Mazel Tov, Nando!

23 Apr

“Oh thank God!”

On a rain soaked April day, in the 84th minute, Fernando Torres scored his first goal for Chelsea. So it took 14 games, so what? Villa just broke an 11 match drought today – it can happen to the best of ’em. I just think he really needed this one for his confidence. More pix and vid within.

I tell you between the Real/Valencia match and this, I just needed to take myself a serious nap after all that. All the excitement got to me. Real recap coming a bit later, but in the meantime, enjoy some shots of a very happy and relieved Nando. Sergio had the day off – I know he was watching the Real match because he was tweeting about it, but I wonder if he switched over to Nando’s match after and got to see his boo score? I love how excited the crowd and his teammates were for him. Even the pub went absolutely batshit – people were just screaming with joy!

I can’t believe how freaking wet the pitch was – it looked like a Slip n’ Slide all up in there. Having lived in England, I can tell you from experience the spring rain is usually neither warm nor pleasant – and this was sheeting down. I felt so bad for both teams.

Nando had a nice moment chatting with West Ham manager Avram Grant right before he was subbed onto the field for Drogba at 77′.

Well, let’s hope this is the first of many more for Nando and he regains his form. As I’ve said before, I think he psyches himself out and he really just needed one goal to get moving again. Goal drought over, let the scoring begin. Congrats, bebe!

Edited to add: Wa-tishista! Cosi asked if I could post a link to the very first post of HB & HB, which was Nando – here you go! Hard to believe we’re less than 4 months old – actually, we didn’t make the site public until January 16 (although we had a couple of posts up – we were too nervous!) so it’s really less than that. Wild!

when i’m head of uefa/fifa (whichever comes first) i’m going to make it a rule that players NEVER tuck in their shirts. and that taking off the shirt is a compulsory part of a goal celebration. i’ll also force barca to rethink both their home and away colours, and choose new away colours for arsenal to better complement RVP.
    why am i rambling today?

Yes! I hate tucked in shirts. Also, Barca’s away kit is a crime against nature. I feel so bad for them having to wear it.

That color is so… just plain wrong.

You’re rambling because we agree and LOVE it. Dude AfreakingMEN to that. Barca’s kit colours render me blind every time I see them. Do they still wear that hideous pink?! And that flourescent yellow? My goodness, I’m convinced the designer is colour blind and meant to choose something else.

On another note, GOOD JOB NANDO!!! Finally worked out for you you poor soul.

their away colour is not a mintchoc chip ice cream green. messi wore it with a green long sleeved turtle neck against shakthar. not pretty. and why dont they get measured properly. pique’s suit is always 10 sizes too big, like he isnt a giant already. our boys always have a perfect fit

Oh my distaste for their away uniforms is well documented on this blog. I tend to call it baby puke green though. It’s hideous! The salmon color ones were equally bad.

Even MORE perfect is seeing Sergio in his blue training kit, and knowing that he now matches Nando’s home kit. SERNANDO = happiness!

I was so happy for him it was ridiculous, of course it didn’t take long for the Scousers on NT twitter timeline to start hating but whatever. It was a good un’ too, not just a tap in.

I couldn’t believe that people were slagging off Dani Pacheco on Twitter because he posted something supportive of Nando. They’re friends, ffs. People never cease to amaze me.

LOL I know, its not like his goal helped my team out, but I was happy for him, because I knew he needed it, but apparently Chelsea is LFC’s “historic” rival *rolls eyes*

But you know after last weekend I have no sympathy for them. ;-P

AHH still can’t get enough of this moment- watching it over and over like a madman!!! YAAAAAH ❤ Any chance of finding a pic of the back of Nando walking back onto the pitch with Mikel RIGHT after the manpile? Everyone and their kits were soaked… definitely looks good in the vid, but NO one seems to think like me, lol… can't find a pic anywhere!! 😥
