, so much talent! Tiki-Taka who? HALA MADRID!!

Benz with the assist!

15 min later we got another one! Kaka scored at 41′ with a Cris assist! Did you see how unbelievably  happy they were to have an excuse to love each other up on the pitch? They almost couldnt be interrupted for half time, no doubt they took the lurve to the lover locker room…

"I love you so much, I dont care if I scare the Watishistas!"

"Thank you Lord, I needed that lovin...goal."

With a couple more minutes left til half time, Criska STILL couldnt get enough of each other. Hey teamwork was a big part of the first goal, why not try holding hands for the third? 😉

"That was wonderful."

A couple minutes into the 2nd half we got our 3rd goal of the night! This time it was Benz’s turn to score, and who assisted him? Kaka. Love does him good right? Its so sweet to see how happy Benz looks when he scores, he just seems like such a little kid so pleased with himself. Or is he pleased with who he’s hugging?….Anyways, its adorable!

I got my eye on you Benzira…

Oh never mind he wants BOTH Germans! Or Germenz 😉

But poor Benz got injured shortly after 😦 They say it was a groin injury, looked painful, and he was subbed off & made way for Mr.Bootylicious, Pipita. Di Maria also came on for Kaka at the time.

Moments like these, we all wish we went into Sports Medicine *sigh* Well Im a designer, maybe I can design a new sports cup that only I can fit them for…tmi? I dont care! 😛

Battle of the Booties

With about 7 minutes left of game time, guess who made their debut? Altintop! Ozi made way for the guy that I was beginning to think  would never play!

You throw up your best gangsta sign, Hamit! You’re part of the family now.

More brilliant saves from our Captain.

The luscious locks we all love..

Bebe Varane! Look at those legs!

And some Arby for y’all!

Update-Post match comments:

Karanka: “Kaka has, frankly, had a rough time. He is a quality player and it is very important for us to see him happy and enjoying himself because it means he will be an essential player on this team. He is the first one who deserves to be fit. The rest of us simply have to stand by him and support him.”

“Having Alonso, Kaka and Ozil together on the pitch was different today. On Saturday they all played in midfield. Tonight Ozil played closer to the wing. A quality player like him adapts to anything.”

“We wanted to put pressure in attack at times and also in defence. You have to use your skill at making that transition when you face a side that keeps so much possession at the start of the match. It’s true we allowed Ajax to have more possession after scoring our third goal, but we never experienced danger.”

“Benzema said he was feeling some pain and we’ll see how that evolves. We didn’t want to take risks, but it doesn’t seem to be anything serious.”

Sergio: “Having great replacements and playing at a high level with them says a lot about a team. Mourinho is the one who has to administer the squad throughout the season, which is long. He sees how fit we all are and how we feel animically. He decides. We’re always excited to play and it’s clear we are on an ideal path and that we’re doing a good job.”

“We were looking forward to seeing Kaka playing this well and to see people acknowledging the hard work he’s done. There’s been a lot of talk concerning him and he’s proving to be having a good run. We are very happy for him.”

“Varane is very young and he played at a high level. He proved he has a place on the team. He is a great footballer despite his young age and may reach very far.”

Kaka: “I’m enjoying football again. I don’t feel any physical problems any more. I feel magnificently well and I’m sure I will continue to improve. I want to succeed on this team”

“We feel good about the game.  We gave a very good performance and obtained a good victory. We must keep this up. The team responded well to our previous complicated results in the league. We now want to defeat Espanyol and stay on this victorious streak.”

“Our next Champions League match will be against Olympique Lyonnais at the Bernabeu. It will be important for us to win in order to seal our pass and leave our opponents to fight for qualifying for the next round.”

Iker: “Ajax looked to have chances to score and to keep possession. They were a serious and solid opponent. We played rather well and I think all of those who play make it difficult for the coach to choose. Ricardo (Kaka) played very well and that’s what matters: that a player is in good form to help the team.”

“We pulled off fast counterattacks, which allowed us to have many chances on goal. Cristiano scored from a beautiful team effort. We did rather well.”

“We must be calm and win our home games. We must now think about our matches against Espanyol and Olympique Lyonnais. By defeating the latter we would have a foot in the next round.”

“We’re human and make mistakes. I’m delighted to receive the fans’ affection. I will assume my mistakes and try to smile when they happen.”

“Real Madrid feel pressure to win this championship since we won our ninth European Cup title. We can win our tenth, but it won’t be easy and we have to face up to every encounter. We will fight for it, but it won’t be easy.”

Altintop: “I’m happy for making my debut. I had a good rehabilitation process after the surgery and I felt good tonight. It’s not easy, but I’m going to take things slowly to help the team.”

Carvalho: “We’ve already taken six very important points. This home victory will help. We will also face Olympique Lyonnais here and we want to seal our pass to the next round as group leaders.”

“I feel better from my head injury. I am also very happy for Kaka. The rest of the team is too. It’s important to us all that he plays at a high level. You can tell he feels good on the pitch and that helps us all do even better. Varane is a confident defender despite his age. He is a great colleague to have in defence.”

