He’s not selling out to the man! He’s keeping it indie real! El Pirata visited the kids at the Real Madrid Foundation campus and gave an inspiring speech.

Granero visits Foundation campus: “It is an honour to wear the Real Madrid shirt; enjoy!”
by Barbara Jimenez / Translation by Michael J. O’Donnell
“As a child I wished to play for this team and I’ve made it; if that’s your dream too, be sure to make it come true”
Children attending the Realmadrid Foundation’s Technification Campus were visited by Esteban Granero.
“You’re lucky to be in one of the Foundation’s campuses and to wear a shirt with the Real Madrid crest,” said the player, “You should use this opportunity well to learn and enjoy yoursleves. I never had the chance to be in this sort of campus when I was a kid because they hadn’t been developed yet. As a child I wished to play for this team and I’ve made it; if that’s your dream too, be sure to make it come true. Learn from your coaches and be sure to enjoy yourselves and to feel proud for wearing the Real Madrid shirt.”
The children had a very positive reaction to the visit. “Granero came to see us today and was right to say we are lucky to experience this campus,” said one of them, “We both love football and we’re both midfielders. He is a very good player and chose to be at the best club in the world. This has been the best experience of my life. My dream is to play for Real Madrid some day, like Granero. He told us it is a privilege to wear the Real Madrid shirt. I would like to be like him.” Another added, “His visit was like a dream come true because he is one of my favourite players. He is a great person and a great player. Today is a fantastic day for me.”
“This is a great day for the children, ” said the campus’ Tehcnical Director, Adolfo Sanchez, “It is exciting to be visited by a Real Madrid player. We’re very happy because we have 140 students, 70% of which are foreign. They are all rather good footballers; Granero was somewhat perplexed by their quality.”
I have to admit, that last line made me burst out laughing. I can just see Pirata’s furrowed brow “What is this excellence I see before me?! Why do I not have these players at Los Piratas de Granero?!”
I’m happy to see him representing the Foundation because of course I’ll be worried about his place on the team right up until the end of the transfer window.

Thank you for this post, I admit that in the past I didn’t think Granero was so attractive, but lately he’s growing on me. Oh, and “hipster Jesus” cracked me up!
He has grown on us all like organically sourced kelp. 😉
Hahaha! Great post! If Granero were not a footballer, I imagine he would be a professor teaching something obscure like Anthropology and the marriage customs of the Trobriand Indians.
Absolutely!
That’s the good thing about coming home from holidays- there’s always a Hipster post waiting for you. Esteban, Esteban, Esteban, even my granny loved him and you know how much I love him 😀
Welcome back! Keep looking – there ‘s some shirtless Esteban in your future! 😉
It’s official: I love him too! A couple of days ago he visited a centre for disabled people (he said there were a lot of madridistas there)…what a great man!
Yes, we put that picture up in one of our bits and bobs posts.
Oh, I must have missed it, thanks for letting me know!
