Mazel Tov: Mesut Ozil Joins Twitter!

9 Jul

I’m always hesitant about posting these sorts of things, but Mesut announced it on his Facebook page, so it’s legit (and Arbeloa confirmed it). He’s on Twitter! Whooo! Oh and remember this piccy of him and Sergio?

At the time, it was said that it was Real Madrid’s equipment manager but Mesut posted it on his FB account saying “You cannot silence me. I always say the final word :)))” So I guess it was him Sergio had tied up after all. Excuse me while my mind goes off to bad places.

Thanks to Maisougio for the Mesut heads up – I hadn’t had a chance to look over Twitter or FB today as I was trying to get my tickets sorted for RM vs. AC Milan.

And he’s already gotten the Arbeloa shout out! That’s like the Twitter seal of approval, right there! =D

    • headbandsandheartbreak July 9, 2012 at 11:58 am #

      I know, right? It’s like, son, you’ve arrived! ;-)

      • jellyace July 9, 2012 at 2:12 pm #

Confirmed by the Twitter King? It must be legit!

  2. Sasha Twen July 9, 2012 at 11:59 am #

I kind of hope it’s legit, but his last facebook message had babelfished German in it. If that’s truly his official facebook person on there, he needs to get somebody else for the job. :(

    • headbandsandheartbreak July 9, 2012 at 12:02 pm #

      Arbeloa confirmed it.

      • Jenny July 9, 2012 at 4:35 pm #

Arbeloa may have fallen for it. The forensic Mesutscientologists in his comm are withholding judgment for now.

His German is bad – but not that bad.

Also – that pic he posted earlier isn’t him.

BUT…it could be him or one of those freaky relative who won’t leave him alone.

        I hope it is!

    • Jenny July 9, 2012 at 10:29 pm #

I’m so glad his fans (or rather, people like you and me) have come to an actual consensus on the type of crap German we’ve come to expect from Mesut.

      Fucked up verb endings? Occasionally!

      Babelfish? Not yet!
      :P

I have been waiting so long for him to join Twitter since I don’t have an FB, this makes me ultra happy :-D

  4. Bombay Talkies (@BombayTalkies) July 9, 2012 at 1:24 pm #

His team must have posted that Sergio pic, because it’s absolutely not Mesut in it. It’s Manolín, one of the equipment managers. It doesn’t look remotely like Mesut–the hair, the face, the hands, all different. If you look at a pic of Manolín you’ll recognize him right away.

And this is Una confirming that it’s not Mesut:

Honestly I think PR teams should be forbidden to touch players’ social media accounts, all they do is make a hash of it. I knew the second I saw that photo on his FB wall that it didn’t come from Mesut.

    • headbandsandheartbreak July 9, 2012 at 1:26 pm #

Well, that’s what I thought based on all that stuff from before as well. Not sure why he would let someone put up the picture if it wasn’t him though. Or make what sounds like a personal joke, not something a PR team would be talking about. It’s weird. PR teams usually put up generic crap.

    • headbandsandheartbreak July 9, 2012 at 1:37 pm #

PS I’m not doubting you, I just think it’s really weird.

      • Bombay Talkies (@BombayTalkies) July 9, 2012 at 1:50 pm #

Not that weird when you have an incompetent PR staff (ie your random family members posting stuff for you). Most of the stuff his PR puts up for him (or Nike) is cringe-worthy.

        • Bombay Talkies (@BombayTalkies) July 9, 2012 at 1:53 pm #

(I guess Nike’s stuff isn’t so bad…but it’s pretty obvious when it’s not him posting. Especially when the German is poor–that’s a dead giveaway. And the photo with Sergio definitely isn’t him–you’d think his dad/Serdar/whoever has the password to his account would have noticed that.)

          • Jenny July 9, 2012 at 10:30 pm #

I’ve decided to blame Serdar – just because.

            • Bombay Talkies (@BombayTalkies) July 10, 2012 at 12:08 am #

I blame Serdar for everything. Eurozone crisis? Blame Serdar. Mario Gomez’s hair lacking proper bounce? Blame Serdar. Cable’s fucked up? Blame Serdar.

