UPDATED AGAIN: Speaking to the Big Men on Campo

25 May

In today’s presser news, we got to hear from Iker, Silva, and Bruno, while VdB’s was separate.  It looks like it’s a little too early for Silva & Bruno, but I have no complaints, daydreaming looks good on them! Bruno looks like he’s either going to try and make that bottle levitate or he just really wants a swig.

Iker:

If Spain gets the win against Serbia, Casillas will equal world record for victories with a selection, which currently owns Thuram, with France:

“Every time you get that data, I know through the press. If successful, happy, is a new record, but these things will be missed when time goes by and take a look back. “

On the injuries of Villa & Puyol – “we have a different call than there were in recent years. But I think it’s exciting because it gives the opportunity to coach see that young people have the opportunity, because they have done enough to get in the Absolute. it is important for the national team, and the coach will have enough players to choose who will represent Spain.”

“The injuries to ‘Puyi’ and ‘El Guaje’ (Villa) have been a hard blow, but this team has the players capable of occupying these positions and they can deputize, however, the feeling is that these are two very important injuries.”

“The other countries already know how we play, they don’t need to study us. They are playing against the champions and they will be in top form to make the game their own.”

“The national team, though, has more than enough in our play. The main rival will be ourselves for the effort, the desire and the attitude that we have to win it.”

“We have the experience of winning the Euros and the World Cup and we have to take advantage of this, although it will be very difficult to defend our title as champions of Europe.”

On Spain’s limited preparation time -

“If Spain makes a worthy and important role and get the title, we will not remember the preparation of the Euro. If on the contrary, may come the excuses. Anyone can print and either is acceptable. It is a different concentration, but that does not make it worse. There is no need to dwell on it because all the members of the squad have known each other for a long time now. In general, the block and the group remains in these four years. To this day I’m not in an office, but in the future if I can help I will. It is a subject of the Federation, the League … unite for the good operation of the League and also help the national team player. “

Silva:

On VdB calling him the Spanish Messi -

“More than pressure, that is a compliment.”

“Messi is the best player in the world, the fact that Del Bosque says that helps me to continue to work and to continue playing my game and adapting it to the national team. I want to play my part in this team.”

On the Serbian team -

“We saw a video about them yesterday, they are a dangerous side, they like to attack a lot.”

“We do not know if they will play the same game. If they do not take a defensive approach, we could play our game.”

Bruno:

“Since I arrived I felt embraced by all and my feelings are good, after the coach trusted me after the year we have had in my club. Training the best to help my fellow teammates. I see a great turnout, I do not think these players who have won everything get tired of winning and achieving success. This is a European Championship and I see very hungry , with that feeling to keep winning games and championships and I try to help as much as you can. I notice the group strong, united, with great atmosphere and I think that’s important. I know that entering the final list is difficult. I try to learn from my experiences. Being here in the national team is a exciting experience, and not in the list of the Euro would not be a failure. I respect the decisions of the coach and try to help here. “

UPDATE: Bruno fixates on something other than the beer bottle in front of him!

2nd UPDATE: More pretty Silva!

VdB:

On Villa’s injury -

“We had experience with this type of injury but we didn’t want to hamper his efforts. Everyone was telling us he was doing very well in his physical preparation and everything would be fine for the national team so this has been a setback.”

“There were also those who said he wasn’t going to arrive, but I knew he was very special. He has been vital in winning the EUROs and the World Cup so it isn’t strange that we were hoping we would make it.”

“Before the World Cup and now there has been optimism and that is healthy. They are putting us as favourites and we can’t hide that. This is the reality but we know there are very strong countries and we have to fight like sportsmen.”

“When you make a squad or a line-up you always hurt someone because you can’t play everyone so imagine how it must feel to not go to the European Championships. In the training sessions it has been as if everyone was going to continue.”

“They are a high-quality squad and you can only pick 23, but they have to use this feeling as an incentive for the future. Some of them had already gone on holiday but have come here and been brilliant, I can’t have a single complaint.”
