Euro 2012 Qualifier: France vs. Luxembourg

26 Mar

Karim, looking grumpy and hot.

By all accounts, not a good or exciting game. The team is restructuring a bit with new coach Laurent Blanc and the return of Patrice Evra and Franck Ribery. It’s going to take a bit of time for everything to settle down after this summer’s national team horrorshow at the World Cup.

Pre-game, the team wore t-shirts in honor of their recuperating teammate Eric Abidal, which was a lovely gesture.

Samir Nasri was the captain of the night and he made a nice pass to Karim Benzema. However, Benz was offside. Bugger. On a completely shallow note, I’m not sure that I like France’s uniforms – they look weird like they forgot their regular jerseys and had to wear team polo shirts that they had laying around. What do y’all think?

Denied! A frequent occurrence for Benz this game.

Phillipe Mexes headed the ball in at minute 28′ off a Nasri free kick and then the only other goal of the game came at minute 72′ courtesy of Yoann Gourcuff. Final score:2-0

After the match, Coach Blanc said “Offensively, it was not a very good or very powerful performance. But we must make a comprehensive analysis”.  Continuing on, he commented “in saying that, we missed percussion, but there was little space against Luxembourg”.  So not the greatest of showings, but they’re getting used to each other again and developing new strategies.

Ya Im not so sure I like those jerseys either…makes them look like they all work at SeaWorld…not a good look. I like these shirts though, which shouldn’t be worn without berets, raspberry berets to be exact 😉 http://pikchur.com/ADeM

Very sassy–much better than the Sea World Ts.

I love the striped kits that Jean Paul Gaultier designed (I mean, you can’t get more French than that). They’re perfect. The best thing that I can say about the “Sea World” polos (good call, Maisougio!) is that they are tight and show off Karim’s shape nicely. Other than that…
