Ruh roh! Juventus is canceling their North American tour which included matches against DC United, Real Madrid and Paris St. Germain, citing scheduling issues. Thus far, World Football Challenge, has not posted anything about this. According to the linked article, DC United is pursuing another European team to fill the gap and I am assuming that the same will be done for the Real Madrid and PSG matches. I know many of you had tickets to the Vegas match and you must be PISSED.
Oh and for those wondering about our group tickets for the Real Madrid – AC Milan match, they STILL don’t have a date for when individual match tickets will be on sale. I did get a note from our sales rep the other day offering us group tickets to the Chelsea/PSG match (which many of us already have) but she still didn’t have a date. She’s pretty awesome – a big footy fan – and we’ve been in touch regularly, chatting about the Euros so we’ll definitely get a big ol’ heads up when we have a date.
I have a ticket for the Vegas game, and I..what???
Yeah, nice, right? I’m guessing they’re probably negotiating with another team to replace Juve. I wonder when World Football Challenge is going to post something? They have already sold tons of tickets. If nothing else, we’ll have a new horrifying commercial with mispronounced names to look forward to. I really hope it’s a Polish or Czech team, because if they get Sir Joe Raymos out of Sergio Ramos, can you imagine?
That is actually really funny. My son and I are still having a good laugh over Eyeker Cas-ill-as.
I bet that they really canceled because “Andre Perillio” refused to play after he heard how they butchered his name. 😉
I feel kinda bad for DC united because in professional sporting business this is such a short time to book another team, but maybe since they’re in DC they can get the president to help them out lol
*scratches head* Scheduling conflict… with what?
They’re playing the Supercoppa in China on August 11. Everyone’s guess is that they are resting up and not risking players/tiring them out beforehand. Also that China is paying them a shit ton of cash so why bother with all the pre-season stuff. http://football-italia.net/19855/supercoppa-returns-china
Hmmm…fly your players to Bumfuck, USA and make them slog through the heat there to play meaningless matches or fly your players to Bumfuck, China, and make them slog through the heat and play a match that’s only slightly less meaningless.
If I were a player I’d rather stay in Europe, train properly, and have a regular pre-season. The World Football Challenge is just as money-grubbing a venture as playing in China is, the only difference is where the money’s coming from.
well, that’s LOVELY. oh well, as long as the actual match itself isn’t cancelled, i’m okay. let’s face it, most of us are going to see RM and not their opponents (though i do feel badly for juventus fans).
thanks for the update on the NYC match, too. so annoying …
