Excuse me while I go drink the memory of that clusterfuck away with Shiggers.  Make no mistake, we didn’t play well, but HOLY FUCK, that turned out to be a complete nightmare on about 800 levels. I’ll be back later. I know we’re all upset  and tempers are flaring on both sides, but remember, be civil. I’m not down with hate speech. So keep it on the game and let cooler heads prevail. I love you all and I’ll post more later. xoxo Lozil (PS I have my Blackberry with me so if comments get out of hand, I will be unapproving and deleting).

    • Cosi April 27, 2011 at 6:47 pm #

NO SERGIO, i KNOW!!! i was cursing like anything at that point…. deep breathing was totally required to stop myself from blacking out from the sheer stupidity of it all. UGH!! I’ll be back prob when the 2 HB/HB ringleaders are…. going to drink myself to sleep now…. lol/sob/grr

      • headbandsandheartbreak April 27, 2011 at 7:41 pm #

I just have to say that Shiggers and I are very proud of everyone behaving. We’re two pints into our bender and rewatching the match and cursing.

        • Cosi April 28, 2011 at 12:15 am #

wahahahaha WELL tbh, not that i’m proud of this but my voice is gone from arguing all night. unfortunately i watched this in a public place where Cules without any brains also were. voice = gone, Fernando Torres in Lithuania style. Don’t know how i’m still awake, but damn i’m pretty pissed….

          • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 12:21 am #

Well, the theory here was that Fernando lost his voice from shouting “YES! SERGIO! YES! MORE! MORE!” So, is there anything you need to tell Maisougio? 😉 I wouldn’t want to be you if she finds that you’ve stepped to her man! (And you may have to start dodging Mais too!)

            • Cosi April 28, 2011 at 12:32 am #

BAHAHAHA WELL seeing as i’ve got a thing for both of those boys involved… maybe i’m about to get into a *couple* of pudding? fist? fights? LOL def taking some of the pain away just thinking about this! 😉 gonna get a few hours of sleep in here, or try…

              • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 12:34 am #

Rest, reenergize. We’ll live to fight another day. We just pudding wrestle here. No fist fighting! 🙂

PS I’m a hardcore Sernando girl – they’re my OTP.

          • Mais April 28, 2011 at 1:44 am #

            • Maisoun April 28, 2011 at 1:13 pm #

Hey hey now, this blog was founded on the ideas that 1.Man-love should be respected & tie for 2nd. Sergio belongs to Maisougio (ME!) & Ozil belongs to Lozil!

Dont make me take names 😛

              • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 1:14 pm #

                YEAH! What she said! 🙂

              • Mais April 28, 2011 at 6:19 pm #

pahahahah ‘take names’ WE HAVE THE SAME NAME YOU LOSER!! 😉 But yes, let’s avoid discussing this please. We don’t want to create fueds in our lovely HB&HB friendships! But we all should be prepared for pudding fights. Who knows when we’ll have one right? 😉

I’ll only allow myself a little “:(” here among fellow madridistas, but on my twitter and FB, I put my brave face on for our boys. Hasta el final, vamos real! I believe we can still do this! 3 away goals on the return leg! Vamos!

    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 1:46 am #

what’s your twitter username Anna! I’ll follow you there! If you don’t mind that is haha

      • AnnaBuena April 28, 2011 at 8:30 am #

why on earth would I mind…annaisdanielle…follow me! I must confess now though (if it’s not obvious yet), I love Sergio Ramos. Oh no! Are you going to challenge me to pudding wrestling now?

        • Mais April 28, 2011 at 8:54 am #

hahahaha well it depends on what sort of comments you make, because let’s face it, we all love Sergio. Because we’re sane. And if it comes to a pudding fight, I’ll try to go easy on you 😉

          • AnnaBuena April 28, 2011 at 9:19 am #

I think there’s plenty of Sergio to go around so there is no need for a pudding fight. Unless, of course, Sergio is in the ring with us. Wait, is there a ring in pudding fights? Lozil?

            • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 10:30 am #

There is totally a ring for pudding fights. We have a HB & HB Thunderdome for such occasions.

              • AnnaBuena April 28, 2011 at 10:45 am #

then it’s on!!!! 🙂 But somebody please tell Sergio that bronze or floral shorts are not allowed in the ring.

                • IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 11:05 am #

                  no shorts then 😉

  3. GinaM April 27, 2011 at 6:25 pm #

    1. RED card wasn’t necessary
    2. Our team didn’t play like they should.

Red Card totally changed the game, I am more calm then I would have thought. We have a 2nd chance next week let’s watch this game and learn from the mistakes boys! We believe in you guys! Let’s life up our 10th!!!

Look forward to hearing what you ladies thought of the game!

  4. Cosi April 27, 2011 at 6:42 pm #

Look at it this way: only Messi could manage to get onto the scoresheet, and considering his second goal was phenomenal………..

“My career would end if I said what I really thought” -Mou. This sums it up rather well. But we can still do this!! To the death, right? 🙂

    Bss, madridistas! xo

  5. Andrea April 27, 2011 at 7:08 pm #

    I’m so disappointed right now.

I was at work and my feed started getting wonky right after Pepe’s card. I caught a glimpse of TSO being sent off…then my feed disappeared. So (thankfully) I was spared the agony of seeing Messi score twice.

From my angle, I did not see where the red card was warranted. Such BS…of course the game was changed after that.

