Italy Meet The Press, Return Home And Visit The President

2 Jul

Cesare Parandelli, classy as ever, met with the press and said how proud he was of his team and their achievements. Damn straight, sir!

His smile never wavered as the team headed back to Rome. He was gracious to fans as were the rest of the team. No tears in sight today.

They were greeted in Rome by adoring fans who brought pictures of both team and coach. They needed that love and support and I’m so glad they got it.

The team then met with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano at the Quirinale presidential palace in Rome and received his congratulations.

They posed for a group photo and then, being fabulously Italian, had a celebratory toast. Ah, I love this team. FORZA AZZURRI!

In other news, Mario Balotelli is going to be a father. His ex-girlfriend Raffaella Fico found out that she was pregnant in May but waited to tell Mario the day before Italy played Germany in the Euro 2012 semi-final. He is reportedly quite happy and considering he scored 2 goals in that game, I’m guessing that must be the truth. The timing of the announcement was, erm, awkward to say the least (maybe she could have waited a week or two?) but, eh, not my business. It’s between them. But best of luck to them. I’m so pleased with how Mario handled himself this tournament and perhaps becoming a dad will further mature him. I wish them both the best of luck and look forward to seeing their undoubtedly adorable bebe.

Gigi Buffon, just the name itself oozes suaveness- if that even makes sense. Seeing his knowing smile and bright eyes just make me happy 🙂

I am still not 100% sure why, but I’d give Montolivo a wink and a nod. Moving to AC MIlan, he is.

My cousin from Barcelona told me today: “Poor Italy, all that effort four-nothing!”
