Ah, I am soooo behind on posts. My apologies. Today I was running around doing errands and had to take the cat to the vet.  When it’s time for your pet to go in, they call out their name and your last name, so for instance “Cloe Fabregas” or “Horsey Ramos-Torres”  Well, anyhow,  the vet tech had a weird look on his face, looked twice at the sheet and then called out “Tuffy Two Shoes Goldstein.”  TTSG turned out to be a tiny (really wee, I mean, not more than 3-4 pounds) purse dog with a pink bow in it’s hair and she pranced past us daintily. The entire waiting room was stunned into silence.  After the dog and owner were safely out of range we all cracked up and couldn’t stop laughing.  Amazing. So that’s what I did with my Saturday (thus far). Now it’s time to catch you up with the wonder that is Xabi Alonso. I think staring at pictures of him is worth an entire post, don’t you?

Xabi was in a mall on Friday for an Adidas event (yeah, you heard me, a mall…) and he met with fans, signed autographs and talked about the team.
A translation of interview excerpts from RealMadrid.com is below.

Xabi Alonso: “We have a very good squad and we must respond on the pitch”

“The coach always chooses the starting lineup he wants; it’s up to him whether to use a rotation system or not”

Xabi Alonso attended an Adidas presentation act on Friday in a mall. The midfielder signed autographs for fans and talked about Real Madrid’s run in the season so far.

“Well, no doubt we have a good feeling about the season so far. It’s important to start with a victory away from home and we’re excited. We know the road ahead is long and that the first steps we take are very important. Our first was very good and we must keep this up.”

“Well, luck is something to be sought, but I do hope the red shirt brings us luck. I like it very much and Im very fond of it because of my past. I hope it does give us a little extra push to be successful in the future.”

“I hope we win the league title. We had a good start to the season and we have a good feeling about it. We are making progress and I believe there’s even more room for improvement. There are still 36 games left and we have to take things slowly.”

“I believe we’re used to playing a game every three days and we shouldn’t feel tired. The coach will choose the most suitable lineup for each match. Its up to him whether to use a rotation system or not. I believe we’ll be ready for that.”

“I believe we’re making progress. We do things better each year. I don’t know if we’re the best Real Madrid side there’s ever been because it’s complicated to make comparisons, but I do know the squad is very good. We have to respond on the pitch to achieve something important at the end of the season.”

The same day, Xabi was seen out and about doing errands with his beautiful wife, Nagore. How on earth do these to manage to look so effortlessly cool, approachable and drop dead gorgeous all at once? Flawless couple is flawless. I love them so much!

    Get well soon Max!
Nagore and Xabi have matching sunglasses! Totally adorable!

Is it true that Albiol is getting sold to Malaga in January? 😦

Sid Lowe was tweeting about it on twitter, I hope it isn’t true…

There’s a lot of speculation. Mou said people are making up stories to sell papers. The other story is El Pirata being sold. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the winter transfer window.

Thanks for the good wishes on Max. I’m waiting for his test results to come back. He’s not feeling very well. Right now, he’s curled up next to me napping. 🙂

honestly if they arent being used by madrid (they arent even being included in the squad anymore) i hope they do get a chance to play elsewhere. i heard arsenal is making a play for esteban. i hope its true. i’m so mad that granero isnt even on the bench at madrid anymore. i hate it when young players waste away at big clubs and i hope they make the smart choice to move elsewhere for a couple of years, at least on loan.

Xabi looks awfully gingery in the first set of pics. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. 🙂

That’s what I thought too! The gingery-er the better! 😀

“Patchy Casillas” ::snort:: Poor Max isn’t feeling well, I’m hoping it’s something minor. The doctor did some tests on him (and he was a very good boy!) and we should know tomorrow. He’s napping right now and seems to be much happier than he has been over the past day or two.

Aww well it’s great to hear he’s feeling better! Let him watch tomorrow’s match with you, that’s my ideal medicine 😀

My vet office does that too. And since I’m a complete nerd and named my ginger kitteh Xabi, I get to hear them call “Xabi (insert my last name here)”. They even pronounce it correctly most of the time.
Although the other day, the actual doctor did say “Xavi.” I’m pretty sure I got the crazy eyes…
