UPDATED: Champions League Time Again!

6 Dec

The Real Madrid photogs were obsessed with Mou handing out bibs at training today since most of the pictures were of that. What a waste of beautiful pictures of the boys in their blue training outfits!

See what I’m saying? It’s all about Mou today. Which, okay, I love him, but they’re in blue! They look gorgeous in blue! Hopefully, more pictures of training will surface eventually.

Here’s who got the call  up:

Goalkeepers: Adan, Tomas Mejias, Pacheco
Defenders: Arbeloa, Coentrao, Varane, Albiol, Mendes
Midfielders: Kaká, Ozil, Di Maria, Sahin, Altintop, Callejon, Granero, Xabi Alonso
Forwards: Higuain, Benzema, Jese

As you can  see Cris, Marcelo, Sergio, Iker, Pepe, Sami and Lass were left out – undoubtedly being rested for the Clasico.  Castilla’s Pedro Mendes and Jese along with Real Madrid C’s Pacheco got called up.

I’m glad to be seeing some of the others getting playing time. I’m betting the Mesut and Xabi won’t see much time if any. I think they should be rested as well.

I can’t believe that we’re only a few days away from the Clasico. Argh.  I’m not going to even start thinking about that until after the Ajax match tomorrow. One game at a time.

UPDATED: Finally some more training shots!

    Any ideas as to who’s going to be captain for the game?

      My guess would be Pipita. He falls 4th in line, IIRC.

        ok, that’s what I thought. Thanks!

          Pipita should be captain, as he is fourth in line.

          What will be crazy is if Shelf-Booty doesn’t play 90 minutes – who will get the captain’s armband then?? I believe that everyone else called up for the game was signed in 2009 or later. Maybe Xabi can get a few minutes in as el capitan? That would be hot…

    I hope what AS reports is true regarding Esteban Granero starting alongside Nuri. It’s about time My Pirate starts (and play the whole game eventually), Mou! This is a non-bearing game for us, the likes of Xabi and Ozil shouldn’t even be called up for this game. Give the bench players their chance to play. And why are we risking Arbie before D-10?! I thought he’ll be rested for that game esp since he just recovered from injury. Poor Nacho and Dani C., they should’ve been called up instead of Mendes..

    Geez, i’m already ranting. Pre-clasico jitters i guess, haha! Anyhow, Hala Madrid!

      I would LOVE it if El Pirata and Nuri started. I’d really like to see them in action together.

    I love Jese!! I hope he plays.

    And I am totally with you on the blue… they really need the female touch at a lot of these photo opps. I am happy to offer my help.

    I am a little confused with the Spanish nicknames. Is Jese pronounced with a hard J (Giese) or a soft J (Hese)? Is Jordi (as in Alba) pronounced with a hard J (Geordi) or a soft J (Hordi)?

    Maybe to play safe, I shall pronounce the following with a soft J (H):
    jajajajajaja = hahahaha
    Jornanda = hornada
    Journey = ???

      To confuse you even more; the ‘correct’ pronounciation would change according to where he is/ is from. Por ejemplo, in Catalunya – Zhessay (Not ‘sh’, ‘zh’ is harder.) In certain American countries: Yessay. In Madrid is probably Hessay, with the H pretty much silent.

      Hope I helped 🙂

        Oh no! Now we’re moving into the Shabi-Chavi territory!