But, I’m with you ladies…let’s put on brave faces and cheer our team on next week. You never know what might happen if we all send a little good juju towards our boys 🙂

    Hala Madrid!

  6. maddy April 27, 2011 at 9:56 pm #

i’m sick of referees and talking about them, everyone knows what’s going on. if they want to kid themselves into believing its a fair contest everytime barca plays a big side, let them. all i’ll say on the issue is – it was very reminiscent of Barca vs Arsenal at Camp Nou this year. other notes..

    1. Madrid didnt have an off day. Mourinho did. in fact, if you ask me, Mourinho’s been having an off week. he should have stuck to the tactics he employed before the first clasico 10 days ago at the bernabeu where

    a) he was silent before the press.

    b) he used ozil as a half time substitute

    a) i remember saying somewhere else, mou’s jibes at pep will come back to haunt us. i think we got a bit two confident with the last too clasicos. before the la liga tie, lets face it, we were scared we’d get trumped 5-0 again. we concentrated. we didnt blab to the press. and we worked hard. this week, mou engaged his mind games, and now who has the last laugh. he shouldnt really speak about ref’s decisions again…we all know there’s no line between right and wrong decisions when you’re playing barca.

    b) BIGGEST TACTICAL ERROR EVER. for ozil to work his magic – HE NEEDS THE BALL. how on earth is that going to happen when the only people who see the ball are your defenders, and that only for a split second? when mou used him in the second half at bernabeu last week, he unleashed a fresh ozil on a tired barca side…it was brilliant. they couldnt control him cause he totally changed madrid’s play. at the copa final, though ozil was superb in the first half, mou knew it wouldnt last into half time. so he subbed out early. imagine what it would have been like if he was SUBBED in at half time instead? our scoreline would have been atleast 2-0. all the action in barca games happens in the second half (enter the ref). thats when we need ozil.

    2. Adebayor needs to be returned to man city. he really is useless on the field. lazy, doesnt know what’s happening. uninspired. i actually feel that Perez is getting into Mou’s head, telling him who to play (‘you whined for a striker, we got him, now play him’). WHY ELSE WOULD HE PLAY ADEBAYOR OVER BENZEMA???? I dont get it!!!

    3. Di Maria’s diving is getting on my nerves. i love the kid, but seriously?

    4. Messi’s 2nd goal was brilliant. its the first time i actually was like ‘okay so that’s what they’re talking about when they say he’s god’.

    5. how barca made it to the semi’s without yellow cards is just laughable. messi should have been atleast booked for shoving arbeloa (albiol? i dont remember) as he jumped for the ball. i guess booking messi for bookable offences arent a part of UEFA’s Revised Guidelines for Referees Officiating Barcelona Games.

i’m taking a break from football. arsenal vs man u is going to be equally discouraging.

    • maddy April 27, 2011 at 10:03 pm #

1 b) i meant, ozil’s briliance wouldnt have lasted the whole 90 mins or into extra time in copa final.

      • Cosi April 28, 2011 at 12:26 am #

THIS SUMS UP most of what i’ve been screaming about. Well put. Esp the sentiments about Adebayor- gave him the benefit of the doubt, but. just. don’t understand why Benzema never came on. i. don’t. under.stand. WTF??

It was just so much worse for all the playacting- Di Maria, you’re NOT HELPING….

and i remember agreeing with you about Mou’s premature jabbing. in general, we just looked really bad. damnit though, wtf card happy refs?!?!

i’ll stop now til i’m a bit more sober to comment on a civilized blog, heh. Night, lovers! bss X

    • notoriousjk April 28, 2011 at 12:20 am #

ugghhh I don’t even think I’ll be watching that……..maybe with an early morning mimosa (games are always on in the morning for me)There’s no excitement in that game for me now that the title is basically between Man United & Chelsea (again)

    • manie April 28, 2011 at 8:39 am #

      1) I think Mou said he was going to bring Kaka on, after “frustrating” and tiring Barca out. And given Kaka’s chemistry with practically everyone on the team, I think it was a good idea to bring out Adebayor, who admittedly does have poor ball control, but does still present a threat that keeps the two defenders tied up. With CR7 and Kaka, I think we would have had a good chance of scoring.

      2) I am really tired of refs giving the benefit of the doubt to Barca’s players and NOT booking them, despite numerous instances of shoving, diving (looking at you, Biscuits), etc., and automatically assuming Madrid’s players are bookable. Pepe’s red card was thoroughly undeserved and should have, at most, resulted in a yellow. Alves was shameful (as was Di Maria, I’m not excluding our players from criticism), but the ref was worse.

      3) I love Ozil, but I do not think he would have lasted the entire 90. I agree, I think bringing him out after he had time to read the match and after Barca were a bit tired was a good move in the first clasico. But I can understand why Mou started him, because he is really good at launching counters and linking up with Crispy.

  7. tati April 27, 2011 at 11:19 pm #

for me it’s not even about the fact we lost – it’s about the fact that it’s always barcelona who comes off as being “the good guy”, when we all know they’re very far from, and who are always treated like the winner right off the bat. it’s their smug fans who don’t know when to move on, and it’s always this idea of sweet innocent messi versus big bad cristiano ronaldo. why do people hate on our team so much?! my heart hurts for our boys, and the ref today was ridiculous. if the loss had been fair, we could deal with it. did anyone else hear the ref gave pepe the red because of “background”? if that’s true, it disgusts me.

