So now it’s officially summer vacay for the boys, now that they’ve gone, played, won, & come back from Kuwait. If you caught the match, you could tell they were just burnt our from their long, hard, well played season….or more likely, they’re still wiped out from celebrating! But they did manage to score two goals & delight their Kuwaiti fans.
Mou made good on his word and everyone on the squad got to play (except for Sami) & enjoyed some face time, though the players on the bench got just as much face time. Lounging Iker & waving Mou were highlights when the match got a little slow.
Altintop was the only player to play the full 90 minutes and the first sub came in the 23rd minute, when Callejon came on for Benz. Cris was going for goal, constantly, from the start of the match and surprisingly, it wasn’t him who scored the opener. Di Maria opened up the scoring in the 27th minute with a loooooooooooooooooooooooong shot from almost, but not quite mid-field.
The crowd & commentator went wild for the second goal, as it was scored by CRIIIISTIANOOOOO! He ran, leaped, and headed in his goal, which came with an Altintop assist.
The second half may not have brought any goals, but it brought a whole new lineup. Iker, Marcelo, Arbeloa, Sergio, Kaka, Lass, Albiol, Pipita, and Pepe all finished off the match.
And in true send off fashion, the boys stripped down – in thanks for our love and dedication this season. Sergio actually spelled ‘Gracias’ in sweat on his glorious pecs! Well it could’ve spelled ‘Gracias’, who really focuses on that man’s sweat patterns? Not ME!
So the next time we see our campeones, it won’t be in these jerseys! We’ll be blanco-less until the preseason, but there are lots of NT goodies to be had! Until next season, HALA MADRID!!!!!!
