We knew this was going to be a tough match to watch given our boys had to go up against each other, actually I like to see them go all up against each other but in a different way, and adding penalties into the mix made it an even tougher thing to endure! I have a love/hate relationship with penalty shoot outs, on the one hand they can be exciting and on the other it kind of sucks that a match is decided based on luck rather than skill. AND I DON’T LIKE TO SEE HALF THE BOYS CRY!!! Of course I’m beyond happy that La Roja is in the finals, but it’s been a heartbreaking couple of days for Madridistas/Portugal/Germany fans. There was just too much talent in the Semis, there was going to be disappointment no matter the outcome.
It was during the pre-game that things were interesting & entertaining, the Spaniards in their pretty blues & reds and the Portuguese in their sexy greens.
Gah the first 90 minutes were so dull! Play, foul, free kick. Play, foul, free kick. In total, Spain committed 21 fouls & Portugal, 31. Things did get pretty brutal at times, at one point it seemed that everyone was going to receive a yellow card, ref was giving ‘em out like candy.
A back injury for a back injury, oddly it was teammates being mean with each other!
After lots more blah play, changes started to be made, which made the game a little less blah but still goalless. Cesc came on for Negredo in the 54th minute & Navas came on for Silva in the 60th.
I think I’ve seen enough penalty shoot outs over the course of last season, across multiple leagues, and during this tournament! I desperately didn’t want the match to go into extra time, like it wasn’t thrilling enough, but alas, it did…though La Roja did start to pick things up right about then.
Iniesta was the one with the biggest chance to save us from going to penalties, but DAMN IT he was just shy of the goal.
To a penalty shoot out we went, but not before Iker showed us a little sum sum…honestly, how lucky are we to be the type of people who can find entertainment even in the most boring of matches? I’d say we’re all some pretty amazing peeps, pervy as hell, but amaysing.
Care to see the many faces of a shoot out? Which of you are more crazy, hair pullers & which of you are more mellow & silently praying? I’m a bit of the first & last pic.
And if you don’t want to watch again, the shoot out order was – Xabi (miss), João Moutinho (miss), Iniesta (goal), Pepe (goal), Pique (goal), Nani (goal), Sergio Ramos (goal), Bruno Alves (miss), Cesc Fabregas (goal).
Xabi missing the opener just about made my heart sink but Iker’s save against Moutinho brought me back to life, let’s not do this again for the finals PLEASE!
You know it’s a celebration when the bebes are brought out! Arbie looks cute with a little boy, that’s his nephew he’s carrying, maybe Alba will have a baby brother soon if La Roja do some celebrating on Sunday

No baby for Sergio, but he’s his mama’s baby. Adorable smoochies!
Thank God we have pervs around the world to help us out because without Watishista Jellyace’s booty radar, we never would’ve spotted Nando’s firm, muscular tush, sitting in the far left corner of the pic!

After this game I’m just finished with the Euros it’s a fun and games until your team gets knocked out of the tournament then it turns into pain and tears. I really wanted Portugal to win this thing god dammit why does Iker have to be so perfect and why does Sergio score penalties when I don’t want him to. Why couldn’t he do this in the Champions League and mess up here. I kinda want Italy to win so no one wins we all lose equally and they can go back to Madrid and console each other. I can’t wait for pre-season to start I miss seeing them all in the same team and not fouling each other.
I apologize for not having any crazy, drunken stories from that bar. The best I have is that the guy next to me was yelling obscenities at Cristiano every time they showed him on screen. Adam was getting rather upset and started yelling at the guy. It’s not easy being the only four Portugal fans in a bar in Spain…
OK, Watishista Jellyace is gonna have to explain how she came to the conclusion that there was some Nando booty in that last pic. I’ve been staring at that spot and I don’t understand how she figured that out. Girl, that is some, um, talent(?).
AND THE BEBES!!!! AHHHHHH! Alba and her little cousin are adorable, and Jon is as perfect as his daddy. But where was Ane? And Sergio deserves all that love for being such a brave boy with that penalty.
They change clothes while seated in their assigned spots in the locker room, which are in numerical order. Pique is photobombing (and this pic is from his tweet). So going from R-L: #6 = Iniesta; #7 = Pedro; #8 = Xavi; and #9 = Torres (who is showing off his tidy whities)! You can see a bit more in the pic posted by Iniesta: https://twitter.com/andresiniesta8/status/218104862162960385/photo/1/large
Oh and notice Iniesta isn’t wearing his shorts!
Jellyace, I salute you.
Shit girl. You got after that!
i have a thing for backing the underdogs, so i was gutted for portugal
my heart was breaking for coentrao.
Cris and the boys played such a good game for the first 90 minutes, and penalties are always a lottery. Never mind, we can only go forward…. but, now Portugal’s out of the running, we won’t see any more of the really cute technical staff member I [eventually, after a lot of googling] identified as Ricardo Peres, goal-keeping coach. Oooh he’s nice….I like grey hair on a young-looking guy. Yummm…
I was so touched that after a difficult but victorious battle, our brave warriors seek out their mamas (and wives and kids) for a big hug.
I’m just glad I didn’t have to watch this game alone. My heart was in bad shape… not beating in normal rhythms. Xabi’s gol being saved was an awful feeling. But Iker’s save could not have been more perfect. I watched the PKs the day after and still felt nervous. Not near as bad, but still nervous.