    • Mais April 27, 2011 at 11:37 pm #

I did hear that Tati. Just freaking revolting. And yes! Messi should’ve been booked at least once during the match! Double bloody standards!

  8. emily April 27, 2011 at 11:21 pm #

Wow. I’m kinda glad I missed this one. I work retail in a store with no TV’s. Good thing, huh? I would have been over there yelling at the screens, scaring away customers…
Maybe Mou should have run the 6 goals-against-Valencia-squad out there?
    We can get past this.

  9. Mais April 27, 2011 at 11:29 pm #

Okay guys, so it’s been an INCREDIBLY rough, I’ve tried putting off the talk but it’s time now. I think I agree with pretty much everything Maddy said. Ozil is lovely, and we all know I love him more than fizzy Skittles but he’s too slight (and nice) to really get the ball off someone from the opposing team (HELP SAMI!! COME BACK! POR FREAKING FAVOR GET WELL QUICKLY!)so playing him in the beginning wasn’t that helpful. Plus he missed that chance, my goodness but he SERIOUSLY should’ve been able to score that! But then the linesman put the flag up, not sure if he or Sergio was offside. But I hope it was him, otherwise that miss is just terrible.. we all know that we adore Mou and his antics, but I agree, he should’ve stayed silent before the match, now he bagged Pep and we look like idiots. It’s pretty embarrassing in my opinion. I died when Sergio got booked. We have Carvalho back but now we lose him! And I hope noone takes this the wrong way, but as much as I respect Albiol and what he’s doing for the team, he’s been stuffing up our lives lately. He was pretty much standing idly by while Messi scored the first goal, or second, I can’t remember. I was hiding my face behind my hands, I just couldn’t take any of it anymore. WHY didn’t Mou sub Benzema in?!!!!! Manu is cool and everything, but let’s face it, his reflexes aren’t that fast! He takes 10 times the time Ronaldo takes and so if Cris set him up with a PERFECT ball, chances are he won’t score. Not all the time of course but I would’ve thought he’d sub in Karim. Moreover, are you bloody kidding me with the red card??? I am OFFICIALLY starting to believe it’s a conspiracy! It’s like they picked a random off the street and said, oh hey there, why don’t you come and referee this CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FREAKING SEMI FINAL MATCH! I’m going to puke at how terrible the ref was.

Daniel Alvez… I honestly have no words. Well no words I can say publicly on a blog at least.

And I am SO tired of people expecting Cris to run the show by himself. HE’S ONE MAN DAMMIT!! Just because you gave him the ball it DOESN’T mean your work is done!

Okay I think I have vented enough for now. I have a few Feel Better links, and one or two of them only are from the match obviously. I’m trying to erase that from my memory completely. Except I’m having dreams about it now. God, I just want to go back to the time I used to dream I was still in school and Mesut was my maths partner and that we agreed I’d help him with English if he helped me with Turkish.. sigh.

Anyway, I have to post them over 2 messages because otherwise it’ll reject my comment:

For Isabella and anyone who loves Alvaro (no one pays enough attention to him I personally think!):
I love his wordless protests: http://i.imgur.com/WQEJy.gif
    Shirtless Alvaro!

For Anna because she loves the bun as much as I do:

For me, Lozil, Maddy, any Mesut chicas out there, he rarely shows any skin so this one is a keeper!

Crozil!! ‘can we please PLEASE drink orange juice and playstation at yours tonight?’ http://sramos1504.tumblr.com/post/4846517211

Awwww, the bun!!! Thanks,Mais, that made me smile and I haven’t been able to smile since the match.

A big hug to all my madridistas! Until the end…Hala Madrid!

(wish we could all be in a huge-ass group hug with our boys. Mou, included!)

I love the bun too! I love the bun too! 😀

(I refuse to comment on anything relating to the match. I’m tired of Clasicos.)

Mais, I’d love to check out the rest of your links but I’m surrounded by a bunch of nosy people who keep asking why I’m staring at my phone giggling like a little girl. But shirtless Alvaro? Oh my. 🙂

Oh do you?? Well then you’re officially in our I Heart Good Buns club! Haha. That ALWAYS happens to me! I’m always checking the internet on my phone and people see me smiling on the bus at absolutely nothing, so they give me the weirdest looks every haha. Just check them later! I think I might cry myself! So jealous!! But so happy for you, you little lucky one!!! 🙂

              thank you.
seeing your fascination with Sergio the stallion… I would like to be there when you meet him, I’m sure you would be delighted.

              • Mais April 28, 2011 at 5:10 am #

Oh I will be delighted!!! Right before I drop dead from all the happiness. Btw did I mention that I love the nickname you gave him. ‘Sergio the Stallion’ is just a winner! 🙂

                • IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 5:19 am #

actually the nickname wasn’t my idea, I read it somewhere and I think it suits him perfectly 😉
reading about your “dropping dead” from happiness makes me wanna present you with one of the three autographs I got of the Stallion.
P.S take some tranquillizers so you don’t drop dead eventually 😉

                  • Mais April 28, 2011 at 5:23 am #

You have 3 AUTOGRAPHS OF HIS?!!! Oh my good God can you please give me ALL the shocking news at once?!! So I don’t get a billion mini heart attacks?! How did you get them? Did you meet him too? Because I will DIE now if you did. Did you win them or something? Oh my days, I am so jealous!

                    • IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 5:37 am #

                      yes, I have 3.
it’s really not a big deal; when Spanish NT or Madrid come to your town or region or you come to Madrid you’ll get one, too.
I didn’t win them, I got them in person.
if you give me your e-mail or any contact info I can make a picture and send it to you.

