“WTF just happened?”
I dunno, Iker, but I’m not pleased.
Neither team should be proud of what was a completely disgusting spectacle that had nothing to do with sport and all to do with ego. There was no honor and very little football to be had. But I’ve made my feelings pretty clear in the comments. I can’t bear to go over it and post pictures but here’s a round up of various articles about the game and the fallout.
First up the stuff from RealMadrid.com – your choice whether to read or not, but please remember, this is a Real Madrid-centric blog, so no complaining that we’re not all “fair and balanced” with the articles round up. Then some articles from other sources and finally, some fun.
Television images show that Pepe did not touch Alves’ leg (includes comments from other athletes on the red card)
World press agrees: Pepe did not deserve a red card
Mourinho: “My career would end if I said what I really thought”
Xabi Alonso: “The send-off changed the game; it was decisive”
Ramos: “Real Madrid must always go for it and will do so in Barcelona”
Cristiano Ronaldo: “We will fight in Barcelona”
Fall out from the game:
Disciplinary cases opened against Real Madrid and Barcelona – UEFA.com
(How we got five charges and Barca only got one, I’m not sure…)
Barcelona confirms intention to report Jose Mourinho to UEFA
UPDATE: An addition
From ESPNSoccerNet: Messi & Mourinho Mask Barca Shame
UPDATE 2: Apparently, it’s official – Real Madrid will complain to the UEFA about Barca. This is according to Sid Lowe. Oh FFS, I hope everyone just gets sent to bed without supper. All y’all need to grow up and play some fucking footy. Love, Lozil
And now, some fun stuff to cheer ALL of us up after yesterday’s clusterfuck:
The Guardian: Gallery El Clasicos 1-4 (Fan created posters – some funny stuff)
Unamadridista: In Case You Missed It, The Party Edition
(Thank you, una, we needed to remember the happier times of last week!)

a fan commented on the Dirty Tackle: Dani Alves runs into Sergio Busquets at the mall, both fall down clutching their face.
hahaha made me chuckle and now I am happy again. I hope both teams clean the sheet calm down and play the game the way it should be played in Camp Nou…and we win 😉
ps. I had to spend my whole night in a barca jersey… I even tried hiding it under my jacket at grocery store but my husband made me take the jacket off… Good thing there’s not alot of soccer fans in Canada lol
Bless you, Dirty Tackle, and HB&HB for pointing it out.
So I’m scrambling to finish a term paper, run out to the kabob stand outside my window for something to eat, and i swear. At least five nasty remarks/dirty looks about my shirt…. forgot i was wearing my fave study clothes- an oversized Ramos jersey. Perfect. Nasty comments, evil looks, name throwing… all i need is someone clutching their face and a laser light directly in my eyes and i’ll have my very own Clasico reenactment right here on the street. UGH!
ANYway, loved that dirty tackle article, especially Drogba’s random appearance rofl. Hope that everyone gets their act together so we can watch some actual futbol.
Thanks for the links, gals! 🙂
Oh no! How DARE people glare etc at a Sergio jersey? Is that even physically possible?!!! *pat pat* you poor thing. At least you’re getting some studying done.. any tips? Dying due to lack of motivation here haha.
omg, that was brooks best one yet. thank you for linking it. i am so over yesterday. it’s all a f*****g disgrace. thanks for the 🙂 today…i needed it
I really think its all ridiculous now , all these complaints, the dives the whole damn thing!
Just play football, do your talking on the field!
I just hope next weeks match gets column inches for the right reasons, the two best teams playing a beautiful game, if we do go out *fingers crossed we wont, I still believe we have a chance* I just hope we go out on a high having given our all and playing the best we can. Then hopefully the game will be remembered for the beauty on the pitch not the scandal off it xx
I agree Lisa – I really hope that next week is not as horrific as this week. We really need to shut up, take the high road and play the damn game. Well, both teams!
thank god for dirty tackle.
i’ll refrain from saying more – it’s all been said already. but kudos on you, lo, for giving a home to civil discussion in the wake of that monstrous mess.

DirtyTackle article was hilarious! I want to end every sentence now with “…then Busquets falls down, clutching his face.” haha! What a tool.
the espn article is brilliant
i think the sending of frazzled iker a bit. our defence was in shambles, but i think he was caught slightly napping for both goals..
