Gearing Up For Zaragoza

28 Jan

I’m a little late and behind with the updates from yesterday/this morning. Shiggers and I had a long overdue “just the two of us girls night out dinner” and I’m, um, ‘preparing for tomorrow’s game.’ As you do. The boys left the Mirasierra Suites and headed on to Valdebebas for a bit of light stretching. A few things I’ve noticed: Albiol’s hair still hasn’t been cut, the Arbeloa freeze out continues and Iker Casillas has some seriously skinny pale legs. Granted, nothing we didn’t already know but…

As predicted, a bunch more pictures showed up from yesterday’s training, so here you go! Training legs!

Also from yesterday, were some translated excerpts from Aitor Karanka’s press conference:

From RealMadrid.com

Karanka: “The squad only thinks about La Liga and defeating Zaragoza”
by Antonio M. Leal / Translation by Michael J. O’Donnell

“What matters is that the fans support the team”

Assistant coach Aitor Karanka addressed the media the day prior to facing Zaragoza in La Liga.

“The squad is thinking about the match against Zaragoza, which will surely be difficult. Despite the shape they’re in, they managed to cause an upset against us last year. The squad only thinks about winning and giving another good performance.”

“What matters is that the fans support the team. Whenever they chant the coach’s name he points to the pitch so that the audience supports the players, which is the most important thing of all. I believe Mourinho is as excited as ever, if not more, in every game.”

“Real Madrid players know how to lose gracefully. This club’s history has us accustomed to winning and not losing that way. I think the team gave a spectacular image against Barcelona. It’s just another game now; we must remember the impression we made and think about our next league game.”

Called up for today’s match were the following players:

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Adan, Jesus
Defenders: Marcelo, Varane, Albiol, Pepe, Coentrao, Arbeloa, Carvalho
Midfielders: Lass, Xabi Alonso, Ozil, Callejon, Sahin, Granero, Kaka, Altintop
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Higuain, Benzema

Angel and Sami are still injured (although the latter joined training yesterday – whooooo!) while Sergio is suspended.

I wish someone would take Altintop to a good barber/stylist/waxer. A haircut, shave & eyebrow wax would do him wonders.
