Fabrice Muamba Officially Retires

15 Aug

Fabrice Muamba has announced his retirement from football on the Bolton Wanderers’ website today. Here’s his full statement. All the best of luck for a long and happy life to him and his family. I’m sad to see that he had to retire, but so happy that he will be able to watch his little boy grow up.

Getting to watch your kid grow up > football.

So best wishes to him and his family, you never know, maybe he’ll discover new passions in life.

He was already studying for an accounting degree before the heart attack and was close to being finished I believe. I wonder if he’ll work for the club in some capacity? Youth coaching maybe?

I had wondered what Stu’s tweet was about. Sad 😦 I hope for the best for him with everything that comes next in his life, especially watching the bb grow up.

He’s so lucky to be alive. There seems to have been so many athletes that have died on the pitch in the past year, it truly is a miracle that he made it through that. Good luck to you, Fabrice.

i feel for him … it must be so bittersweet, but the most important things are his health and being alive and well and with his family. i wish him the very best and hope he finds contentment and satisfaction in whichever new endeavours he explores.

I guess we all knew this was coming. But we were all also hoping that he would be the one to beat the odds — which he has already. So he gets to quit while he’s ahead…well. kinda. I hope that he lives a full life and gets to meet his grandkids one day!
