London Bound and Other Bits

12 Apr

The boys had the last practice before taking off for London and I’m happy to report that Sergio’s hair has some movement.  After the reappearance of the gel, I got concerned…

So who is making the trip? 21 men were called up for the game…

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Adan, Dudek
Defenders: Carvalho, Ramos, Marcelo, Albiol, Arbeloa, Garay, Nacho
Midfielders: Kaka, Granero, Alonso, Canales, Di Maria, Ozil, Khedira
Forwards: Adebayor, Ronaldo, Higuain, Benzema

It’s good to see Sami and Benz back. Nacho (Alex’s big brother) has been called up from Castilla. If the following five players get a yellow card tomorrow, they will get a one game suspension: Cristiano, Raúl Albiol, Di María, Sergio Ramos and Carvalho. Since the next game will more than likely be against Barca, expect to see some of these guys sitting on the bench or being extremely careful. Lass, Gago and Pedro Leon are injured. Pepe is serving a one game suspension.

Tomorrow’s game will be Mou’s 500th as a coach! He said “I would like to reach the 600 mark with Real Madrid; it is the greatest club in the world”

Real had a good article today on how our players have scored against Tottenham in the past and it includes some great shots of them with their former teams:

Mourinho, Alonso, Dudek, Arbeloa, Carvalho, Lass, Granero, Ronaldo and Adebayor have all been victorious in North London

Nine current Madridistas know what it is like to win at White Hart Lane. Mourinho, Carvalho and Lass did so with Chelsea, Dudek, Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso with Liverpool; Granero with Getafe; Cristiano Ronaldo with ManU and Adebayor with Arsenal.

Mourinho defeated Spurs on their home turf on three occasions while head coach at Chelsea. Ricardo Carvalho and Lass played for Mourinho at Chelsea in the last of the three matches, which corresponded to the FA Cup quarterfinals.

As members of Liverpool, Dudek, Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa all left White Hart Lane with three points in tow and all did so in different years.

Granero scored in his only visit to Tottenham Hotspur. Getafe traveled to White Hart Lane in the Group Stage of the 2007/08 Europa League and El Pirata knocked in the equalizer en route to Getafe’s 1-2 win.

Cristiano Ronaldo beat Spurs four times at Whites Hart Lane and scored once, while Adebayor has notched 10 goals in 15 official matches against Tottenham, four of which were played at White Hart Lane.

Some other quick bits: The wonderful unamadridista has provided translations of the Real Madrid TV interviews for Antonio Adan and Marcelo.

New wa-tishista! Mais (not to be confused with Maisougio!) found this terrific picture of Sami celebrating his birthday on Tumblr.

The rumors are already starting about Chelsea selling Nando back to a La Liga team in the summer transfer window.

There’s a new LiveJournal community all about Mou.

And finally, as ever, Ray Hudson provides much needed humor (sorry, Canadian wa-tishistas! but he’s right!). These are my favorite Rayisms from Saturday.

The man is a treasure, I tell you!  Also according to tweets by Arbeloa and Sergio, the team arrived in London just over 2 hours ago. HALA MADRID!

Yeah! “Happy birthday, my friend! Enjoy this gross wet finger I’m about to stick in your ear after we throw fake gang signs at the camera!” At least it wasn’t a Wet Thumb Willy (which is what Sergio and Cris probably give).

Oh you can confuse me with Maisougio if you like! We’re practically the same person! And equally as awesome of course.

    Okay objectives of this message:
    1) Post 1 photo and 2 videos ONLY I SWEAR
    2) Tell you about my dream because I am DYING to tell someone, and don’t know where else to go hahaha.

    1) Have you seen this one of Ozil getting massaged? Hahahaha what are you doing to the poor boy Lozil? He’s about to burst from all the giggling!
    2) Seen it? Haven’t seen it? I don’t know but here’s something you can add to the ‘why they should stick with football’ column except The Serg, he’s good (well I think so at least)

3)Okay I just woke up from a Sergio/Ozil dream (no! Not like that! For SHAME girl, for SHAME!) And I have a massive need to tell someone. Alright so first part is the Ozil part, I was at uni and he was sitting there behind this stall and he was promoting his new movie or documentary or something. And it was going to happen the day before my biochemistry test (the dates were actually true) so I was hesitant about whether or not I should go (as if! I know.) so I just approached him, there were already people there and told him my problem, I also must’ve cracked some majorly hilarious joke because he honestly couldn’t stop laughing! There were like 5 of us and we were ALL laughing our heads off. I’m funny even in my dreams. He looked something like this: (have you guys seen this photo before? hahaha I actually like how bizarre the shirt is)

Then it skips to me on a plane with my family but they’re all sitting in different places. And before I know it little Sergio is standing next to my seat bobbing down to be at the same level and I’m explaining his health statistics to him like fat composition, blood pressure, weight, height (I study nutrition, so that’s where that came from) and he had filled out the booklet and I was going over it with him. I was saying stuff like ‘oh yes your weight is healthy, fat composition is just right, your blood pressure is 82 but it’s supposed to be 80 (it’s actually supposed to be 120/80. 80 would kill him! But dream Mais esta loca) and then I just randomly looked up at him and started touching his hair and said ‘you’re just perfect, it’s all good in here’ (can I just take a moment to laugh at how subtle I was?!!) He was dressed in a grey suit and looked fantabulous. Exactly like this: So then the scene skips to when we land and we’re saying good-bye to people in some hall, my uncle was there and I was saying goodbye and then I was trying to get to Sergio because I wanted to see him before he left (we spent the whole flight chatting and pretty much became my amigo). I spot him hugging my brother so I walk there, he sees me approaching and smiles, then my mum cuts in and goes ‘please stay for a while! And then shouts ‘DO WE HAVE BREAD?’ in Arabic to my Dad who’s in the kitchen or something. I was DYING to get his email or something, something that would help me to stay in touch. Just as he was deciding whether he should stay for a bit or not, I woke up. Because I’m an idiot!!! I actually woke up because I was thinking in my dream about how awesome this dream is. Does that even make sense? No matter how much I tried to recapture it, it was gone 😦

Okay the end. I promise not to post anything until after the match because you’re probably sick of me and I seriously can’t blame you. xo

LOL! Great dream! “DO WE HAVE BREAD?!” That would totally happen to me. I’ve never seen the Ozil massage photo or that hilarious compilation of Real Madrid players singing. I have seen the Sergio Flamenco one though – he does sound good! Poor Iker and all video cameras should be banned from karaoke bars! Cris in the car was adorable. And Drenthe!

I’m going to repost these and credit you if you don’t mind!

Oh no, I don’t mind at all! 🙂 okay THAT was my last comment.

A couple of years ago Ray H. said these words in reference to either Messi or possibly Kun Aguero (can’t remember now): “He’s engaged to brilliance! What’s it going to be like when they are married?” He said it right after whoever it is scored a crazy awesome goal… It may even have been Forlan. Why can’t I remember?!
