A Few More Pix And A Word About Why I Do This Blog

21 Apr

Another view of Sami and Mesut – thanks to sabeth86 from loewsmiserables  for sharing this one!

Lass and Cris

In Mou We Trust (and with good reason)

Pepe and Albiol

Thanks to clauw at ramos_fans for this one!

Sergio was all up on Twitter posting the following picture of him and Cris with the Cup. He’s also claiming that he didn’t drop the Cup, it jumped! LOL! I love this man more and more with every passing minute.

Here’s another shot of the Cup mid-fall from the bus – oh, I’m sorry – mid-jump!

Apparently, the Cup is just fine, because it’s already on display at the Santiago Bernabeu. Doesn’t look bad for being pried from underneath the wheels of a bus not that many hours ago, does it?

I promise an actual post about the game itself a bit later, but first, I have to get something off my chest.

For those who don’t know much about me, I work full time in a very hectic job and I am also a full time graduate student. And then there is HB & HB. Whether or not it looks like it, I invest a great deal of time in this blog. Why do I do it? Because I love this team and the sport, plain and simple. I make absolutely no money off this blog. I do this to share information with other fans and to have some fun. Something happened early this morning that upset me greatly and when I woke up after a scant four hours of sleep, I went from sad to straight up PISSED OFF.

Last night, as you know, I was giddy as hell and to be honest, kinda tipsy. I was posting pictures willy nilly and was just so excited to share the joy of winning the Copa Del Rey. I’m a member of several Live Journal communities that are centered around various players on our squad. There was a particular picture that I posted here that I thought 3 specific communities would love. So I posted it and mentioned I had posted a ton more pictures over here with a link to the site. I figured that way, people could look at all the other pictures instead of me bombarding them with a bunch of stuff that they may not have wanted to see (group pix of the players, etc).  Two of the communities were thrilled to have the picture. However, in the third, the moderator sent me a rather abrupt note telling me that I was pimping my blog and to remove the link or the post would be deleted. It was about 2:30 AM when the message flashed on my Blackberry. I was just about to go to bed, but I logged back on to my computer, wrote a note of apology explaining that was not my intention and went to remove the blog link. However, in the ensuing 10 minutes it took me to get back online and write my apology, she had deleted my post. She also put up what I consider a rather nasty mod note about it. And then, injury to insult, she just reposted the same damn picture I had put up and added another one that I had on my blog here (her’s were from a different source, but…).  I mean, seriously, WTF?!  It’s the same bloody information! Admittedly, I did not see a recent post where she mentioned that she felt that posting stuff in this manner was pimping, so yes, I was at fault. However, I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that I wasn’t given time to correct my mistake and since none of us make any money off this, I’m not taking customers away from her or anything. I just was happy, drunk and wanted to share. I was made to feel like some sort of criminal and had my knuckles slapped. I thought the whole point of these communities is to share the pictures/stories that we found with each other and to have some fun. Apparently, not everyone feels that way. But a community’s rules are a community’s rules and I broke them. HOWEVER, information that I post here at HB & HB is often shared in that particular community and other places. So, if you choose to do this in the future, I would very much appreciate if you could please credit me and link back here.  Some people have done this and I am deeply grateful. I work very, very hard on this blog and I love it so much. When something like this happens, it makes me want to throw in the towel and just give up. And yes, it makes me hate fandom. Why bother to share information if you’re just going to get kicked in the teeth for it, right? I’m not trying to be a martyr here, but my feelings were definitely hurt and I thought the moderator overreacted. I won’t be frequenting that community anymore. I don’t feel comfortable sharing anything now. I will however happily share it with the other two communities. Okay, end of rant, but please, credit things you get from here. I don’t want to have to be a total dick and start posting HB & HB across the middle of every picture or something. Thanks for listening,  for your endless support and the wonderful amazing hilarity and joy you bring to my life daily. Love you all and HALA MADRID!

Ohhhh I’m do sorry to hear about that. Fandom has been so frustrating lately, causing me to take a long hiatus from writing. As I’m not a Madrista your blog is the only site I check. I love that it’s not only RM but that you feature news from other teams & other footie related stuff, so please DO carry on!!!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 4:23 pm #

I’m not going to let one poopyhead sink me! To hell with her. I’m bummed that fandom is why you are taking a hiatus – I love your writing! xo

    • kfunk22 April 21, 2011 at 7:37 pm #

i’m missing your writing too, jk. just wanted to state that on the record.

      • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 8:12 pm #

        Yeah! What she said!

      • notoriousjk April 22, 2011 at 12:15 am #

well I would like to state that I am looking forward to an update from you 🙂

Also you should catch up on all of kissmecait17’s wonderful stuff 🙂

😦 i’m angry on your behalf that this happened to you. what a horrible person for deleting your post and then putting up the same info. and for nasty emails. there is no need for that. if it’s not clearly posted that they didn’t like that, then that’s their bad.
i just want y’all to know, in case you can’t tell by my many posts since i found the blog, that i love what you do here. i use to start off my days at una’s and kickette until i found you guys. now it’s y’all and una only. thank you for all the hard work that is put into the site. big hugs and lots of love from louisiana 🙂

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 1:09 pm #

Well, in all fairness, they did have this in their rules – I just didn’t think putting a link to more pictures on my site as pimping. I would think pimping would be not contributing anything and saying “WHOOOOO! Come to my most awesome site!” so I guess it’s a matter of interpretation. Thanks for your support – it means the world to me. xo

If I could, I’d post a picture of myself applauding! Well said! I liked your post and removing it like that was bloody rude. Some people need to learn manners.

  4. derbis April 21, 2011 at 12:59 pm #

    *hugs*

What a loss to that community… which I absolutely adore despite the appear-only-once-in-a-blue-moon mod.. if it weren’t for that post I wouldn’t have known about this wonderful blog of yours!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 4:21 pm #

*hugs* to you to – I’m glad you’ve found us – we’re a pretty nice little group of deviants, if I do say so myself!

    Not nice, LJ mod…not nice.

We appreciate everything you do here, Lozil! This site is part of my daily “rounds” and without you (and Una), there would be less laughter and football-related joy in my life.

    Keep up the good work!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 4:17 pm #

Thanks, hon. Where have you been lately?! We’ve missed you!

      • Andrea April 21, 2011 at 4:56 pm #

Aww, thanks for the concern…it’s good to be back here 🙂 Just been busy at work…having to bust my ass before my trip to (cue the music) MADRID next month!

        • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 7:55 pm #

Ooooh! Madrid! I am sooooo jealous! You’re going to have a wonderful time. Are you going to do a tour of the Bernabeu? Will you get a chance to take in a match? You’ll have to give us a full report!

          • Andrea April 22, 2011 at 9:57 am #

I’m so excited!! Will definitely tour the Bernabeu, but won’t be able to catch a game unfortunately. And I’d love to share my experience with everyone here!

            • headbandsandheartbreak April 22, 2011 at 12:37 pm #

We’re gonna hold you to that! You’re going to have the best time! If you see any headbands in the gift shop, take a picture for us!

  6. derbis April 21, 2011 at 1:04 pm #

Here I’m totally pimping your blog in the comment 🙂 It may get deleted.. but who cares!

Oh wow, what a rude and silly thing to do. Don’t let it get to you too much, since people have the tendency to be stupid – this was clearly not your fault!
I also think that the online world and fandoms in particular tend to be slightly crazy, they really bring out the worst in many people. To me, it is about sharing the love and having fun, and all the bitching and the insults (at ONTD, for example) really kill the mood for me. Hence, I adore what you are doing here – this blog has quickly become one of my favourite sites to kick back and have a laugh (and enjoy the occasional glimpse of yummy manmeat). Thank you and keep up the good work!!!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 4:16 pm #

Thank you, sweetie – we want to make this a space where people feel comfortable and keep away from the brawling that characterizes some other sites. Fandom definitely can bring out the bitch-tasms in some people, as I learned last night.

I just want to take this time and tell you ladies how much I appreciate your blog, and now that I know more I appreciated every post, all the time you spend on it.

Every morning I look forward to your blog and also Una’s, last night I was a little bit tipsy on pink champagne but I kept checking your blog in with my blackberry and showing my cule hubbie. He likes your blog too, and I kept showing him the pictures you posted last night, we had a good laugh about Sergio and the bull fighter dance he did. Sorry that happened to you with the picture, I’ve come to accept that there are just some sensitive and mean people out there. It was very unnecessary of them acting like that. There’s always a nice way to handle any situation.