                LOL

                I love you bb.

              • GourcuffLover July 11, 2012 at 3:56 am #

Your comment had me LOL so hard…Who is Serdar btw?

                • Jenny July 11, 2012 at 10:56 pm #

One of his creepy, minimally employed male relatives. They never leave him alone. Der Spiegel wrote a highly sympathetic piece on the problems Ozil’s family are causing for him business-wise, but also personally.

                  http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/mesut-oezil-germany-s-international-football-star-in-the-making-a-840820.html

The article is two pages long. Happy reading. It came under some discussion in his comm. Unbelievably, the German is far worse. The translation makes his relative seem less officious somehow. But it’s bad enough.

                  • GourcuffLover July 12, 2012 at 1:43 am #

Wow! Im surprised someone of his caliber would let people that dont know the first thing about P.R manage his career. I guess he IS that nice.Well hopefully too nice doesnt get him trouble.
                    Thanks for the reply.

        • drea July 9, 2012 at 3:26 pm #

Mesut needs a professional PR team, stat. I still haven’t gotten over that photo shoot with the floral, um, jodhpurs (?) that his dad was so excited about. I just hope he’s going to be doing all the tweeting himself, and with lots of personal pics please, like Sergio. :-D

          • Bombay Talkies (@BombayTalkies) July 9, 2012 at 3:37 pm #

Yeah I cringe at the thought of his dad and various relatives managing his career. I hope he wises up sooner rather than later about what a horrible idea that is.

          • jellyace July 9, 2012 at 11:13 pm #

            Isn’t Oscar Ribot now a PR free-lancer?

            • drea July 10, 2012 at 12:37 am #

Wouldn’t it be funny if most of Oscar’s new clients turned out to be from RM anyway? ;-)

              • jellyace July 10, 2012 at 11:01 am #

I should hope so. #1 client would be his buddy Esteban Granero.

  5. Ula R. (@afagrey) July 9, 2012 at 2:56 pm #

I’ve read that this account isn’t real either… Why?? :( And why so many people believed that it’s him in the photo? How can Mesut be confused with anyone else? :P

    • headbandsandheartbreak July 9, 2012 at 3:14 pm #

Why would it not be real if it was on his official Facebook and Arbeloa confirmed it?

      • Ula R. (@blue_eyed188) July 9, 2012 at 3:22 pm #

That’s just an info according to some ppl that sounded really convincing… I’ll be sure when he put some pics that can’t be found on the net.

      • drea July 10, 2012 at 12:31 am #

I think there might be something to the fake Twitter and Mesut’s Facebook getting hacked story. The other fansites have also picked apart his second-to-last Facebook post and they say it’s fishy. Either Mesut was drunk-Facebooking (well, he is in Vegas after all) or he’s forgotten how to write in German AND he’s rehashing fuzzy old photos of people that are not him AND he’s developed a liking for mega-smiley emoticons, all at the same time. As for Arbi, maybe he saw it on Mesut’s FB page and assumed it was real as well? I guess we’ll know in a few days.

        • drea July 10, 2012 at 12:50 am #

Wait, want to add that it also seems unlikely that his PR team posted that. They may not be pros, but to use a low-res photo (of the wrong person!) that’s obviously been lifted from the web instead of the many good ones they’re sitting on is beyond weird.

          • Jenny July 10, 2012 at 1:46 am #

Idiot boy should hire the members of his LJ comm. We know him better than he knows himself at this point.

        • GourcuffLover July 11, 2012 at 3:52 am #

Wait, wait , wait his IN VEGAS!? Oh I just died at the thought of him being in neighboring state and me not being able to stalk him…Um I mean ask for a picture or something. Oh life is un- fair. Must fly to Vegas Now.

          • GourcuffLover July 11, 2012 at 3:53 am #

I meant to say neighbor hahaha…How did I put boring in their? Must be thinking about my summer with out football!

  6. MesӦ July 10, 2012 at 10:51 am #
