UPDATED: More Euro 2012 Songs

4 Jun

I’m happy to report that all the goofy dance moves from the last post have a purpose. It’s from the Showtime 2.0 video by Estopa and La Roja. BTW, that is the guy from Estopa, not Iker as some people assumed. The video is on Hola TV. Unfortunately, I can’t embed flash here, so follow the link. It’s worth it!

It’s adorable, right? However,, the “official” song for Spain is No Hay Dos Sin Tres by David Bisbal, Cali & El Dandee which is below.

While I was looking for other official songs,  (an obsession that started after finding the Jedward horror and the awesome batshit Dutch song), I stumbled upon this post over on ONTD_Football which has many listed.

The official song of the entire Euro 2012 tournament is Oceana’s Endless Summer. It’s a bit mystifying because I’m not sure what about a bunch of people hanging around a Caribbean beach has to do with Poland and Ukraine, but hey, I really enjoyed the freestylers.

Denmark’s official song is Vi Vandt I Dag by Nik & Jay and features half naked tattooed Daniel Agger. Thank you, Denmark.

I was delighted to find that poor Ireland wasn’t stuck with that Jedward song. The official Republic Of Ireland song is The Rocky Road to Poland.

Netherlands wins on spirit alone. I found two more mind boggling support videos. This first one is by Gebroeders Ko  and is called Oranje Springt (Feat. Factor 12). It’s, erm, very…bouncy.

Nederland Is Helemaal Oranje features football chat show hosts Johan & Wilfred. I particularly like the host (Johan or Wilfred, for I do not know which is which) who looks like a considerably more pickled and gone to seed Sam Elliot which is saying something. Mr. Faux!Sam Elliott looks he’s been holding up that bar for a whole day (or several). Bless. I kinda looked like that midway through the World Cup. (Is it my imagination or does this sound like a slowed down karaoke version of City of New Orleans?)

Germany’s official song is Für Nichts Auf Dieser Welt by Roger Cicero. It’s a nice catchy piano song, but yeesh, didn’t they have a clip of Jogi Loew where he didn’t throw up his arms to show pits stains? Editing, people!

And finally, nothing can compare to this clip from the 1994 World Cup. All I’m going to say is imagine The Village People + Die Mannschaft. Yeah. I’m betting Klinsmann lives in fear of people seeing him in this.

UPDATED TO PROVIDE CORRECT LINK FOR LAST VIDEO. If anyone has more of these songs, please send them on to me.

I’m glad you clarified it wasn’t Iker. I was sure it wasn’t. I know the profile of my beloved saint, and I was sure that it was not him, but all my friends said I was crazy. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go gloat that I was very right, and my dear friends were very wrong.

what she said, except none of my friends know who he is. 😦 but yeah … that definitely didn’t look like him — the hair was all wrong, for starters!

haha that video of the Gebroeders Ko (The Ko Brothers) is very bouncy indeed, but the title of the song Oranje Springt means Oranje jumps, so yeah, it makes sense 😉
Mr. Faux!Sam Elliott is Johan Derksen. He is known as a grumbler, but he can be very funny!
