Work It!

12 Jan

The boys trained today in preparation for Saturday’s clash with Mallorca. Everyone seemed in high spirits and rocked the epic cuteness. How lush does Sergio’s hair look? Damn.

Calleti seems to be a serious contender to take away Mesut’s crown for most bromances! But if he gets between Arbeloa and Albiol, I will be most displeased with him!

After years of being with Reebok, Iker will now be working with Adidas. He presented his new boots and gloves at the Santiago Bernabeu store and had a little interview with him. In attendance were the ever “creative” RM photogs. Now Iker is one of the most beautiful men in creation, however, they managed to get just about every angle that least flattered him. There were a few exceptions where even they couldn’t ruin the hot, but lordy… Anyhow, here are all the pictures – you can see for yourself. I especially like the artsy, out of focus Iker. ::rolls eyes::

Casillas: “We want to do better than we did last year”
by Edu Bueno / Translation by Michael J. O’Donnell

Iker Casillas talked shop in an act in which he presented his new Adidas gloves and boots in the store at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

“I can’t aspire for more because I’m at the best possible place. One grows older, more mature and experienced each year. I feel better than I did years ago because I know myself better. We’re having a very good season on a collective level. We’re managing to be regular, which is the goal we set ourselves at the start of the season. There’s a long way to go, but we wanted to still be alive in the three championships. The toughest months await us and we want to be fresh in March and April in order to fight for the titles.”

“Our secret is the constancy of the squad; we are ambitious and we want to improve. This is practically a new team. The team was renovated with younger players last season. It won’t be easy, but we want to give a little more this year. That’s our objective.”

“We’re doing a good job and I only think about Real Madrid. We want to keep doing well to still be in first place at the end of the season to win the league title. We’re focusing on that, but we don’t lose track of the others either. The league is constantly at stake for us. We’re aware of what happened against Levante and Racing, where we dropped five points. We’ve managed to move on from that and to increase our lead over Barcelona. Those running behind have to win in order to avoid falling further behind.”

“We’ll have to wait and see what the next Copa del Rey ties will be like. We could face either Barcelona or Osasuna. We shouldn’t obsess about the tie. It will be beautiful. Draws are somewhat capricioius and we’re going to wait. Our minds are set on Mallorca. The less the better because too much of one thing can be exhausting. We played four games against Barcelona in a short time last year and the same may happen again this season. We’ll try to do well in both games to reach the next round. It happens so often that it seems to be deprived of its own thrill aspect. They did better last time, but that changes from one day to the next. We’ll take a further step forward if we win the league title and reach the Champions League final, but we know it won’t be easy.”

“You don’t savour things until time moves on. Demands are high every year. I’ll truly realise I’ve been named best goalkeeper in the world a fourth year running once my career ends. You always aspire to do that as a child. I won it the first time in 2008 and I’m proud to do so again, but I don’t like to brag.”

“Cristiano Ronaldo is a very competitive player who always tries hard and wants to do his best. People will always ask a lot of him because of the sort of player he is. He wants to do his best for himself and for the club. The Bernabeu crowd is very demanding, and that’s a good thing. There is no debate about his quality. He has always had the support of the fans.”

“I would like to win the Champions League and La Liga now that I have the Copa del Rey. We hope to win the latter again, but it won’t be easy.”

Yep. They took a picture of the plaster of paris where Iker was about to immortalize his hand prints. Scintillating subject! He looks drunk in half those pictures. Argh.

It’s the hair…those unruly bangs going every which way but right. Makes Iker look dopey.
