Oh, the CL Cup dropping possibilities! The boys are making their way & getting closer & closer to bringing home another title. I’m so excited. And I just can’t hide it. I’m about to lose…no I’m about to write this post without singing at y’all
With a 1-1 aggregate score, CSKA had the chance to take the game…well until our boys got to scoring, then the game was all ours. The match started off with both teams looking for the first goal. Doumbia, Cristiano, & Kaka all came close to scoring but missed their early chances.
Twenty six minutes in & the mighty power of the booty triumphed over Moscow to put net our first goal! Yes! Booty rules!! Kaka assists rule too.
The first half ended with an opportunity for Pipita to score once again but the score remained at 1-0.
Cris brought us this wowsa shot from outside the box in the 54th minute, an exciting moment for us & a real bummer for Chepchugov.
The biggest chance for Moscow came in the 66th minute when Doumbia took on Iker 1-on-1. He had a completely open goal to shoot into & missed badly in the end.
Benz came on for Pipita in the 70th minute and Pirata came on for Kaka in the 76th.
How do you like them 33 second goals? Our Benz is just fabulous like that, scoring from the first ball he touched!
The 80th minute was good for Moscow and bad for us, Necid scored for his team and we lost our clean sheet. Iker didn’t really have a chance with this one, Necid sent a long distance rocket straight for net behind our Saint.
The final goal of the night scored by Cris & assisted by Benz. Benz was really on for 20 or so minutes he played, he easily could’ve put that one away but passed it on to Cris. Teamwork is love y’all.
Woohoo and that was it! Can I just say PRAISE THE LAWD we avoided Quarterfinal clasicos with Friday’s draw!!! We’ll take on Apoel FC & we’ll see what kind of fight they put up…

Post Match Comments:
Mou:
“What matters is being in the quarterfinals and we have to wait to Friday’s draw to see whom we’ll face.”
“I expected the game to be what it was. CSKA were true to their culture and didn’t take risks. They played a tight game in defence and caused danger with their four forwards in fast counterattacks. Despite them having some chances we always dominated the match. We didn’t give a spectacular performance but we played a serious game. The match was practically finished when we were 3-0 up, but we were a little worried in the final minutes. Nevertheless, it was Madrid’s match throughout.”
“Xabi Alonso is a great and very important player for us, but we’re not going to cry about his yellow card. We’re solid in midfield. Granero and Lass can easily play with Khedira and Nuri, whose spirits we’re trying to raise. Alonso will rest and will be able to play all league games. He will be fit to the end.”
“Higuain and Benzema scored, but what matters is that we played as a team and won. There are no debates. Both Higauin and Benzema played well.”
“Kaka gave a spectacular performance. He had his best years in Italy, but he’s never worked as hard as he does now. It’s normal to feel tired by the 75th minute when you work that hard. He did a fantastic job and I am very happy with the way he plays.”
“I don’t think my team suffered in defence. We started the second half the same way we started the first because a 2-0 score was important to us. We suffered in the end because the whole team slowed down, not just the defenders. CSKA created some danger, but Pepe, Ramos and the full backs gave us a great sense of security.”
“I go all out in every match. I could think about using rotations and some have to happen, such as the one I’ll have to do regarding Alonso. It’s normal for us to change two or three players, but the league is still the most important championship for me even though the Champions League is something altogether different. The winner in the league is the best team in 11 months and we will not give anything away.”
“Beckenbauer is one of the most intelligent and experienced men in football and I think he is being intelligent by pushing pressure away from his team when he says he wants only either Real Madrid or Barcelona in the final. Bayern Munchen can defeat anyone and they are a strong contender for the title.”
“Many other teams have much smaller stadiums that are usually empty, so we are grateful that 70,000 to 80,000 people pack ours. Real Madrid are what they are in part due to their fan base. Everything else regarding the crowd is cultural. Some protested, but we respect that and don’t criticise it.”
Benz:
“I was calm. We all knew what had to be done and we all gave a great performance.”
“I no longer have physical problems. Tonight was a good match for all. We reached the quarterfinals, which is good for Real Madrid.”
“We are a team. We’re all important here and I’m very happy about Higuain’s goal.”
“I don’t really mind whom we’ll face in the quarterfinals.”
Marcelo:
“We didn’t do too well in the first half, but we positioned ourselves well after half-time and scored more goals. We knew we hadn’t done well in the first half and the coach always helps us improve. We understand what he wants.”
“Xabi Alonso is a very important player, but others are too, so we’re not worried about his yellow card and we will try to win as we always do.”
“We don’t have any preferences. We’ll have to do well against whomever we face in the quarterfinals.”
Sergio:
“There are no favourites. Everyone should be respected because they’ve reached this far for a reason. There have been some surprises, but we’ll have to wait till Friday to see whom we’ll face. It wouldn’t be a problem if it was Barcelona.”
“We moved better, found more room and created more danger in the second half. Whatever we say during half-time stays in the dressing room. We made changes and improved.”
“We’re happy because our three strikers are having a great streak. Karim scored again after his injury and competition is good for the team. It’s apparent in training because they are all very good.”
“We will miss Xabi in our next UCL game because he is essential to us, but no one is indispensable. Other players are waiting for their chance to play.”
Some Pony in motion for you guys, courtesy of Lozil.
Pipita:
“I’m happy for reaching the next round and because I scored in an important game. I’m happy for the team, for my teammates and for reaching the quarterfinals, which is what matters.”
“I was never worried about my future. I’m at ease and my mind is set on what remains of the season. We’ll see who our opponents are in the next round, but in order to win the title you have to defeat every team.”
Xabi:
“The match was open until we scored our second goal, but we felt more comfortable in the second half, especially after Ronaldo’s strike.”
“The seven other teams that remain in the championship deserve to be here. The draw on Friday will be interesting, but the quarterfinals will be very exciting regardless of who our opponents are. There are now easy games left and if the draw determines we should face Barcelona we will fight to the very end.”
“I had doubts about my booking on the pitch. It’s a shame, but the game was open and I took a risk. It’s not a big deal.”

I finally got around to logging in so I could comment!…let’s see if my avatar pops up..
There were so many pics to choose from with this match, more than usual, the photogs were on fiyah!
To be honest- Chepchugov was the best player for CSKA. Again. The poor boy didn’t deserve that
Your captions are hilarious! Thanks for the laughs!
Going off-topic, I was wondering of anyone has a video clip of the end of the Chelsea-Napoli match, when Di Matteo mugged our Nando? Once the final whistle blew, Di Matteo ran onto the pitch and hugged Drogba something fierce. They he spies Nando walking by, runs up behind him, and grabs Nando’s neck using the crook of his arm. Nando was totally unaware and his head jerks in surprise.
Here you go – 2 still shots and a gif:
