I Can’t Believe We Won That One…

6 May

He can’t believe it either…

Oh my God, that was way rough to watch. It was one of those matches that you just knew was going to be bad from the moment it started, especially after the BIG defensive mistakes that led to that opening goal. We sure as hell didn’t deserve to win but I’m glad the 100 point Liga goal is still attainable…assuming the boys have been scared out of party mode & make it work for the last match of the season!

There were two things that I enjoyed during the match, the first of them was the pasillo formed by the Granada players in honor of our La Liga Campeones. Marcelo led the way & the very different lineup, acting as Captain for the match, workin’ it as a badass fro-master does! Those players getting a rare start were, Adan, Albiol, Varane, Carvalho, and Nuri….interesting in theory but too soon after all those celebrations, I think.

Honey…the ball goes in there, not you!

So…that second thing I enjoyed about the match? It was hard to find one after our inability to score & Granada taking the lead after just five minutes, but I did find something and that was the way the commentators pronounced Jara. They gave their H-sounding J’s a little “kh” sound and what do you get when you add “Kh” to Jara? You get Khara…..which means shit in Arabic. Now, I don’t speak Arabic but I know my foul language so every time Jara did something worthy of the commentators attention, I was particularly entertained 🙂 Hopefully our last match is much, much, much better so that I am not amused by such silly khara!

Lettin’ loose more stinkers.

With only ten minutes to spare, Cris scored the equalizer by converting the penalty awarded to him after being tackled by Moises in the box. I hoped for two things as Cris got ready to shoot, that he would tie the game & NOT celebrate his goal (we had nothing to celebrate about with the way we were playing).

Things got even worse for Granada, deep into extra time, as Cortes finished off Benz’s cross – scoring an own goal. Well that’s how it happened, we just weren’t meant to lose, I guess…

Um….things got even more worse for Granada after that, totally their fault though. Moises & Siqueria both received red cards after the final whistle was blown, what happened after that was just unbelievable. Most of Granada’s men decided to surround the refs, looking like they were ready to get physical, even their coach had to run off the bench to try and prevent further craziness. Try as he may, Resino couldn’t stop Benitez from acting like a fucking idiot. The jackass thought throwing a bottle at the ref’s face and walking away would be a good idea, I heard he received a ban but I’m not sure for how many matches. The refs had to be escorted off the pitch by police, way to make an ugly match, even uglier.

Please, please, please boys make this performance up to us this weekend! We need to go out like Champions and have a good farewell to get us through the footy-less summer!

Post Match Comments:

“Another challenge of ours is taking 100 points, and this club and shirt deserve that respect till the very last minute of the competition. We have to live up to what Real Madrid stands for.”

“A draw would have been a fairer result, but these things happen in football and we wish Granada all the best next week. Real Madrid always have to do their best to win.”

“Granada seemed tense because everything is at stake for them, and this made them lose in the end. They scored the opener early on and we had more control over the game.”

“Cristiano Ronaldo is happy because his team won the title. He’s always given his all and he has the league title now. He did his best tonight. Team work always comes first.”

The boys continue to have a couple days off & will resume training on Wednesday. HALA MADRID!!!

Me too. They are my favourite European side followed by Germany. Dont fancy Spain but hoping for the best for them because of Iker, Sergio and co.

While our hungover boys probably didn’t deserve a win (can’t believe we got the three points), I was so proud to see them playing peacemaker during the fracas on the pitch, by trying to separate the Granada boys from the refs.

This summer will be the best, EURO CUP! Hopefully Spain will go and win it all, again!