                  • Mais April 28, 2011 at 5:56 am #

So hang on does that mean you met him?? Oh my goodness… I’d love to see what they look like! Do you have a twitter account or a facebook or something? That way I don’t have to put my email on a public blog haha

                    • IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 6:28 am #

“does that mean you met him??” – yes.
“I’d love to see what they look like!” – Alvaro: he has the most gorgeous smile and the most gorgeous eyes ever. Sergio: like a true stallion 😉
maybe I can send the pics to HB & HB girls e-mail? this way they can forward them to you, I think it will be the best way to do it.

                  • Mais April 28, 2011 at 6:33 am #

Oh my word! I can’t believe you met him that’s so freaking awesome! Oh btw when I said ‘I’d love to see what they look like’ I meant the autographed photos, not them! Haha believe me I have MEMORISED what THEY look like 😉

                    • IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 6:44 am #

jajaja of course, but you know they look a bit different than on the pictures, camera makes them fatter, IMO.
One autograph is on the Spanish NT shirt and the other in my notebook. I prefer to keep the third one to myself as it’s dedicated to me.

                    • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 7:06 am #

                      Okay, IsaBella –

I’m going to speak frankly and know that I am *dead* serious. Tread very, very carefully in your comments about meeting the players here. Your tales of your adventures at the Bernabeu caused a huge shitstorm at una’s blog and that circus is NOT welcome here at HB & HB. Not at all. I’m far less lenient than una is. But I believe everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, so I’m extending that. And, no, the matter isn’t up for discussion. Not in the slightest. If this means you don’t want to continue commenting on this blog, I understand completely, but I cannot and will not tolerate the kinda stuff that was said or the subsequent uproar that went on over there. Very ill advised on a number of levels. So progress very carefully and now that’s put out there, I’m going to go drink some carrot juice to nurse my hangover.

                      – Lozil

I think yes, figuratively speaking of course, they don’t have any fat at all. maybe I should have said “bigger” then.. sorry, English isn’t my first language.

Lozil: I’m as careful as possible, I put as little info as possible and I don’t go into any details. I think seven times before I write something. I suffered enough hatred (my own fault, I shouldn’t have written anything at all) and I don’t want to go back to that.

Lol yah I remember it was back in the fall when the press went crazy over Mou’s supposed animal comparisons of play style (catlike etc). Sergio as a warhorse or stallion was totally agreed on! Lol

i ended up just completely avoiding that whole shitstorm over on The Una blog. Who met who, squeals of delight and jealousy = not my thing. And it sounds stupid, but not entirely relevant? Seeing as we’re all here to indulge each otherin our fantasies and not reality…

Let’s just talk about this complete shite game, shall we? oh wait, i just summed it up. Ugh.

you ladies are all invited when i marry ozil. it’ll be a very traditional affair. big crowd.

plus, i’m sure you’ll appreciate the guest list – team mates, coaches, etc..

              • IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 5:06 am #

thanks maddy, I’m sure we’ll be very happy 🙂 please invite Alvaro without Carlota for this one night for me 😉

she’s not half bad 😛 but i’ll have a secret portal through which you ladies can go to steal a few private moments with your loverboys. its all in the plan.

oh she’s adorable! 🙂 but you know, being a little selfish, I would like to have him all to myself even if only for one night… 😉

              • Mais April 28, 2011 at 5:13 am #

Why thanks Maddy! I am very excited! Let’s formulate a plan: first the three of us (everyone welcome) will fly to Madrid. We’ll go to the Bernabeu and watch a match, making sure that our seats are VERY close to the pitch. We will make sure we look VERY plain, except for you, we’ll have to make sure you look real snazzy so that you’ll catch his attention. And when you do BAM love at first sight. 2 days later ==> proposal week later (yes we’re eager) ==> wedding (SHOT GUN I’M HIS BEST MAN!(I know it’s weird but roll with it) AND your maid of honour). Termination of plan as it was a major success. Sound good?

                • maddy April 28, 2011 at 5:19 am #

i was thinking more along the lines of become team physician, but your idea IS SO MUCH BETTER/FASTER. i dont know if he’s in the habit of checking out fans in the crowd though, (HE BETTER NOT BE).

if you’re his best man, i call cris for maid of honour.

                  • maddy April 28, 2011 at 5:24 am #

oh wait, you called maid of honour too. then cris will be bridesmaid. and kedhira will conduct the ceremony. and mou will play the harp. and sergio the entertainment. THIS ALL BETTER HAPPEN

                    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 5:26 am #

Sergio for entertainment is SO right. He can carry Mesut and spin him around and around like that gif I posted yesterday. My God what a killer. I’m STILL reeling from the adorableness.

                    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 5:28 am #

And not to worry girl, it will. The mastermind behind this (me) never fails! It’s flawless! Watch out ‘Sut! we’re out to get you! In the nicest way possible..

ps: this is actually very exciting because Turkish weddings are really awesome! I might start with the preparations, you know ask around about wedding planners and such.

                    • maddy April 28, 2011 at 6:41 am #

i’ll start on the turkish asap. but i think i’m going to have to master german. i dont know turkish, but everytime mesut speaks it, i get the feeling he’s not too good at it.

                    • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 7:10 am #

Actually, Turkish is his FIRST language and he’s fluent, much more so than German, which he has often been criticized for. Jenny can better speak to his German since she is fluent herself.

