Wonderful, wonderful news! Robbie Rogers is returning to the game he loves. He’s signing with the LA Galaxy and will be the first out player in the major leagues. All the best to you Robbie! May you be the first of many.

congrats and i wish him all the best because many of us know it won’t be easy as fans can be idiots he’s in my prayers.
I was so happy to hear this news! I wish him the best of luck and hope he’ll have the easiest time possible. Also, I’m so glad you guys posted it here because I know people will view this positively. The comments at Dirty Tackle made me want to crawl into a hole and cry.
I’ve never come across a more miss matched blog/poster situ than dirty tackle. Their whole set up is funny, snarky, intellegent shit, poking fun at sacred cows with humour and piss taking at folks who take themselves too seriously…and the comments are peopled by humourless turds who think inclusion is offensive. I like to think they’re the ones who are missing the point x
Totally agree. Brooks is very smart and funny and I’d guess progressive from the way he covers stuff, but the comments section is a nightmare. I think because it’s on Yahoo a lot more people come across it by accident. If it was an independent blog it would have a much more self-selected readership.
God, the comment section made me sick to my stomach. Just appalling.
He’s incredibly brave! I’m so proud to be a fan during this time, so we can all look back in 10 years and say,”how foolish that we thought that was a big deal!”
Hey! See Gareth Thomas….Im sure you know him already, he’s a bloody Welsh folk hero, and he likes men, and do you know what? NO ONE GIVES A FUCK !! XX
I didnt explain myself well there, I just wanted to say I was there when GT came out, and my rugby loving boys were like…So?
I hope Robbie gets that too…
I know nothing about welsh rugby, but good on him! It’s wonderful to live in a time where we can be who we are, one step at a time.
We’re big fans of Gareth here and have written about him and homophobia in sports many, many times. He’s AMAZING.
