Last Pre-Clasico Training Session, Presser, Out To Lunch

20 Apr

Sorry for being so late with today’s update. I was in meetings all morning and this is the first break I’ve had all day. So, it’s that time again. How did El Clasico sneak up on us so quickly? Sigh. The boys looked in high spirits during training, so that’s good!

I would LOVE to know what Albiol is acting out here that's giving Mesut the giggles.

I think we need to get that hair visor for Iker sooner rather than later!

Aitor Karanka spoke to the press and since it’s before the Clasico, I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all.

Karanka: “We will play the same way we did in our last three games at the Camp Nou”
by Diego Jabalquinto / Translation by Michael J. O’Donnell

“Statistics and numbers show this team is giving spectacle, and that’s why I believe it deserves to win the championship”

Assistant coach Aitor Karanka talked to the press ahead of tomorrow’s 20:00 CET clash with Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

“We will play the same way we did in our last three games at the Camp Nou. We did everything in our power in three different championships and gave good performances. We drew and scored three goals. Our attitude doesn’t have to be any different tomorrow.”

“I believe the three points at stake are important because there fewer games left in the competition. Whatever the score, four games will remain and we’ll continue to work as naturally as we’ve been doing so far. Win, draw or lose, this team is doing a very good job this year and we will keep it up. Tomorrow’s match is as important as all the rest that remain. Barcelona are our most immediate opponent and taking points against them is important, but there are five games left in the championship and we will continue fighting to the end.”

“This team’s attitude both on and off the pitch is fantastic and that’s why we’ve earned these numbers. We’ve sometimes failed to do more due to things that are beyond our control.”

“Having a chance to break the 107 goal record is important and historic. Goals are synonymous of spectacle in football, therefore they’re important. Statistics and numbers show this team is giving spectacle, and that’s why I believe it deserves to win the championship.”

“The team isn’t tired. We’ve sustained suspensions and rotations on occasion. I truly believe the team isn’t tired, especially for a match like the one we’ll play tomorrow. The entire squad is ready to play and that is very important. It is essential to have them all in full form in the little that remains of the season.”

“Di Maria and Ozil are fit to play as starters tomorrow because they trained well today. They are great players. Di Maria was injured for a long time and it’s normal for people to compare his current form with the great performances he gave before being injured. There’s nothing I can say about Ozil that no one knows so far. I believe they can both be very important for us tomorrow.”

“The match has every ingredient to be appealing. Two great squads will come face to face and there will be an amazing atmosphere at the stadium. I hope everything unfolds normally and that people are satisfied with these ingredients. I want everyone to see a good game.”

Sergio, El Pirata and Oscar Ribot did a bit of lunching together in Madrid.

Serata? Yeah. I'm shipping it. How about you?

You know when you’ve never thought about some sort of combination? And then you try it and then you’re like “OH HELL YES! THAT WAS JUST WHAT I WANTED AND NEEDED!” That’s kinda how I feel about these two together. Didn’t realize I wanted that bromance till just now. I hereby christen them Serata. I like that. Makes them sound like a sexy knife…of love.

So as we move towards tomorrow’s match, let’s hope we end up looking like this:

Rather than looking like this…. (Nando shot courtesy of GFSports).

Two footballers who wear properly fitted and tasteful jeans! A miracle. The rest of them need to stop with the massive boot cuts, zippers and rips.

I’ll definitely ship them. I mean, it’s really a bromance you would have never thought about (just look at their music taste …) but it looks SO GOOD. And I really love Sergio’s outfit. You can do it simple like that and it’ll be better than a bunch of LV & Gucci stuff on you. This picture with the car seems weird, but maybe it’s just because I don’t like cars like that. Whatever 😀

No I agree with you about the shot with his car… he looks like a giant trying to awkwardly get into that tiny thing. Not his best shot, but oh well! At least he still wears his promise ring from Fernando when he’s shipping with his teammates, Sernando will always remain #1 🙂 Speaking of Nando, he looks like a hot, bitchfacing elf in that pic, me totally gusta! 😉

      • sweethearthalo April 21, 2012 at 4:12 am #

Now when you say it I totally see the elf. Hopefully our elf will kick some dwarfs arses in Barcelona 😉

I thought he looked so nice and classic today. Like most guys, he looks great in well fitted jeans and a simple (tight) white t-shirt. The look is a classic for a reason, gentlemen! Pirata looks as yum as ever.

      They are precious. Serata forever!

“Makes them sound like a sexy knife…of love.”

I totally lost it right there. I love me some Serata!

    scissors. sergio’s hair. someone. please.

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 20, 2012 at 4:54 pm #

I love his hair this length. It’s healthy, it’s shiny and it bounces.

      • maddy April 21, 2012 at 5:50 am #

the hair is gorgeous. imo. it would look better if he tied it back at least. he doesnt have the most rugged features, so with the hair its femininity overdose for me.

  6. Danielle April 20, 2012 at 5:45 pm #

Oh Sergio! He seems to get better looking every day.

  7. Mia April 20, 2012 at 6:33 pm #

    • Laurean April 20, 2012 at 7:01 pm #

Oh WOW!!! I really hope you enjoy your stay there..meaning I hope we win so that you can be the only one smiling in Barcelona tomorrow 😉

    • Izan April 20, 2012 at 8:53 pm #

  9. Izan April 20, 2012 at 9:03 pm #

I hope so too. I just want to see a good, well played match.

      • Izan April 21, 2012 at 12:30 am #

Me too! Sometimes (or lately…) I’m so tired of what happend between them.I mean…when they meet, their behaviour make me feel uneasy…

  10. Izan April 20, 2012 at 9:26 pm #

Dear God…please protect them from difficulties, please give them calmness to handle the pressure, please give them wisdom to conduct the game, please give them unconditional victory…only You can help them…

  11. headbandsandheartbreak April 20, 2012 at 10:50 pm #

OMG! I just realized that there is a tiny statue of a chef behind Sergio, winking and giving a thumbs up! LMAO!

    • Izan April 21, 2012 at 12:31 am #

      Yeah!!! It approve him!!! hahaha

      • Laurean April 21, 2012 at 1:23 am #

The chef totally photobombed that pic- in Madridista fashion!!

        • jellyace April 21, 2012 at 4:22 am #

Those chef statues are made here in my town and are exported all over the world! We should photoshop “Hala Madrid” on his little blackboard!

          • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2012 at 8:04 am #

Wake up, Maisougio! It’s Photoshop time! We may have found our little HB & HB mascot. 🙂

    • Danielle April 21, 2012 at 5:13 am #

hahaha! It really looks like the chef is winking at the camera. I think he is letting us know that the view from that angle is just as good.

    • Rose April 21, 2012 at 10:43 am #

My god, the disease has spread to inanimate objects!

  12. jellyace April 21, 2012 at 4:24 am #

I approve of Serata’s outfits — simple and classic, just like Xabi would wear.

I am waiting for the day when Granero bromances Pipita so we can call them Granita — a fruit-syrup sherbet! Yum!

    • headbandsandheartbreak April 21, 2012 at 7:09 am #

That sounds yummy! Love it!!!! Alas, I dubbed those two (for blog purposes) Pirate Booty last month when they went through a hanging out phase. They even have a little tag. But we should totes call them Granita if they are extra sweet together.

      • jellyace April 21, 2012 at 11:14 pm #

Oh, Pirate Booty wins! That combination comes out only 1 in kajillion million! It is the forces of the universe in a perverse conspiracy!