                    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 7:05 am #

Yeah well he left Turkey when he was a little kid! But I was encouraging you to learn it so you can woo his mum.. 😉

                    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 7:33 am #

I saw what Lozil saw. That his German isn’t perfect. I read that in the Sidlowe article about him. I have no idea if his Turkish or his German is better but I’m sure he’s adorable in whichever language he speaks.

                    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 9:16 am #

why not we call you the Super Fairytale Wedding Combo Package 🙂

i’d love to see the look on ozil’s face if he were to read this thread. tomato red? cherry pink? bashful face in the hands?

                  • Mais April 28, 2011 at 5:25 am #

I know!!! It’s very fast and hopefully very effective. Oh he’s not into such mischief! But we’ll have a HUGE sign with a witty caption (which I will come up with later) that will catch his eye. All thought of Maddy. All considered. 😉

                    • IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 5:31 am #

ok, I’m all for this plan, although the sign will have to be veeery captive as I have seen weird things people put on banners, like for example: “Pique cambio tu camiseta por un paquete de galletas” which means “I’ll have your shirt for a pack of biscuits..”. The love at first sight plan sounds better but we could also try to get Ozi at a nightclub in Madrid 😉

                    • maddy April 28, 2011 at 5:43 am #

the wedding will be a turkish/sri lankan affair… dont whine if i put you all in saris…

i hope his mummy likes me…

he’s a third generation turkish immigrant…he was born and raised in germany..i think so were his parents. from what i know…he should be very fluent in german as he schooled there… i saw a few of his turkish interviews, he kept stumbling and asking the interviewer if he was saying the right word. it was all very cute…

                    • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 7:27 am #

I’m well aware of his lineage, Maddy. He speaks Turkish with his family. He has been often criticized that he speaks German “like a foreigner” because his grasp of it isn’t as strong even though he was born and raised there. I don’t have the energy to go into it right now, but it has a great deal to do with the division of Turkish and German populations, integration, etc. I wrote a paper on it for grad school. I’m sure Jenny will pop in here to confirm. She’s the ultimate source on all things Ozil.

    part 2:

    All the Sergioness:

The fluffy hair is always heartwarming:

I don’t know about you but Sergio’s abs always make me feel better:
    more abs:

WHAT ARE YOU WEARING BOY?!! Oh you are just hilarious mi amor

    Any Sernando peeps out there:

And last but not least, Kaka’s lovely adorable family. Isabella is actually smiling!!!!

Okay, that’s all folks. I hope I didn’t offend anyone. If I did, I’m sorry, it’s definitely not intentional. For the meantime, we’re just going to be the hardcore Madridistas that we are, and we’ll see where Mou takes us, whereever it is, I’m sure it’s better than 5-0! Hala Madrid people!! (did I ever mention that my little sister’s name is Hala? If only our surname was Madrid 😉 )

    • AnnaBuena April 28, 2011 at 9:14 am #

The first time I saw that picture of Sergio’s abs, I swear, I gasped out loud. HOT DAMN!

  11. LV April 27, 2011 at 11:41 pm #

I’m a Barca fan totally not here to gloat right now. What I want to ask you in all honesty is WTF is up with Mou and how you stand him?

All he ever does is blame the ref when he loses (yes that was a harsh red HOWEVER that was aggressive play by Pepe, Adebayor shoved someone later in the game and could have taken one AND Marcelo stomped on Pedro which also warranted a red…so)…..

Anyway, I think this guy is like toxic to your club with his constant complaining and making himself out to be a martyr and like there is some conspiracy (please! riiiight, it’s the unicef shirts)….and THEN, and THEN! essentially forfeiting game 2?! Who DOES that? All is not lost- you *do* have another 90 minutes. I thought it was such poor form on Mou’s behalf and it’s not just this once, he’s constantly pulling this crap, especially blaming the refs. And please don’t even start me down this path- because I can name a TON of times where Barca has been on the receiving end of bad bad calls (prime example the recent 1-1 classico)….

I’m just asking- not trying to be a jerk! RM outplayed Barca in the King’s Cup and I love watching RM play – Mou’s attitude is just kind of gross to me.

    • LV April 27, 2011 at 11:44 pm #

And also, all of this other talk obscures talk of FOOTBALL. Hello, Barca had 70% possession. And people here are arguing Messi should have been booked? Pepe is notoriously aggressive and was showing his cleats. It was a harsh yellow but it was aggressive play and wasn’t the first time he had done it in the game.

      • headbandsandheartbreak April 27, 2011 at 11:56 pm #

PS Possession means nothing, really – you can have the bulk of possession and still not score. We’ve beat you when you’ve had the majority of possession, so please, be fair. Peace, Lozil

        • notoriousjk April 28, 2011 at 12:22 am #

“possession means nothing” As a Gooner I laughed grimly at this.

          • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 12:31 am #

            I bet. 😦

            • maddy April 28, 2011 at 1:05 am #

as a gooner and a madridista, WE ALL KNOW POSSESSION MEANS NADA. can you imagine how many goals madrid would have racked up if we had 70-80% possession? incredible! it would be a match made in heaven for ozil.

