So Many Mazels! (And A Ton Of News)

13 Apr

Our beautiful boys progress to the semifinals of the Champions League! Other teams: Barcelona, Manchester United and Schalke (Whoooo Raul!) Full disclosure: This is going to be one short recap, because I have a snootful of Guinness in me. I was out celebrating the Champions League win and the impending nuptials of my dear wa-tishista! Shiggers and her man, ginboonmiller (WHOOOOOO!). Her bachelorette parties will be at the US-Spain match on June 4th and hopefully, the Real pre-season matches on the West Coast. Speaking of US vs. Spain – the pre-sale dates were announced tonight!

Are you excited?! I sure am. I’m a member of the USSSC so Shigs and I are going to be waiting by the phone at 10 AM on Friday morning to get tickets.  Here is the seating chart and prices. Once we see how many people get tickets, we should try to organize a Boston HB & HB meet up either before or after the game.

In other news, the Spanish FA confirmed today that  Spain will not be playing at the Copa America so as to give the players a rest. Thank god! It would have been too much.

As for today, this picture really says it all. It just breaks my heart because Gomes is a good goalie and Tottenham is a good team.

It went right over his bloody head. He tried to save it, but it was too late.  We were already so far up on the aggregate that the goal was almost an afterthought.

Argh. I wonder if Nando was at the game? I mean, he lives in London and his team was knocked out. I wonder if he showed up to hang with his boo?

Cristiano’s 50 minute goal (on an oh-so-painful mistake from Gomes) sealed the deal and a little Crozil action was seen (it’s been too long without it!)

Is it my imagination or is Cristiano looking extra tan today?

What made us all angry is that Huddlestone bloodied our darling Xabi…IN THE FACE! Shiggers went ballistic! Not in the face!

Here’s Sergio puckering up and sending Masougio a big fat kiss!

Well, I definitely over-socialized. Please forgive me! I promise that I will post more (coherently) tomorrow. HALA MADRID!

    • notoriousjk April 14, 2011 at 12:05 am #

also wanted to add, somewhere in a dark room Almunia laughs (and then remembers Mad Jens & cowers) at Gomes

Nando is probably so pouty about now Sergio refuses to hang out with him

    Okay here’s my 2-cents-worth:

    1) I have sent 5 massive dogs to feast on the referees intestines as we speak.
    2) I am SO proud of Sergio for holding it together for 45 minutes and managing not to get booked.
    3) I am also annoyed that people keep saying ‘oh he just didn’t live up to the game, and he didn’t give his best’ HE WOULD GET SUSPENDED IF HE GAVE HIS BEST YOU GITS!
    4) Here’s a little hilarious photo of Mesut from the game: oh he is just adorable as! (just an Aussie experession (or should I say Ozi?) we just don’t finish our similes but still expect them to convey the same meaning)
    5) Sergio… oh Sergio.

      forgot 6.

      6) I am SO jealous of the US matches I am going to curl up into feotal position and weep until I turn 55.

Okay, sorry for TRIPLE posting, but I just have un petit peu question:

I was twittering it up and I saw this tweet from Bale and it totally ticked me off (no I don’t follow him, hells no! Someone I follow retweeted it):

garethbale03 @SergioRamos Followd! How are you going to stop Messi? LOL, have a safe trip back, had fun having u guys around, haha work on ur English 😛

Was the first part him dissing Sese or am I being majorly sensitive about this? It just seems like he’s saying ‘you couldn’t stop me, how will you stop Messi?’ and once again: He couldn’t freaking do what he wanted because he’d get booked! Is that too much for people to understand! As for the second part: Well he’s working on it Bailey! Like he said ‘ingles poco a poco’ (I thought Lozil would create a whole new post for Sergio’s first English tweet! ;P).

Sorry again about this. Maybe you should create a category and name it ‘Mais’s crap corner’ and it’ll be a place were I can vent/share things I come across. Haha. Hope you’re fine ladies! x

    • Maisoun April 14, 2011 at 8:40 am #

hmm…Im sure Bale was just kidding around, I mean even with the little English Sergio knows Im pretty sure he knows how to talk shit with other players! I dont know, I like to think it was just banter between the two but if Bale WAS intending to be a little shit then I hope Sergio will reply with something like “Tu y Messi puede besar mi culo” haha but that’ll never happen 😦

And that wasnt Sergio’s first English tweet!!! Where ya been? 😛 His first English tweet was the ever famous, “please be patience with me, some help is going on” when he addressed his English speaking fans right when he joined twitter ❤ He has actually replied to some fans in English too!

      • Mais April 14, 2011 at 9:01 am #

OMG WHERE THE HELL WAS I?! I knew about him replying to fan tweets in English but not that patience one! Oh my goodness that’s so epic! I’m getting that tattooed on my arm. Ahh he just kills me. SORRY LOZIL MY (massive) BAD! ❤ and I hope you're right about Bale. Ps: my reply to Sergio's last English tweet was SO enthusiastic/creepy. I think I scared him, therefore don't expect and more English tweets in the near future.

