Fun Time Is Over!

10 Aug

Just in case we weren’t aware what is about to happen this weekend, Real Madrid reminded us by posting the two crests we dread seeing together on the front page. Sigh. Those who weren’t on international duty had to practice and there’s a wealth of Mesut and Sami action including the most adorbs picture ever!

I don’t know if you guys noticed, but in many of the pre-season pictures, Mou & Mesut were joined at the hip. Our Fun Size German and the Mister are cooking up all sorts of plans for the season, no doubt. Can’t wait.

For those of you who didn’t get to watch the international matches, Italy beat Spain 2-1.  Xabi scored on a penalty kick. Valdes fell on his arse and the ball deflected off him for the winning goal. Sigh. Nando was subbed out just before 15 minutes. He was limping so everything thought it was an ankle or hamstring injury. It was reported that he said he couldn’t hear and felt dizzy. Turned out upon examination that he had a light concussion. Poor boo! He and Sergio should convalesce together.  Pique got injured and was taken out but lo and behold! he was fine. Guess he’ll get a nice rest before Saturday while our Madridistas will be wiped out. Heavy sigh.

Germany beat Brazil 3-2 (Schweini, Gotze and Schurrle scored for Die Mannschaft while Robinho and Neymar netted for Brazil). France and Chile tied 1-1 (Remy & Cordova respectively) – I heard Benz had a great game.  Poor Luxembourg. Portugal spanked them 5-0. On the score sheet: Postiga, Ronaldo, Coentrao and two for Almedia.

I’ll try to do some sort of international update later, but I’m not feeling very well today. Please bear with me! Getting excited and nervous for Sunday, aren’t you?

    Get well soon!
The second Italy goal was a little painful but kind of funny (I’m mean, I know), Valdez kind of just stumbled the wrong way and sat down… hope he does some of that during the clasico! And OMG I’m madly attracted to Claudio Marchisio, every time I see him on my screen I die a little. Eek!
BTW while I was watching the Germany-Brazil game (I was alternating between games) my stream froze during the German anthem and I got to drool over Mats Hummels for about 15 seconds! The first time I’ve ever been glad that my stream froze!

Luckily none of our players got hurt, but poor Fernando! Concussions can be pretty serious 😦

Thanks! I got a spiffy little concussion last September and it sucked. Poor Nando. Claudio Marchisio is so gorgeous. Shigs and I got to see him play with Juventus last month. And through the binocs? Just as gorgeous.

That match was crazy – Juve has 6 Drool alums on the squad (Buffon, Marchisio, Del Piero, Pirlo, Matri and Amauri). All of them but Amauri were on the pitch at one point. 5 Drools at one time. It was like getting whiplash trying to check them all out.

      Mmmmm, Mats….

Mama mia! I totally have a crush un Juventus at the moment! Their players are just so (!!!) <- to borrow from Una. Especially Gigi, Alex, and Claudio!
Mats! He looks so much like Orlando Bloom to me (good thing, obviously!) Mmmm in deed!

I was watching the Italy-Spain friendly and thought it was going to end a draw 😦 I felt bad for Víctor, I thought he was going to keep a clean-sheet until the pinball against Albiol sent him the wrong way 😦

In any case, here’s hoping Piqué’s calf is healed for him to play on Sunday otherwise I am seriously concerned for my team’s defence. On the subject of the Supercopa- Fingers crossed it doesn’t end up like Apocalypse April! So long as both teams are sporting and try their best, it should be a brilliant game 🙂

It could have happened to anyone – it sucked. Look at Iker – he went free range (as usual) and that’s what made the first goal possible. I have to say, I thought Italy was the stronger team today and deserved the win.

I’m with you – I want both teams on their best behavior and playing the game of their lives. We know they’re both capable of brilliant football – that’s what they need to show us.

Was happy to see Xabi take the PK — he’s a dead eye! Wasn’t happy that he played the whole game. Tsk, tsk, VDB.

I know! I was like “AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! He needs to rest, damn it!”

Oh, and when he had that misstep and grabbed his ankle, I think my life practically flashed before my eyes. Noooooooo!!!!!!! And then he walked it off like the BAMF he is.

They call him “the lung” for a reason, so hopefully he’ll be good to go on Sunday. I think I’m already breaking out in flop sweat!

    Baby Mesut & Mou! SQUEEEEEEEEEEE!

    • Jenny August 11, 2011 at 12:40 am #

They looked so happy together in the preseason! Mou is pleased. Mesut is no longer so intimidated by him.

      *Sigh* someone should write it!

So – I’m on vacation in the Keys with the family and we finally bust out the laptop to check out the weather. Between boat drinks, snorkeling events and cleaning up after the kids, it’s been tough to get a minute to sit down and just do some surfing on my favorite sites. I can’t believe how much I have missed! We left Friday afternoon, so like 5 days worth…
The big bummer is that we may be driving home right in the middle of the SuperCopa! sonamabitch! Although I may be able to listen on XM…. must investigate,,,
I have a scorching sunburn, but I got to see my sons catch their first lobsters ever, *proud mom^
Alright, back to Pina Coladas and Jimmy Buffett songs…

    • shiggers August 11, 2011 at 6:53 am #

That was about the meanest post ever. Lobster and pina coladas? Shame on you for making us all jealous!

Oh LORD, HERE WE GO AGAIN, it has been nice knowing you guys 😉 I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled oogling of the Real Madrid boys a few days after August 17 when things calm back down! (Or longer if it gets ugly BUT PLEASE NOOOOO, NOT AGAIN!!!)

Just replenished my stock of Pepto Bismol for the Super Copa. Bringing a stretcher with me to the pub, as well, just in case I die during the match.

I’m hoping for a fantastic match! Hala Madrid!!! 🙂