      • tati April 28, 2011 at 12:11 am #

when you say he is notoriously aggressive, it makes it seem like you say that the red is justified just because of his background (when i read somewhere else that the ref was giving the red in part because of pepe’s background it made me really mad and shocked), and if not then then eventually he would’ve done something to deserve that red so better to give it as precautionary manner. i don’t want to come across as jumping on you, but i agree with lozil that maybe your comment came too soon after this match.

to your question as how we can stand mou – i think he’s a fantastic coach, and while sure there are sometimes when he makes mistakes or speaks out too soon, i think in all the times he’s complained about the ref, it’s been justified. it does seem like almost a sick sort of game that we always end matches with 10 players against barcelona, when they’re not exactly innocent themselves. it seems that both rm and mou are treated differently than other teams, there have been lots of examples even in la liga this season which haven’t been fair to either of them. i think mou’s just sick of always being seen as the bad guy and lets his frustration come out in the heat of the moment.

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 27, 2011 at 11:53 pm #

      Hey LV –

I don’t necessarily agree with everything Mou said and I definitely don’t agree with all the calls tonight for Barca or Real, but neither team or coach has anything to be proud of today. That was a poorly organized brawl, not a decent game of footy. Messi’s goals were beautiful and well deserved. However, that doesn’t make up for how everyone behaved the rest of the time. I personally would have put everyone on both benches and the officials over my knee and spanked the ever loving shit out of ALL of them. A big bunch of whinging overpaid babies, the lot of them. And Mou may be angry and about to give up, but I believe that’s the heat of the moment. We’re not giving up. All that said, and I know that you didn’t come here to gloat, but this may not be the exact moment to ask these questions, you know? Tempers are high. It was a shit game and no one came out of this one good, but at least you have 2 away goals. Let’s give us at least 24 hours to calm down and lick our wounds, eh? And for the record, I respect both Mou and Pep as terrific coaches of great teams and I will leave it at that. Perhaps in a day or so, we’ll be more up for discussing this with you LV but tonight, I think we’re going to circle our Madridista wagons and mourn. Let us have that, okay?

Everyone else – I would appreciate if you didn’t jump on LV – she is a valued member here and has a right to her opinion. I know right now we are all upset, but as I have said, we’re trying to cultivate a culture of tolerance here. Let’s respect both our differences and our similarities. xoxo Lozil

      • AnnaBuena April 28, 2011 at 12:13 am #

        Well said, Lozil! Hala Madrid!!!

      • Cosi April 28, 2011 at 12:40 am #

Absolutely agree- total shite game from both sides with the exception of those sparks from Messi. not going to really argue much else for now, as Lozil’s covered most of it, plus i’m too exhausted.

one thing tho- Mou’s an arrogant asshole, we all know, but i personally prefer his blatantly outspoken and often rude opinions, which he clearly believes, rather than having a manager who spits out politically pleasing comments that may or may not even be relevant to the manager’s own opinions.

        cheers all

        • Cosi April 28, 2011 at 12:43 am #

plus i find him uncomparably, if that’s a word, entertaining. apparently so does the press, which is why you hear so much about him and his shocking responses, gives them shite to write about…

    • manie April 28, 2011 at 8:56 am #

I personally think Mou is a very capable media handler. Besides his amazing coaching credentials, I think he was also hired to deflect the enormous pressure the Spanish press puts on Madrid’s players – witness Iker/Cris-gate earlier this season, among many other examples over the years. And, honestly, I think he’s done quite well. Some of the things he says, I do cringe a little, but I do think he says them to bring pressure onto himself rather than the club and its players. Hala Madrid (and hala Mou!).

  12. notoriousjk April 28, 2011 at 12:26 am #

I haven’t watched the game (don’t know if I will), but it seems, from comments I’ve seen, that a few Real Madrid fans feel that the red card sending off was similar to Arsenal at Camp Nou. I’m just wondering what the ladies (and men) of H&H thoughts are on that?

I’m not excited about a possible (probable) Man United & Barca final (although I’m sure that’s what all the networks were gunning for & what was expected….yawn)

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 12:30 am #

The general opinion of our pub, both cule, madridista and neutral was that the red card was wrong. A direct quote from a non-Madrid lover “It was a fucking disgrace” (and no, neither Didier Drogba – or sadly – Kitier Katba was with us). Not one person I talked to of any persuasion thought that was a good game – they all thought it was a shameful mess from both teams. I agree 100%.

PS And yes, several compared it to Van Persie’s bullshit sending off. (Many cules agreed with that point).

    • maddy April 28, 2011 at 1:09 am #

it wasnt just the red card that was similar. the whole game was similar to Barca vs Arsenal at nou camp. we played bad but were still in the game. barca were frustrated. red card. game over.

  13. maddy April 28, 2011 at 1:11 am #

talk about double standards…i read on goal.com that barca were consulting their lawyers about lodging complaints to UEFA against mourinho regarding his post match comments. REALLY? f***ing boss and f***ing coach the kind of language you want your coach to be spewing when your kids turn on the tv?

    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 1:49 am #

Goal.com can freaking die! I hate that website! It’s so biased and FRAUGHT with double standards.

    • LV April 28, 2011 at 7:40 am #

Spain is different re: swearing. It’s not half as taboo to swear on TV or at all as it is in the states, where maybe you are from? But Pep did lose his cool the day before the game and I didn’t like it one bit.

      • maddy April 28, 2011 at 10:31 am #

personally, i think the governing bodies should ban press conferences for a while, especially for games such as the clasicos. who benefits from them? let the teams prepare in peace.

not from the US 😉 i’m sri lankan.

  14. maddy April 28, 2011 at 1:16 am #

also..what does ‘background’ mean concerning the red card? i didnt get it.

