Sepp Blatter, You Enormous Douche!

16 Nov

Noted FIFA dickhead Sepp Blatter is at it again. He’s declared that there is “no racism” in football. Oh really? He also suggested that players settle racist incidents (you know, the ones that don’t happen) with a handshake. To which I only have one thing to say:

Shake this, muthfucka!

God, what a disgusting, despicable man he is. His head is so far up his own arse it’s a miracle that he hasn’t completely turned inside out. Here’s more from the Guardian…

Fifa’s Sepp Blatter: settle race rows with handshakes

• President denies racism between players is a problem
• Issues statement later underlining anti-racism credentials
FA charges Liverpool’s Luis Suárez with making racist remarks

Fifa’s president, Sepp Blatter, on Wednesday provoked a furious backlash after claiming racist abuse between players in games should be settled by a handshake.

Asked if he thought there is racism on the pitch, Blatter told CNN: “I would deny it. There is no racism, there is maybe one of the players towards another, he has a word or a gesture which is not the correct one. But also the one who is affected by that, he should say that this is a game.

“We are in a game, and at the end of the game we shake hands, and this can happen, because we have worked so hard against racism and discrimination. I think the whole world is aware of the efforts we are making against racism and discrimination. And, on the field of play sometimes you say something that is not very correct, but then at the end of the game, the game is over and you have the next game where you can behave better.”

He added on Al Jazeera: “During a match you may say something to someone who’s not looking exactly like you, but at end of the match it’s forgotten.”

The Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand said on Twitter: “Tell me I have just read Sepp Blatter’s comments on racism in football wrong … if not then I am astonished.

“I feel stupid for thinking that football was taking a leading role against racism …it seems it was just on mute for a while. Just for clarity if a player abuses a referee, does a shake of the hand after the game wipe the slate clean??”

Ferdinand also directly contacted the Fifa president’s Twitter page, writing: “Sepp Blatter your comments on racism are so condescending its almost laughable. If fans shout racist chants but shake our hands is that ok?”

Kick It Out also condemned Blatter and claimed his comments revealed a lack of leadership on the subject. “These comments are worryingly out of touch,” the anti-racism group said.

“Shaking hands to compensate for a racial slur is not what the game has signed up to, and trivialises the work of campaigns like Kick It Out, which has been in the vanguard of rooting out discrimination and unacceptable behaviour in our game for the best part of two decades.

“High-profile incidents have brought the issue of racism back into sharp focus. But complaints are still being lodged at grassroots level. Shaking hands doesn’t resonate with the zero-tolerance approach we encourage and certainly wouldn’t resonate with the victim of the abuse.

“Report the incident to the regulatory body, and the investigation process begins. If it’s found to be proven, action must be taken. New challenges and questions are being posed in this field every day.

“But leadership is needed to make headway. And comments like this don’t help in the ultimate goal of kicking racism out football and making it a discrimination-free zone.”

The players’ chief, Gordon Taylor, told BBC Radio Five Live: “It’s ironic that Sepp Blatter should come out and talk like that because we’ve worked hard to get Fifa to have anti-racism on the agenda. It’s very insensitive and inappropriate at this time.

“When as the president of Fifa he’s got to be shouting from the top of the hills that it’s unacceptable on the pitch. We want players to set an example to the rest of the world and particularly the supporters.”

Blatter later released a statement on the Fifa website, accompanied by a picture of him hugging the South African housing minister, Tokyo Sexwale, saying: “I would like to make it very clear, I am committed to the fight against racism and any type of discrimination in football and in society. I have been personally leading this battle against racism in football, which Fifa has been fighting against throughout the past years through campaigns in all of our competitions such as the ‘Say no to racism’ campaign.

“I also know that racism unfortunately continues to exist in football, and I have never denied this. I know that it is a big problem in society, and that it also affects sport. I strongly believe that we should continue to fight all together against racism on and off the field of play, in order to eradicate this plague.

“My comments have been misunderstood. What I wanted to express is that, as football players, during a match, you have ‘battles’ with your opponents, and sometimes things are done which are wrong. But, normally, at the end of the match, you apologise to your opponent if you had a confrontation during the match, you shake hands, and when the game is over, it is over. Anyone who has played a football match, or a match in any sport, knows that this is the case.

“Having said that, I want to stress again that I do not want to diminish the dimension of the problem of racism in society and in sport. I am committed to fighting this plague and kicking it out of football.”

Oh, poor “misunderstood” Sepp Blatter! ::rolls eyes:: He makes my fucking skin crawl. Every time I think he can’t sink any lower, he manages to do so.  If you can stomach it, here’s video.

Thanks to watishista notoriousjk for being on top of this and sending me the info. I was merrily sorting through left over La Roja pictures to post and missed the beginning of the kerfuffle. When are they going to get rid of this out of touch, racist, sexist, homophobic bastard? What will it take?

Why is this A$$HOLE still in charge? Can’t anything be done to get him out of office. What a douchebag.

I’m starting to believe that nothing will get him booted out of office or get him to step down. It’s unreal. Just complete and utter bullshit, isn’t it? Urgh.

this is just sad. and a slap in the face to everyone who has been on the receiving end of racism. ‘be a sport and move on’. ???

What the actual fuck. I agree with rio. How is it that you can’t verbally challenge a refereeing decision but you can abuse the hell out of a player? Go die in a corner under a huge rock in the bottom of a deep pit in the middle of nowhere, Sepp. Back where you came from.

How is he allowed to still be in office? This just makes FIFA look more and more like a joke. Except this joke isn’t funny.

Sepp Blatter is a despicable man! As a South African I am offended by his token picture with Tokyo Sexwale, that’s just a cheap publicity stunt!
Good on Rio Ferdinand (and everyone else who said something!) for confronting him about his statements!
Racism, homophobia and every form of bigotry can only be erased if it’s confronted, addressed and dealt with!
Sepp Blatter’s opinion is a shocking reflection of the views that many people still have on this matter and how much still needs to be done! The fact that he is president of Fifa is just fucking unacceptable!

“His head is so far up his own arse it’s a miracle that he hasn’t completely turned inside out.” — such creative imagery, it had me laughing.

This man deserves a heart attack soon (i know, bad juju) but how else is he going to leave office?

Blatter has now released a statement saying his comments were “misunderstood.” This guy is so completely out of touch with the real world and with the sport! Everything he does is above and beyond stupid.

If anyone has Fox Soccer, Eric Wynalda had a one-on-one interview with Blatter and it airs next week. I’d love to see what other comments we can “misunderstand.”

  11. emily November 17, 2011 at 10:45 pm #

Am looking forward to the Wynalda interview next week. It’s supposed to be in a few parts. Don’t know how I can keep up with it! Regardless, even if Blatter were to step down or get booted out, he will be replaced with yet another like-minded dinosaur from the current support group. However, some recent discussion has supported the notion that Platini (current head of UEFA) will take over for Blatter somewhere in the next couple of years. Platini actually played futbol, quite well, so he has a better grasp of life on the field. Just wish that he would do something about that stupid Qatar WC decision, if and when he gets there. Sepp Sepp Sepp. *wags head in utter dismay*
