I’m always hesitant about posting these sorts of things, but Mesut announced it on his Facebook page, so it’s legit (and Arbeloa confirmed it). He’s on Twitter! Whooo! Oh and remember this piccy of him and Sergio?
At the time, it was said that it was Real Madrid’s equipment manager but Mesut posted it on his FB account saying “You cannot silence me. I always say the final word 
))” So I guess it was him Sergio had tied up after all. Excuse me while my mind goes off to bad places.
Thanks to Maisougio for the Mesut heads up – I hadn’t had a chance to look over Twitter or FB today as I was trying to get my tickets sorted for RM vs. AC Milan.

His team must have posted that Sergio pic, because it’s absolutely not Mesut in it. It’s Manolín, one of the equipment managers. It doesn’t look remotely like Mesut–the hair, the face, the hands, all different. If you look at a pic of Manolín you’ll recognize him right away.

Honestly I think PR teams should be forbidden to touch players’ social media accounts, all they do is make a hash of it. I knew the second I saw that photo on his FB wall that it didn’t come from Mesut.
Well, that’s what I thought based on all that stuff from before as well. Not sure why he would let someone put up the picture if it wasn’t him though. Or make what sounds like a personal joke, not something a PR team would be talking about. It’s weird. PR teams usually put up generic crap.

Not that weird when you have an incompetent PR staff (ie your random family members posting stuff for you). Most of the stuff his PR puts up for him (or Nike) is cringe-worthy.
(I guess Nike’s stuff isn’t so bad…but it’s pretty obvious when it’s not him posting. Especially when the German is poor–that’s a dead giveaway. And the photo with Sergio definitely isn’t him–you’d think his dad/Serdar/whoever has the password to his account would have noticed that.)

The article is two pages long. Happy reading. It came under some discussion in his comm. Unbelievably, the German is far worse. The translation makes his relative seem less officious somehow. But it’s bad enough.

Mesut needs a professional PR team, stat. I still haven’t gotten over that photo shoot with the floral, um, jodhpurs (?) that his dad was so excited about. I just hope he’s going to be doing all the tweeting himself, and with lots of personal pics please, like Sergio.
Yeah I cringe at the thought of his dad and various relatives managing his career. I hope he wises up sooner rather than later about what a horrible idea that is.

I think there might be something to the fake Twitter and Mesut’s Facebook getting hacked story. The other fansites have also picked apart his second-to-last Facebook post and they say it’s fishy. Either Mesut was drunk-Facebooking (well, he is in Vegas after all) or he’s forgotten how to write in German AND he’s rehashing fuzzy old photos of people that are not him AND he’s developed a liking for mega-smiley emoticons, all at the same time. As for Arbi, maybe he saw it on Mesut’s FB page and assumed it was real as well? I guess we’ll know in a few days.
Wait, want to add that it also seems unlikely that his PR team posted that. They may not be pros, but to use a low-res photo (of the wrong person!) that’s obviously been lifted from the web instead of the many good ones they’re sitting on is beyond weird.
