I Certainly Enjoyed That!

30 Jul

And honestly, that goes for both the Real Madrid/Leicester game and seeing Manchester United spank Barca. Okay, gotta admit, there was an enormous amount of satisfaction in the latter. Anyhow, great shot of Leicester’s King Power Stadium, isn’t it?
I have to be straight up honest. I’m tipsy and therefore, this is going to be all pictures and next to no text, because, yeah, been drinking.  I’ve been trying desperately to write the lit review for my thesis this week and struggling. Mr. Shiggers-to-be aka ginboon miller, was kind enough to advise me. However, the three of us stayed at the pub from about 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM and watched the Barca game. Sigh. Anyhow, our gentlemen did a good job against Leicester.

Callejon was again in the right place at the right time, when Karim did a sweet piece of business and gave a gorgeous, unselfish pass to him for the tap in at 42′. Here’s some shots of our lambs in the first half.

The teams confused the hell out of everyone by switching kits at the half. Real came back in their black away kits. At first, I thought “Am I hallucinating?” but then I looked at the first half shots and realized that they had made the switch.

In big news, Xabi shaved his beard and is looking his usual fly GQ muthafucker smooth self. Could this man be any more beautiful? I think not! Looks like he got a haircut as well.

Oh duh! And Benz scored at 61′.  Leicester’s Dyer scored a last minute goal at 88′ (much to Iker’s chagrin), but it wasn’t enough. Final score: Real Madrid 2 – Leicester City 1.

Now in the picture below, they are supposedly celebrating Karim’s goal,  but it looks more like they’re staging an intervention. Possibly about the flatness of Fauxnando’s hair? Seriously, that’s the kind of thing that can affect a team’s reputation!

The boys got a trophy for this win and it was presented to our illustrious cup killer, Sergio Ramos. He’s got a pretty tight grip on that. Bless.

Mad props have to go out to Leicester City’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel (son of legendary Manchester United net minder Peter), who made a number of fantastic saves to keep the score that low.

Impressive as hell. The other surprise of the day was Manu Adebayor was in the audience tonight, watching the game. A fan took a photo and it made it’s way around Twitter.

When Mou was asked whether Adebayor was there to seal a transfer to Real Madrid, he said: “He is here because he is our friend and he belongs to us. It doesn’t matter if Adebayor is playing at Real Madrid or Manchester City or another club, he is one of us. When Adebayor called us asking permission to come here today, there was not one second of thought. Adebayor was with us in the dressing room and he is always welcome. If he comes he comes, if he doesn’t, it doesn’t matter. We will all know by August 31 who is in and who is out. But today Adebayor came as a friend and he is always welcome.”  Manu obviously loves and wants to be a part of the team. I really hope they will find room for him. I’d rather have someone who really wants to be there than a mercenary like Tevez or a potential immature behavioral issue like Neymar. He also said about Karim:  “There is no speculation. He is not for sale, no chance.”   So that’s that. Mou also posed with Leicester City coach Sven-Göran Eriksson, which makes me giggle because it just reminds me of Special 1 TV.

I love Special 1 TV! Next stop for Los Blancos is China and off they go (Sven pointing the way) and me? I’m heading to bed. Have to be up by 6 AM to start working on this lit review. Argh. HALA MADRID (and suck it, Barca! Sorry, couldn’t resist!) 😉  xoxo

I love our boys! :’) Karim really is on fire at the moment isn’t he?!
But I have an issue with that super-smexy black kit… :/ It is without a collar for Cris to ‘pop’. It was my brother who pointed this out; anyone else agree with us that he probably cried? XD Bless :’) In his honour I am wearing a polo with the collar popped today, just, you know, so he knows I am aware of his sacrifice wearing the black jersey 😉

I loved that sort-of-robot dance which Benz did after he scored that goal! c:

Thank you for this! My internet was slow so the stream kept pausing and I could not watch one complete play.

And at the 2nd half I was rooting for the white kits and then whoa! I realized it was the other team. Complete wardrobe change! I wonder why.

Iker posted a pic of himself with Manu on his FB page, which google translated to: “We finished the game we’ve played on English soil with the result 1-2. Callejon goals and Benzema. In addition, we received a visit from “Manolito” Adebayor. Sends you a hug!!”

Can I just comment on the hilarity of Iker’s hand gesture? Like he’s presenting a brand new dish or something hahaha. Yeah, I notice stuff like that 😉 Thanks for the photo!

As an arsenal fan aswell as a real madrid fan man united beating barcelona doesn’t give me too much pleasure as I don’t particularly like either team haha, although it is nice to see that Barcelona are not as ‘perfect’ as some people like to believe haha.

I have to say that I LOVE the black kits on our team as they make them all look even more gorgeous than they already are (not an easy task!), i mean ronaldo with the black and his tan *swoooon*.

p.s I have to say the goal celebration/intervetion picture really made me laugh. Ozil looks so worried about him, bless!

Well, I’m not a fan of Man Utd either, but if it’s a choice between them and Barca… 😉

I’m crazy about the away kits too. Totally gorgeous!

They gave the cup to Sergio? What were they thinking?!?

  5. AnnaBuena July 31, 2011 at 12:06 pm #

I was so happy I was able to catch the match. It was pretty awesome to see Higuain with rest of the boys again! 🙂

Oh, and is Sergio wearing his headband differently now?

    • AnnaBuena July 31, 2011 at 12:09 pm #

Another question: why didn’t Sergio turn over the captain’s armband when Iker went in? Just curious. 🙂

Was glad to Sergio play again. I’ve missed him in the last two games…

        Because he’s a rebel like that. 😉

Oh – Mourinho on Adebayor. I feel EXTREMELY tearful all of a sudden – like I always do on the subject of my beloved Manolito.

If Madrid buys him, I will forgive Perez EVERYTHING.