    • Mais April 28, 2011 at 1:48 am #

Maddy ‘background’ here is referring to his behaviour in previous matches. So it’s implying that he was ‘rough and aggressive’ in other matches so the ref gave him a red card based on that. Well that’s my understanding at least.

      • maddy April 28, 2011 at 2:13 am #

thats a load of crock!!!! then why dont we just ban all those who have a history of red cards from playing football at all!!!!

its not just goal.com that’s biased. all of football is biased. the journalists, editors, ‘legends’ and the very worst, the commentators. they glorify EVERYTHING barcelona do. for example, if alonso won the ball from xavi and made an accurate long pass to ronaldo, the commentators would say ‘xavi, and now alonso. ronaldo’. if iniesta made a pass to messi who passed the ball to villa 2 feet away, the commentators would bawl ‘iniesta – BRILLIANT footwork, and now messi…MAGNIFICENT flick to villa, JUST GLORIOUS from the little MAGICIAN.’
and i’m sitting there with a blank expression going ‘huh, what did i miss it?’

        stab me with a spoon.

        • Mais April 28, 2011 at 2:34 am #

oh my God Maddy. That just summed up my everything! Life, thoughts, observations, the whole lot! Y.E.S. That’s EXACTLY what goes down.

  15. IsaBella April 28, 2011 at 2:59 am #

    1. I haven’t slept all night because of the game and today I’m dying at the office with my super Barca fan colleague who is of course gloating with happiness. He’s educated enough not to torment me though, which I’m thankful for.
    2. Pepe’s red card was ridiculously unfair
    3. My stallion Sergio got booked and will miss the vuelta – es una pena pero bueno, el no es capaz de controlarse cuando algo no vaya bien.
    4. My platonic love Alvaro will play at Camp Nou: keeping me alive.
    5. Even the most perfect and classy player out there, Xabi Alonso wasn’t able to stop himself and at the end of the game he told the referee what he thought of him. Thank you Xabi.

I’m here as a culé but certainly not to rub it in. The only redeeming factor for my team was Leo Messi’s goals, which were lovely. Both teams dived all over the place (Busquets and Di Maria…. really?!) and it was a shame that the only reason we won was after Pepe got sent off. I’d have preferred to win with good football in a good game as opposed to from both teams acting like complete idiots. I’d prefer if José kept his conspiracy theories to himself, though. Just go with “no comment” after the game. I wish everyone would do that…

As for Pepe’s sending off, I don’t know. His studs were up and his boot was high so I could see why the ref may have thought it warranted a red card. Personally, I though yellow.

Basically, I was just disappointed with the game. I mean, sure, 2-0 is great to take home, but the rest of the game was ridiculous. I hope the return leg is far better.

I must also commend Iker Casillas on being one of the only classy players last night.

On a side note- does anyone know if the “fans” who shine lasers are having anything done to stop it. That’s disgraceful.

I couldn’t agree more, Dylan, that game was a fucking disgrace and an embarrassment to both teams in my opinion. Not worthy of them in the slightest. I call Di Maria “Norma Desmond” for his hammy diving skills. I scream at the TV all the time when he does that. 😉 SB was definitely giving him a run for his money yesterday. What a mess. And yes, the laser thing is a disgrace too – I’ve been bitching about it for ages. I would love it if the Spanish FA did something about it but they can’t even get their shit together to schedule games more than a week in advance, so what are the chances? Grrrrr! Let’s hope both our teams behave like men next time and not spoiled children.

      • Dylan April 28, 2011 at 9:37 am #

I swear, for a while I thought I was the only one to see the lasers! I thought I was going insane. I’m not sure what the RFEF or UEFA think they’re doing, to be honest. They’ve done far too little already in the case of lasers and racist remarks and all the like. I can’t count how many times I’ve sat in a stadium and heard racist things from fans. It’s shameful.

Well, on a positive note, hopefully next Tuesday will be far more entertaining (in the good way). I vote we keep Biscuits and Di Maria off the pitch! 😉

          Dylan –

          Amen to that!!!!

Don’t know if you’re regular reader of this blog but these are issues that I complain about all the time. I was furious to see some “fans” in the Bernabeu shining lasers in Messi’s eyes (people love to do it to Cris too) – this is complete and utter bullshit. As is throwing extra balls on the pitch. The Powers That Be need to get their collective heads out of their arses and deal with this shit.

          • Dylan April 28, 2011 at 10:55 am #

I’ve only recently come across this blog but I’ll definitely become a regular reader. It’s great finding a blog that’s clearly run and read by civil, open-minded Madridistas who I can have a conversation with without either side resorting back to the typical old insults.

Well done to you guys! 🙂

            • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 11:02 am #

Thanks for your kind words. We’re trying like hell. We have our moments of anger, but we don’t allow things to turn into a free for all. When everyone is here, I’d rather that they not think of themselves as Cule, Gooner, Madridista, etc. but Wa-tishista. 🙂 (If that term makes no sense to you, check out our Glossary). We’re all here because we love football and the hot men who play it.

You ladies are very nice to tolerate my untimely questions. And I mean that seriously 🙂 Thanks for moderating the discussion, must be a ton of work and I was no help.

The first half of the game was actually semi-decent semi-respectable football….the second half of the game was a shitstorm that really bummed me out too BUT I really feel like Mou made it a million times worse.

Sorry to make people mad, I really am. it’s just the constant complaining about the ref (see Ramos’ twitter feed just an hour ago) is very frustrating and I think that Real Madrid are SO better than that.