But please understand that we absolutely love your blog and appreciate all the work you do on here 🙂

Much luv from me in Vancouver ❤

    Gina

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 4:31 pm #

Thank you so much for your sweet comments – I love that you and your cule husband (give him my condolences) read the blog together. I’m glad that tipsy people were reading my tipsy posts! Sobriety wasn’t exactly a high priority last night (said Sergio). 😉

      • GinaM April 21, 2011 at 4:54 pm #

BEST part is that our bet was that if Madrid wins he has to go one day in a Madrid jersey, and if Barca wins I have to go one day in a Barca shirt!!! Saturday all day I am making him wear my jersey!!!

  9. x_amadare April 21, 2011 at 5:00 pm #

I actually came here because of the pimping that derbis gave at LJ. I was looking for the post you made last night at that very comm because I didn’t save the beautiful pic you posted, and I was so sad that it disappeared 😥 It sucks that this happened to you and I’m glad you’re not letting it get to you! I’m going to be following this blog pretty heavily from now on 🙂

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 7:58 pm #

Aw! Thank you (and thank derbis) for taking the time to check us out. I hope you find some stuff that you enjoy here. It’s a pretty fun place with some awesome people! 🙂

  10. Lisa. April 21, 2011 at 7:11 pm #

I’m gonna basically repeat what everyone here is saying in the fact that I completely adore this blog and its the first I check in the morning 🙂 and I hope you know that I appreciate all the effort you put into it, even when youre tipsy 🙂 haha.
So thank you for making my mornings more enjoyable and for loving ozil as much as me :p haha
    you are amazing!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 8:06 pm #

Aw! Thank you! It’s an honor that you would want to wake up to us! 🙂 Thank you! I will also pudding wrestle you for Ozil! 😉

  11. kfunk22 April 21, 2011 at 7:35 pm #

oh loz… look at this outpouring of love for you!
makes me proud to be a loyal wa-tishista! don’t let the lack of internet etiquette get you down, lady. there are more important things in life to worry about. like the upcoming CL matches.

but about the copa: what great coverage. love your giddy drunk posts. and your captions, as usual, are amazeballs.*

you’ve created such a warm and welcoming community for all of us here – not just Madridistas, but fans of every persuasion. this a blog that fosters dialogue about important issues that are often overlooked: racism, homophobia, even animal cruelty! you’ve given us all a voice here by being open and responsive to input and taking the time to respond to each comment personally.

well done on you. i’m proud to call you my friend.

*i said it first! probably not, but def. before the GOOP-meister!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2011 at 8:11 pm #

What if you are secretly Gwyneth Paltrow? I would still love you, but it might cause me to reassess my entire belief system. I would be in an existential crisis, so please, please be you! 😉

I am honored and touched by everyone who has been so supportive. If you had seen me at about 3:30 AM, I wasn’t feeling so good about things. I was all PMS-weepy and feeling angst-y. But y’all have got my back and that means so much to me. Poor Maisougio is in the middle of all her final projects and stuff or I am sure she would be here thanking you all too.

We are happy and very pleased about the environment we’re creating here. Everyone has been super cool, even if we don’t always agree. We are very, very lucky. You were one of our earliest supporters, and for that I can’t thank you enough. xoxo

      • kfunk22 April 21, 2011 at 11:12 pm #

        damn you! blew my cover!

  12. emily April 21, 2011 at 10:32 pm #

I don’t know much about the etiquette of blogging, but the notion that you putting a photo on someone else’s page, with just a reference to your page, is somehow trying to sell your page to their fans, and possibly steal them, I guess, is ridiculous. Firstly, the use of the term ‘pimping’ should piss us all off. The reality of ‘pimping’ has been shaded over by the all too rampant use of a term that is all too familiar with women who are in a bad place and are being abused and exploited. I’m not usually serious about anything, but this actually disturbs me a wee bit.
So, regardless of the verbage, the petty exclusionism of your fellow blogger/whatever should not deter you from your goal (not a pun!) of providing us with the wit and candor that bring us a little bit of joy everyday.

  13. maddy April 21, 2011 at 11:13 pm #

how is a pic of our classy players pimping it up? what a loser. when i found your page it was like finding a stash of gold in the back of my closet in a run down house with the lights and water cut off. 😛
