Just When I Thought It Couldn’t Get Any Worse…

2 Apr

I’m not ready to talk about the game just yet. Not by a long shot. But I have to tell you what happened post-game. First, I’m going to take a quick minute to appreciate Manu’s abs because that’s about the only thing I can appreciate about him today. JAY-SUS. Anyhow, I left the pub in tears and proceeded to the grocery store to pick up some Ben & Jerry’s and beer so I could drown my sorrows. As I was paying, I saw the cover of the New York Daily News. “TERROR TEACH!” it blared. It was the cover story about a Brooklyn art teacher who allegedly made remarks that she was going to “settle some scores” and threatened some Columbine action at the school. She was arrested yesterday. What did she choose to do her perp walk in, you may ask?

A motherfucking Real Madrid Champions League jersey. SERIOUSLY, UNIVERSE? NOT FUCKING FUNNY. It’s on the front page of the paper and the article within just in case you couldn’t see the escudo clearly enough. I have that damn jersey! ARGH.

Cosmic joke? I guess.  Funny? Not right now, damn it. I’m going to go eat ice cream and weep. I’ll talk about the game later.

pina coladas not helping the hurt 😥

neither is my college baseball team sucking it up tonight and judas rossi’s team not beating barca 😥

Much choco didn’t help me. I refrained from watching sports for the rest of the night. I’m feeling a bit better this morning. We will move on from this. I just know it. And hey, now the pressure is off – no unbeaten home record to defend, no Mou’s 9 year streak we have to worry about – we can just play,

That Daily News photo is harsh blow to my already fragile emotional state 😦

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 2, 2011 at 6:20 pm #

I cussed out loud in the grocery store when I saw it. I could not believe my eyes.

  3. GinaM April 2, 2011 at 3:22 pm #

I cried in my hubbies arms lol I’m staying in today with ice cream

    • GinaM April 2, 2011 at 3:26 pm #

Also he said we don’t have to watch barcelonas game even though he’s their die hard fan. Atleast I don’t have to endure that

      • headbandsandheartbreak April 2, 2011 at 6:20 pm #

Now that is a good husband! I woke up from my nap hoping that Barca had lost. No such luck. It sounds like they played like shit though. If everyone is this tired after international duty and we’re playing a game every three days in April, what the hell is the quality of play going to be like by the time the Copa and El Clasico roll around? Argh.

        • shiggers April 3, 2011 at 8:17 am #

We’ll recover. I didn’t have to watch the game (funny–never thought I’d say that), so I may be overly optimistic, but we have some damned good players and they usually rock. They all just had way too much fun celebrating Sergio’s birthday and now need to get on with life.

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 2, 2011 at 6:18 pm #

Yeah, my men Ben and Jerry will console me as well. 😉

    • suzanne April 2, 2011 at 9:08 pm #

awww, you have a GREAT hubby…mine just said, “you missed the pool for that?!” and shook his head

  4. Notoriousjk April 2, 2011 at 3:51 pm #

Well I shall be drinking white russians & eating cadbury chocolate & stare at my Nasri jersey & weep. At least you won’t have to read about or hear about your teams mental frailty or how your captain is surely going to Barca. Uggghhhh, and sucks to you too. 😦

  5. Notoriousjk April 2, 2011 at 6:36 pm #

Why couldn’t Barfa at least lose today??

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 2, 2011 at 6:45 pm #

I know, right? Fate couldn’t be that kind to us. At least we have Pipita back and that is something.

    Hi girls,
Perhaps this is not the most appropriate time to make my first comment, but I literally just found this blog and I feel that my sadness has begun to evaporate. I thought there were not a blog as entertaining as Una’s, but this comes close. You collect all my topics of interest in only one place: RM, Iker, Die Mannshaft, Nando, Mesut, Pipita… If you profoundly despise Xavi and Victor Valdes, then this blog will be perfect.

Now, keep strong, girls! La Liga is probably over, but we still have a lot fight this season. Kisses from your new fan…

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 2, 2011 at 6:52 pm #

Aw! You are so sweet! I’m glad we could do our little bit to help you feel less sad. Your comment did the same for me! 🙂 I think Xavi is a great player, but a wretched little goblin who smack talks and is just generally horrid. Valdes is a Grade A-1 douche BUT he’s hot (sadly). I find him appalling. But people having been requesting him as a Daily Drool along with other peeps I can’t handle (aka Zlatan), so I was telling Hermosa Chica that we’re going to do a special week of ‘ballers that are hot but evil (in our humble opinions). I think we’ll call it Villains & Douches Week. 😉 We had Muppet Babies Week for the baby ‘ballers, so this will allow us to feature those we might not necessarily like personality wise, but who throw a good Blue Steel. Thoughts, people? (and nominations – I have 3 candidates already – I need 4 more).

Anyhow, welcome moviefashion! We’re happy to have you join our little family. You’re right – who needed to win stinky old La Liga anyway? We’ve got bigger fish to fry. Barca can have one trophy – we’ll take the other two! HALA MADRID! xoxo

bendtner…seems like a tosser, but really cute 🙂

        • notoriousjk April 2, 2011 at 9:49 pm #

can we nominate most of the Arsenal squad?

        • headbandsandheartbreak April 2, 2011 at 9:53 pm #

Good choice, suzanne. Adding to the list.

Notoriousjk, I am so freaking sorry about today. 😦

          • Notoriousjk April 3, 2011 at 9:12 am #

Aaron Ramsy can be left off since he really hasnt been around to contribute to the disgrace

      • shiggers April 3, 2011 at 8:20 am #

Evil but hot…I love the idea!

Mou’s impeccable behaviour after the game cheered me up. If he can put a smile on his face, walk onto the pitch to greet his players, visit the Sporting dressing room to congratulate that team – then we can do the same – smile, and pick ourselves up off the floor.

Mou’s a champ, in every way. And I’m sure he’s told the boys that 3 points are 3 points no matter where they are lost – and he doesn’t care about his record (which is true, he doesn’t – he’s always said so).

As for the photo – oh lord – I have to admit I just began giggling hysterically when I saw it. You have to admit, it is utterly hilarious in the abstract. I’m betting it’s a knock-off anyway.

I mean, for us to lose a Bernabeu winning streak is one thing – for us to do it when a picture like that ends up on the front page.

The gods are mocking us – just give in and have a laugh.

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 2, 2011 at 7:25 pm #

Mou was a class act today. He was a complete gentleman and a gracious loser.

Yeah, it’s definitely funny in an absurdist way. It just figures, right? My jaw hit the floor when I saw it. I. Just. Could. Not. Believe. It. (There is a huge part of me that is dying to know what player’s name is on the back.)

  8. Maisoun April 3, 2011 at 12:17 pm #

Well that Terror Teach cover successfully creeped me the fuck out…seeing the RM jersey accompanied by handcuffs scares me enough into behaving at a RM meet & greet.

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 3, 2011 at 12:56 pm #

Oh there’s more pix of her today. I’ll post them later. Now they’re calling her Machine Gun Milo! Well, I’m glad that she scared you straight – now I won’t have to save up as much bail money. 😉