    • LV April 28, 2011 at 7:36 am #

Oh- and I can’t forget to add this- Busquets drives me insane. I hate his BS on the field. If he even plays well I don’t notice because I’m too busy yelling at him to stop crying. He and DiMaria put on quite a show last night….

Yes Yes, the commenter who mentioned Casillas- that man is pure class, even in the midst of all this garbage….

      • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 10:37 am #

Sounds like you feel about Busquets the way that I feel about Di Maria. It’s so ridiculous and annoying. I keep threatening to hold up cards with a score on it like the Olympic judges every time he pulls one of his dives. Ugh.

  18. maddy April 28, 2011 at 9:31 am #

though i’m a little tired of the whole ordeal, i cant help but feel a little excited about the return leg. you know how teams play when they have nothing to lose? i hope thats what we do… it would be beautiful if we put up and fight and (if) we went down with pride.

    • AnnaBuena April 28, 2011 at 9:56 am #

Hear, hear! I’m sure our boys will make us proud! 🙂

    • Cosi April 28, 2011 at 9:57 am #

AMEN, sista! Exactly. I wanna feel that Copa del Rey magic again. Vamonos muchachos!

and holyshit, over 100 comments?! Looks like HB/HB’s doing an amazing jobbie!! 🙂 took forever to scroll down… that’s it from me, then. Thank god i’m a student- woke up and the day’s basically gone LOL!

      • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 10:40 am #

We’re not doing anything! Y’all just talk a lot! 😉

I just have to say, I’m really pleased at the tone everyone has kept and proud that both cule and Madridista are able to discuss the game – giving opinions and being civil. Thank you for that. Nothing like a completely shite game with badly behaved players and staff on both sides to unite us all! LOL! 😉

        • maddy April 28, 2011 at 10:43 am #

definitely. i woke up this morning feeling very low (after the game i got a text that my friends mum passed away). but after a day of rambling about god knows what not here, i feel significantly better. i’m proud of madridistas, united in victory and adversity. HALA.

I was if my mom in an emergency room, so I didn’t watch the game. But after see the highlights and the reprise, I have some points:

    1. Both teams should feel ashamed of the ridiculous spectacle that was staged in this game. And before too with the Mou and Pep’s pathetic show.
    2. As much I love Ozil, I wish we could have played with Pipita and Kaká from the beginning. Kaká has more experience in this type of game and Pipita has a hunger difficult to control.
    3. Pepe always plays in the edge, and he is the only one guilty for this, but he didn’t commit a red card fault and was clearly punished for his reputation, what is not fair at all.
    4. I hate to see Di Maria dives. If I were the referee I would send him off the game immediately. I know he tries to get us a penalty or a fault, but it’s shameful and he should stop it. Now!
    5. Barça’s dives are even worst! They don’t want penalties, they want send the other players out. They always fall in the ground, rolling and simulating an attack. Last night Alves, Pedro and Busquets deserved an academy awards nominatiion for their performance. Marcelo just touches Busquets on the chest and he fall like he was hit on the face. This is doubly dirty, pathetic and unsportsmanlike. And it’s great the Barça girls on this blog don’t accept this attitude too.
    6. Barcelona is treats different. And that’s why I despise double stands.
    7. I always dislike Pinto and now that he slapped Arbeloa and pushed Chendo, I just can’t stand him at all.
    8. I just hate Cristiano’s attitude after the game when he said he didn’t like to play defensively, but did what the coach ordered. It was a very childish way of getting rid of responsibility, isn’t? I hope he reflects on his attitude. This is the moment when we must to be united and not putting the blame upon one or the other.
    9. Barcelona shows last night that they are not the best team ever. They look like crap, exactly as we look. In other hand, Messi show that his name is already written in the history of football. What amazing player he is… But I see him elbowing Sergio and I didn’t like at all.

Now things get even more complicated and we have like 1% chance to get in the final. But thats fine for me, I will continued supporting the boys even if we have no chance at all.

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 28, 2011 at 12:09 pm #

First and foremost, is your mom okay? I hope so! I’ve gotta agree with all your points. Everyone was so badly behaved. 😦 But yeah, I’m with the boys win or lose.

      • moviefashion April 28, 2011 at 1:27 pm #

My mom is much better now, especially because she is being super spoiled by my sister and I. Thank you very much for your concern.

About everyone badly behaved, I think we can make an exception for Iker. He had an amazing performance last night, with some great saves. What I love about him is that no matter if he wins or loses, he always behaves in a mature, decent and educated way. My admiration for him grows every day.

  20. Cherrycake April 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm #

Oh well. Even Ikerpus let us down. Thank you guys for making me smile for the first time today with all your lovely comments. What an utter and complete stinker of a game that was! I stopped watching after Messi’s first goal with the save knowledge that it wouldn’t be the last one for Barca. And, truth be told, I was even kind of relieved today that we didn’t lose by a much higher margin. As much as I adore Mou, I guess he is the main man to blame for that disaster. What was he thinking by repeating that shite ultra-defensive starting lineup? Why not give it a try with one of our wonderful strikers? Mesut basically had no chance to shine in this game. That is what bummed me the most. And yes: Busquets and Di Maria need to stop their ridiculous diving. It’s disgraceful. As to the return leg: well, I guess we have as good a chance as Schalke has to win by three goals in Old Trafford next week. That means: next to zero. But we’ll use it, won’t we? 😉