        • Maisoun April 14, 2011 at 7:00 pm #

Oh I think he’s dealing with all the enthusiastic/creepy tweets just fine! I’ve proposed to him & he still tweets in English so I think we’re good 😉

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 14, 2011 at 11:49 am #

Yeah, I think Maisougio is right – Bale was kidding around – he’s following him on Twitter and it sounded to me that it was in response of something Sergio said to him off Twitter. I like Bale alot – he seems like a good kid. As tough as these guys can be on the field with each other, many of them are good friends off the pitch. I mean, look at how tough the members of La Roja can be with each other, but most of them get along great. I wouldn’t read a feud into this.

  6. HermosaChica April 14, 2011 at 8:20 am #

    Wait, what? 😦
Is this the only match La Roja are playing in the US?
Damn. If only they pushed it up to September 4th, I would’ve totally been there..

Okay, I’m gonna go ahead and put this out there: wasn’t it oddly yet extremely arousing watching a bleeding Xabi with his lip being tended to?
..Just me being a freak? Okay.

    • Maisoun April 14, 2011 at 8:46 am #

Aww you should totally start your semester in the summer then so you can make it! Righty & Lefty in the same stadium would be EPIC haha 😉

And as for Xabi…a double major in Sports medicine sounds good right about now doesnt it? I just love how he thought to strike a pose while getting cleaned up! He’s like, “Yeah, Perfection bleeds, deal with it!”

      • HermosaChica April 14, 2011 at 1:46 pm #

Gaah I can’t! My last exam over here is on the 6th of June. It’s that and the fact that I’d much rather spend Ramadan with my family at home.

So basically, no Rghty&Lefty stadium action until afterwards. Wow, just imagine. That would be one perverted sector of the stadium! I feel sorry for whoever sits within a 10ft radius from our seats. 😆

I have a friend who wants to major in sports medicine/nutrition. If she ever gets hired by the RFEF, I’ll share any and all information I can squeeze out of her! 😉

        • Maisoun April 14, 2011 at 6:59 pm #

Aww you will be missed 😥 (I hope that doesnt sound like you’ve passed or anything..) But I will make sure to shout something EXTRA perverted at Sexio in your honor, if you have any suggestions let me know 😉

I’m so sorry for Gomes, he is not that bad at all. But I think his career will be marked by those ridiculous errors that he always makes at crucial moments. At time of goal, Iker seemed to lament the misfortune of Gomes, what I considered very class and kind for his part.

I love Cristiano’s hair. It was like he were in a gala evening and didn’t want to use his everyday hair.

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 14, 2011 at 11:54 am #

“I love Cristiano’s hair. It was like he were in a gala evening and didn’t want to use his everyday hair.”

This? May be the greatest comment in the history of HB & HB. That is a perfect assessment of his hair yesterday!

As for Gomes, yeah, no one wants to see another player lose out due to that sort of error and all those guys have been there before. It was painful to see that happen. 😦 I have a gorgeous picture of Iker consoling DeGea that I will have to post when I get home (I’ll add it to this comment) – he’s genuinely supportive of other goalkeepers.

  8. Gina M April 14, 2011 at 9:34 am #

What a game!!! This time I had to watch at work, couldn’t fake a sickness lol

    Congrats to Shiggers 🙂

I won’t be able to go to the Spain vs USA game as I am going to St Lucia for holidays, but for the Madrid games on the west side I will be there!!!

OMG I love Christiano’s hair like it, it’s sooooooooo beautiful,

I don’t think that is Gareth’s twitter because I saw a tiny interview after the game and Bale praised that the best team won,

Anyways bring the Clasicos on because I can hardly wait!!! I have a great feeling about this weekend, and I am dancing till then!!!! HALA MADRID!!!!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 14, 2011 at 11:55 am #

      Oooh, St. Lucia! Nice!

      • GinaM April 14, 2011 at 2:14 pm #

It’s my 3 year wedding anniversary, I am so excited to go I need a vacationnnnnnnnnnnnn so bad! Specially after all these Clasico’s

        • headbandsandheartbreak April 14, 2011 at 2:18 pm #

So does that mean you will be bringing the hubby? 😉

          • GinaM April 14, 2011 at 4:19 pm #

haha to St Lucia yes, to the Madrid game maybe but most likely with my sister, she has a huge crush on Christiano.

            • headbandsandheartbreak April 14, 2011 at 5:37 pm #

Ha! Yes, it would be good to take the hubby to St. Lucia. He’ll probably be glad if he misses all the squeeing at the Real Madrid game though! 😉

  9. Mais April 14, 2011 at 6:11 pm #

Okay Lozil, I came across this and thought I’d do a little sharing to make up for accusing you that you didn’t post something as seen above! So here you go, looks like it’s not only Sergio who gets all puckery, Mesut has needs too! He will be damned if he has to watch while Sese is all romantic and he does nothing for his girl!

ps: His lips are so pink and he looks so tan in this one!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 14, 2011 at 11:22 pm #

Thank you so much, Mais! 🙂 Mesut looks like Crispy dragged him to the tanning booth in that picture. LOL!
