Our beloved capi posted this shot on Facebook saying it was a shame about today, but we would try again next year, that they would now concentrate on the league and with our help it will be easier, etc. All the things you would expect a captain to say. But he also thanked us all for our encouragement “and above all: many thanks to Cristiano, Sergio Ramos and Kaka for being brave at a difficult time! You are great! There’s no doubt about it. Hala Madrid!” Super classy, Iker especially since I know how hard you beat yourself up about losses. That’s why you’re captain – you’re thinking of everyone else’s needs first and bolstering your team. Thank you for being you and being such a beast in goal. We love you. (I’m guessing that Shiggers thinks that the back up plan is to use Kaka to kill everyone on Bayern in revenge which is why Iker is winking!)

my adoration for him knows no bounds. what a selfless and humble thing to do, especially, as you quite rightly say, he’s probably beating himself up for not stopping those shots. love him so much!
I love San Iker. Now and forever. We are so incredibly lucky to have him as our capi.
My heart goes out to Pony, Cris and Kaka. I can’t even imagine how horrible they must be feeling.
Oh Geeker, what a wonderful captain. I was just watching Sergio’s interview, along with Mou’s, I wondered how it is that they are so calm, even smiling a bit when answering questions. Maybe there’s a sense of wisdom and serenity that comes with doing all that they could, and knowing that they played a wonderful game, and that everyone was behind them. I guess on these days they know that ruminating on the game won’t change the fact that it was, as they say “a lottery”, so they are at peace with themselves and can begin moving forward. Either way, I will always be there to support these wonderful men.

Two fingers with palm facing in is the British middle finger. I’m sure Iker doesn’t mean it that way, I was just trying to be funny.
I can appreciate the humour! I adore his energy in trying to bring his men up. My love for him knows no end.
I have a love/hate relationship with penalty shootouts, but you have to admit being able to watch Iker and Neuer go head to head was fascinating. That was about as even as you could get in terms of great goalkeeping. Feel very sorry for Iker being on the losing end this time, but you can’t win them all bb. Actually anyone know the last time he’s been on the losing end of a penalty shootout? We can include games with the Spanish NT.
i woke up feeling a bit better this morning, and this almost set me off again (since when was i such an emotional wreck?!) the fact that iker is probably absolutely gutted, yet he’s busy consoling other players and cheering up kaka is just such a credit to iker as a person, i don’t think i could have any more respect for him as a person right now… that picture is completely adorable

What worries me about this picture is that Kaka’s smile is not really in his eyes. I think he is faking it, trying to keep it together but somewhere deep down he knows he’s out of place in Madrid, otherwise Jose wouldn’t leave him on the bench so much.
