More Wednesday Training Shots, Some Time Off & Brazil

2 Aug

Oh dear! Iker’s all frowny-licious. I love how he’s like a grumpy old grandpa half the time. Well, another late night for me. My family was in town and I’ve been dragged around Times Square for the last 5 or so hours. Anyone who lives in NYC will know that’s the ultimate torture. So here’s a massive picture dump for you and then I need to collapse. I’m half asleep as it is. Hope I can get all these up first!

Iker and Mou had some relatively long discussion about something because there’s about a bazillion pictures of it.

“I thought you had the golf cart keys!” “I thought YOU did!”

The guys had the rest of the day off and several of them went out to dinner and hung out together. They posted these shots.

Arbeloa posted that great shot that was on the Real Madrid website earlier today. Nice to have a copy of it without the text.

Mesut has reached 6 million Facebook followers! Damn, boo! I knew you were popular, but that’s amazeballs!

And how cute are these old pictures of Nando? I just saw them and swooned more than a little bit.

Marcelo and Neymar shared a few more pictures of their Olympic adventure. I wonder why Oscar is tying Neymar’s shoe?

And that’s me done, y’all. I can barely keep my eyes open at this point. If you’re going to the game tomorrow have a great time and bring us back lots of pictures and stories. If you can fit Calleti in your handbag/backpack, all the better.

I totally understand how it feels to have to take (out of town/country) family or friends to famous attractions when they visit…I have taken people to Niagara Falls enough times to last a lifetime…and if Sergio wasn’t such a fantastic player, he could have had a great career as a model…love the solo pic of him!

You have my sympathies. 🙂 I love my family, but wow, Times Square. Ugh. And it was extra packed last night. I also have to move slower than I usually would because no one can keep up with me if I do my usual NY power walk so it was like swimming through molasses.

Native NY’er here – lived in city itself for 4 years, and earlier was out on LI. I know the walking bit. Family was so slow, they could never make thru a clear walking light! Afraid of fast lights they were. Responded: “if you ain’t walkin’ fast, you’ll be dead fast!”

They got the picture when I just kept going and wound up almost 3 blocks ahead of them – I stopped where we planned to go – FAO Schwartz! Only took ’em 5 more minutes than me!

Last visit was 1 year 9/11 anniversary. High school classmate’s brother, FDNY’r, was one of the first id’d (Father Mychael) was the first, Kevin was shortly afterwards. Haven’t been able to get back since.

PS: did you see Ramo’s videos of him out-swimming Kaka? On his twitter timeline. Guess tattoo is better, given the nasty chlorine sting he’d have if not.

I absolutely love your blog; it has become my happy place! There is nothing which helps more with escaping the stress and upsets of daily life than perving over Sergio’s torso or Nando’s arse, or dying of laughter over what our boys get up to (and your commentary!).

Though I’ve been a fan girl of The German National Team since last World cup (came here because of Mesut, but can’t leave because of Sergio), I’ve only recently fallen head over heels with Real Madrid. I take it you are a student too, so I know how busy life can get, but if you get a chance would it be possible to help me out by doing an intro post with pics of the team and their names because I can’t yet put many faces to names (and vice-versa).

Here’s a little something to get you started this evening:

    • headbandsandheartbreak August 2, 2012 at 12:49 pm #

Thanks for your kind words, Svfya! Welcome! Dreamsequence kindly provided a link to the squad list for a start, but I like your idea of having our own HB & HB version of player bios complete with their personality quirks and bromantic connections! 😉 I’ll have to get to work on that.

I’m not a student anymore but that’s recent. I’ve been working full time and going to grad school full time for the past two years. I just graduated in June and now I’m just back to working full time. Maisougio was also a student, but graduated in December. We’re both pretty busy people in general but we try to update as much as possible. Even if we can’t get to the main posts, there’s always a Daily Drool!

        Thank You Lozil and Dreamsequence!
That’s exactly what I would need help with, identifying the players to keep their (numerous) bromances straight 😉

        • headbandsandheartbreak August 3, 2012 at 10:02 pm #

I’ve started working on it! But it may take me awhile since I want to link to pictures and stuff. 🙂

OMG! That picture of Sergio … I had to remind myself to start breathing again. Fortunately his pants were not visible there! Oh well, I guess his “adventurous” fashion sense is part why I love him. Have you guys seen the video of him and Kaka swimming? I would love the be able to understand the comments of their teammates!
    It’s on footballvt.tumblr
Mesut and Marcello are just too cute!

I love this blog, you always have the best pictures!

    • headbandsandheartbreak August 2, 2012 at 12:41 pm #

Thanks! I did see the video and put it up in the latest post. My family was visiting so I was out late last night and I’ve been bombarded by work this morning. Finally got around to making a post!

Neymar passed to Oscar for his goal, so their celebration was Oscar playing with his shoes

    • headbandsandheartbreak August 2, 2012 at 12:40 pm #

Thanks! I was working so I didn’t get to see the match.

      • jellyace August 3, 2012 at 3:08 pm #

The goal celebration was Oscar “shining” (as in shoeshine) Neymar’s boots.

Sergio totally belongs in LA! I would not be surprised if he ended up there one day.

  7. MissLadya August 2, 2012 at 8:44 am #

Geez. I think I need to get some sleep too. Read the title and the first thing I thought was, “‘Brazil’? What’s this new Özil bromance? Now who’s trying to steal Özil away from Sami??” before realizing you meant the country/team XD XD

Always thought they look dorky, being driven around on those golf carts, but, OF COURSE, Xabi still manages to look like a total boss nonetheless!

Cris and his shorts … Why even bother? Just don some Speedos during training. We (the fangirls) wouldn’t complain, and you wouldn’t have to deal with all that pesky fabric 🙂

‘I wonder why Oscar is tying Neymar’s shoe?’ he is “polishing” Neymar’s shoe thanking for the assist:

Watch this Ramos vs. Kaka swimming competition! who do you think will win?…