Butragueno: “It was an important victory for us. We obtained an extraordinary result and Cristiano’s goal was the blueprint for how a counterattack should be carried out. The other two goals were also very good.”

“Our next games will be key. Our match against Olympique Lyonais will be crucial and we must always give solid performances at home. Ajax had a good start to the game, but we are very dangerous up front. Kaka gave a great performance. He moved well between lines and participated actively.”

AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I MISSED THIS!! SEXIO GOT NEKKID FOR US!

Thanks to FuckYeahSergioRamos for the screencaps (its all in the name)

WOOT! So the next match is Sunday, away at Espanyol. Let it be another 3 points for us! HALA MADRID!

This match is my favorite so far.

I was scrolling down and saw Crissy’s creepy face and your caption had me cracking up! (And we watishtas thought Kaka had insane potential!) Then I saw Hamit’s voodoo eyes and then Kaka’s Hulkomania goal celebration. If I were Ajax, I’d be afraid…very afraid!

But Kaka and his angelic face while sitting on the pitch just won me over again. This was his match!

I saved that picture of Kaka too! I just adore that man. I love him and Sergio, although the things I do to Sergio in my head I just can’t do to Kaka! Haha!

Niiiice…you found a couple with his tongue out! I love you too, Maisougio! 😀

        Excellent post! 🙂

Iker: “I’m delighted to receive the fans’ affection.”
I’ve got plenty more for you Iker!! Call me, anytime 😉

And I’m even willing to sacrifice myself to give Benz a massage for his sore groin….*ahem*…

I burst out laughing at “Germenz” 🙂 Great recap of a great game!

I watched the game with my Real scarf on, in like, 27 heat! <– Dedication! 😉
And fangirling over the fact we know know when Kaka finally snaps and tries to take over the world (which we KNOW will happen, don't even try to deny it!) he has an evil partner in crime! Whoop for #crazyfaced CrisKa! XD

  5. Mais September 28, 2011 at 9:04 pm #

Lovely recap Maisoun. Great work! This match was so Criska themed. Thoroughly enjoyed that. 😉

    LOL at “San Banana” 😆
Hpmh, Real can be so unprepared sometimes..they could’ve just called and hired me as their groin injury specialist right there on the spot!

Sergio’s face is so smooooth 😀 (even though I like him scruffy as well) the shirtless photos of him (*drool*) look very reminiscent of young Sexio.

I was wearing my brand new (literally had come in the mail the day before) Kaka jersey all day yesterday. I just KNEW he’d be an important part of the match!!!

I absolutely loved how Cris was motioning for everyone to join him in his celebration before he slid on his knees! Then Ozil jumped on Benz’s back and Cris stood up and immediately hugged Benzil and Kaka.

San Iker once again proved why he’s my hero….

The Fox Soccer commentators really pissed me off, but not as much as Roy Hudson (GolTV) usually does. That man seriously must have “I hate Madrid” tattooed on his body about 13 times.

Benz’s goal kind of cracked me up because he was totally off balance, looked like he was waiting for the rebound (when it deflected off the defender), and then he just looked so happy!

Xabi and Sami logged a ridiculous distance during the match. I love our midfielders.

And Kaka’s goal was quite fabulous as well. THAT is the man we bought from AC Milan! I love him. He does not scare me… Though I thought I’d spontaneously combust in his presence in Philly…

Um… Does anyone else want to sing “I Want To Break Free” by Queen when they see Freddie Mercury, I mean Hamit Altintop?

    • mygypsyspirit September 28, 2011 at 11:05 pm #

And did anyone else notice Benz’s little makeout session with Kaka’s neck while celebrating his goal?

    • Maisoun September 28, 2011 at 11:09 pm #

haha Altintop looks more like Michael Imperioli to me…Mascherano is my Freddie Mercury!

      • mygypsyspirit September 28, 2011 at 11:40 pm #

You’re SO right about Michael Imperioli! I completely forgot about him….

Oh God no… NO NO NO. I cannot compare Mascherano to Freddie. That is blasphemy to me. I adore Freddie, and Mascherano is… bleh

    • conflictedinspain September 29, 2011 at 8:24 am #

Yes, those Fox commentators pissed me off all night long! If they said RM was playing “sloppy” one more time… Plus the constant harping on Mesut for being (in their words) a “lightweight”. Then they go and make fun of the fact that he “never” plays the full 90 minutes (like, with actual laughter!!!). And they kept praising Ajax throughout the whole match, calling them the better side, even when they were down by 3 goals! Sheesh. I actually love Ray Hudson because of his total love for Mesut… 😉

      • AnnaBuena September 29, 2011 at 1:13 pm #

Oh my gosh!!! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who noticed how anti-RM those commentators were! They were seriously pissing me off during the game. I gave my TV the middle finger a few times when they would say awful things about our boys. Argh!

  8. Tania September 28, 2011 at 11:02 pm #

That Cristiano scary face made me cringe
I couldn’t watch the game I was in class 😦 but as soon as I could I googled the results and the picture that came out in the page had to be scary face Ronaldo. I would still do him 😀
I’m really loving how our boys are playing 😀
And I loved this post it felt like I actually watched the game
