The Daily Drool: Juan Agudelo

5 Mar

USA! USA! USA! Sorry, all. Had to get that out of my system. Colombian born Juan Agudelo (November 23, 1992 – Sagittarius in da house!) came to the US at the age of 8 and grew up in Barnegat, NJ.  He’s currently a forward for the New York Red Bulls.

More USA! USA! USA! Muppetness, ahoy…

Young Juan started with the New York Red Bulls Academy and it was clear that he was a talent. In 2009, he was asked to join the junior team, but instead chose to do a trial with the Colombian team Millonarios. He returned to the US in 2010 and made his official debut with the New York Red Bulls in April of that year.

He participated in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup and in 2010, he joined the US U-20 national team. He was called up to the senior team on November 17th for a friendly vs. South Africa in Cape Town. He scored the lone goal for the US win. Look at his face just after he scored! He can’t believe what just happened!

Juan was just 17 at the time. This made him the youngest player in national team history to score a goal for the senior team.  We’ll be keeping our eye on this little Muppet in the future. Big things are on the horizon!

USA! USA! USA!
