Mesut’s Striptease

26 May

Watching Mesut take it off (and his dazzling footwork) was a lovely way to start the day. This comes via his Facebook page. For your info, the lady in question is the awesomesauce Fatmire “Lira” Bajramaj, midfielder for the German National Team, who will be joining FFC Frankfurt next season. Read a great article about Lira here. And hey, Jenny, if you want to translate, feel free! 😉

I have said for months they were meant to be together. Jennny is never wrong about these things.

Her longterm boyfriend is super hot too. But she and Mesut would make a fantastic couple. I love that vid of her. I was watching it earlier.

I know she’s got a hot boyfriend – an actor – but can he juggle his chewing gum?

These are the serious questions Lira has to start asking herself. Is a man who can’t juggle his chewing gum worth it?

Excellent point! Gum juggling and adorable bulldog puppies might sway her. I know it would sway me! 😉

    You’ve come a long way.
You used to kick with the boys.
    Now you play professional football.
    Premier League.
    You play for your country.
You play with the best in the world.
And for the biggest titles you can win.
    Not bad for a girl!

ooo thanks for translating!!! could you translate lira’s video as well???

they would make a hot couple. i would much rather mesut stay single till he meets me, but if he is going to date someone, i hope it would be someone awesome and age-appropriate like lira, and not has-beens trying to ride his wave of stardom..

      • Jenny May 26, 2011 at 1:02 pm #

Lira’s video is the same – the only difference is the final line.

The German can’t really be translated literally, but what she says means: “didn’t think you could do it!” (as in: he’s better than she thought) and then he throws his bib at her!

thanks a lot! i’m waiting for the day when i’d wake up and start speaking eloquent spanish and german out of nowhere..

they do make a beautiful couple. and they are both muslim, so there wont be a conversion drama. i still think he should wait for me. but a guy is allowed a few mistakes before he meets their soulmates..

btw, how about mesut’s goal in the second vid??? he always says he’s not good in the air and he doesnt head the ball well, but his aerial shots with his foot are amazing!!

    • Jenny May 26, 2011 at 1:10 pm #

      Yeah – it’s pretty amazing!

I love her goal. I hope that she scores one like that in the final. I adore her. She’s my favourite player on the team.

      • maddy May 26, 2011 at 1:14 pm #

fingers crossed. is she also a musician? mesut’s facebook message to her said something about a song (according to google translate)

        • Jenny May 26, 2011 at 1:44 pm #

I don’t think so. This is what it said: “Hey Leute, heute Abend drücke ich die Daumen für Lira Bajramaj. Sie kann echt einiges, nicht schlecht für ein Mädchen, oder?”

That means: “Hey people, tonight I’m pressing my thumbs for Lira Bajramaj. She can really do stuff – not bad for a girl, eh?”

Lira is marvellous – she’s written her autobiography already – she was an Albanian-Muslim refugee who came to Germany as a child and the title is “My goal in life.”

Her dad didn’t approve of girls playing football. He thought they should dance or sing or do girly stuff. So she played secretly with boys and starting entering competitions. Her dad was, of course, thrilled in spite of himself when he found out and is now her biggest fan.

She helped the team win a medal at the Olympics – her corner kick led to the winning goal.

She’s cheeky too – she likes to wear nail-polish, and make up her eyes and do her hair before games because “I don’t just want to score goals, I want to look good doing it!”

But I never heard she was a singer. Maybe her dad forced her to take lessons and she was talented or something.

Was there something else in the message – something I didn’t find?

          • maddy May 26, 2011 at 1:47 pm #

they sent fb messages to each other

            • Jenny May 26, 2011 at 1:59 pm #

              How adorable – translations –

Hey Lira – I think you’re close to winning your next title. First you’ve got to concentrate on your game today, I’m pressing my thumbs for you hard!*

Thanks Mesut, you’ve not such a bad sparring-partner! It’s too bad that you couldn’t come along to London. You’d have enjoyed it – but now, I’ve got to go and get it;)
*Note: Germans don’t cross their fingers, they press their thumbs. It was translated elsewhere as “knocking on wood” – same idea, but I think “crossing fingers” is a more accurate idea of what is being expressed.

oh okay. that makes more sense than music. thanks for your invaluable translations!!

This was such a beautiful thing to wake up to today! I think they would make a beautiful couple. MUCH more appropriate, and IMO female athletes are just way cooler than the super-thin, plastic model types. Since I’m already spoken for, I would be okay with this. 😉

  5. maddy May 26, 2011 at 2:31 pm #

  8. Mais May 27, 2011 at 1:44 am #

This was awesome. And when this footage was taken I presume:
And while I’m here I’ll ask about this, does anyone know when it was taken?

    • jellyace May 27, 2011 at 8:58 am #

Mais, the photobucket pic is from an RM presser taken before the start of the 2009-2010 season (if I remember correctly) to introduce the new signings. It was taken on top of a tall building overlooking the Bernabeu. Others in the same photo shoot were Xabi and Kaka. They were also shown posing with a trophy but I’m not sure what trophy.

      • Mais May 27, 2011 at 9:03 am #

Oh okay! Yeah I could tell from Cris’s hair that it was old. Yeah my timeline is not the most reliable. It’s either people’s hair or tattoos. Haha. Thank you!!

Wow- didn’t think it would happen but you guys made an Ozil fan out of me!!! That was great.

  11. Yael May 28, 2011 at 7:35 pm #

    Unf, unf, unf.

I love both ads. She’s so awesome. I wish there was a friendly or something between a men’s team and a women’s team.

    • maddy May 28, 2011 at 10:40 pm #

can you imagine all the contact in such a game? plus, men couldnt tackle women the way they do other men. it would be fun to see who plays the sport better though.
