National Team Goodies, Granero, Mou, PIPITA!

23 Mar

Lots of little bits and bobs today as international duty continues… Since Spain took first billing today, here’s a nice picture of Karim’s butt and profile.

Karim, Samir Nasri and Hugo Lloris arrive for training.

They look very effortlessly casual and …French, don’t they? And by that, I mean fashionable and hot (even just their backs).

Mesut makes a high jump and Sami is finally visible in the background.

And now for a leetle Spanish action… The following two pictures come courtesy of unamadridista’s Con La Roja blog. Here’s her fantastic update on the National Team’s activities in the last 2 days.

This is what I love most about our boys. They hold hands. Apparently, it’s some sort of training manuever, but it works on so many levels!

I see you holding hands in the background, Sernando!

And speaking of Saint una, she once again did us a solid. She took the time to translate all of El Pirata’s Real Madrid TV interview. Thank you a million times, una. Fans of Los Blancos and La Roja would be lost without you.

I see that the Real Madrid photographers used their patented make up mirror shot again. I feel like I should send them to Photojojo or buy them the Photojojo book for Christmas to get their creative juices flowing. Sheesh!

The interview is great with the exception of one very insensitive comment that I’m surprised to hear coming out of the mouth of someone as smart as El Pirata. You’ll know it when you see it. I trust una’s translation skills implicitly so I’m sure it’s what he said. I just hope it was something that came out wrong rather than his world view. 😦

In other Real Madrid news, Mou did a press conference and said two things that made me extremely happy.

First and foremost, he had this to say, which made me squeal with delight:

“Gonzalo Higuain played a practice game for the first time today. I used players from Castilla in order to have two sides of eleven players each. He played 60 minutes divided in two 30 minute halves. He’s not fit yet, obviously, but he’s walking. I don’t know if he’ll be ready to face Sporting, but he’ll be ready soon if not. We would welcome his return. It will be important to have him in order to face the many games we have yet to play until the end of the season.”

PIPITA! PIPITA! PIPITA! HALA PIPITA!  Mou went on to say:

“I’ve never hidden my desire to return to England some day, but there are three more years left on my contract and I intend to see them through and to work hard to make the Board, the fans and the players happy. If I manage to do this I will see those three remaining years through and maybe even carry on with a new contract. I currently feel everyone is happy with the job we’re doing. Real Madrid is my near future.”

I don’t want him to return to England any time soon. I want him to stay put and work with us. At least he is open to sticking around and also possibly renewing his contract. As I’ve said before, letting him go would be an incredibly stupid thing. You can read the rest of the interview here.

So that’s just a little update… Oh before I forget – please read una’s great post on racism in Spanish football.  And also, I’m sure that it would be greatly appreciated if you took a moment to send a note of support to her for speaking up. This problem won’t go away any time soon unless people take a stand. The blogosphere is powerful – it’s a way for the common person to have a voice – and we can make an impact. So show some support and let’s get a grass roots movement going. This sort of attitude is NOT okay and should not be tolerated. Make your voice heard.

I’ll have to feature him then. What frustrated you over there today? I had a shit fit when I went over there and saw Martin Vingaard. I had already scheduled a post weeks ago with him as The Daily Drool for 3/29 (I do TDD posts well in advance and pre-schedule them). They even used the same picture! ARGH! So I had to replace him with someone else hot. I’ll have to use him sometime in the future though.

Ruh roh. I just got into it with my least favorite cule over on Kickette. I can’t stand to read her posts – she’s rude as shit. I have so many cule friends and they never act like dicks. This lady, however, is a one woman “I hate Madrid” trash talking extravaganza. Grrrr! Argh. Okay, I need to calm down. I’m going to watch America’s Next Top Model and eat ice cream because I can and they can’t! 😉

Ya it was like a war zone, I have many barca friends and none are like that. I mean I will admit that Barca is a great team but those ladies just think Madrid is some sloppy team full of just lookers. Well Im sorry but looks dont get you to 2nd level on La Liga only 5 points from Barca . Anyways ya im gonna go get some Bellinis with my hubz have a good night 🙂

Exactly. That’s what I said. Great team, but give credit where credit is due to our team. None of my cule friends act like that. I’m sure they’ll get all up in my face tomorrow. They’re like trolls. It’s really sad that they just can’t talk about the game without being tools. Sometimes people like that come to una’s site and it bums everyone out. Especially since there are so many nice/cool Cules who hang there. 😦 As I said to the woman in question “Did you only cheer for the Barca players on La Roja?” I mean, I guess it’s the same sort of shit mentality that allows people who were so proud of Spain winning the World Cup to bottle Iker Casillas when he’s wearing a Real Madrid jersey. It’s sad. Enjoy your Bellinis!

oh, so glad i avoidd the kickette today. but let me guess the post and poster who caused the row. it showed up on my fb feed and i was all, oh HELL no. and yeah, she gets outta control sometimes.
onward and upward, i know exactly what view point of el pirata’s that you are mentioning and i was SHOCKED :dead: over that little comment. i’m hoping it just didn’t come out the way he was thinking in his head or something. and of course he mentioned pilar 😦
oh please football gods, let pipita come back. please, please, please. i miss him. and kickette refering to him as shelf booty. which is so true! sending good, healthy vibes #20’s way!!

Yeah, when she started with the Franco shit, I lost it. I’m sure she’s going to have a go at me tomorrow. I’ll be interested to see if I get my arse kicked off Kickette. She’s been around and commented more than I have but still… She’s always picking fights and it sucks. It brings the whole tone of the place down.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was floored over that comment – it was so ignorant especially considering his sister in law is Chinese. It must have come out wrong. He seems like such a thoughtful young guy. How can he not understand that’s offensive?

I miss Pipita like a mofo. I could barely keep myself from doing a happy dance when I read that part of Mou’s press conference. HALA PIPITA!

I don’t think you will get thrown off kickette. That’s the only site I have seen that people come and say what ever it is they want without any discipline unless there’s swear words.

I am so happy for Papita to be back!!! He’s going to come back strong I can feel it!!!

        Good night ladies 🙂
