Pepe was released from the hospital this morning after a night of observation. He had a CT scan and other tests while he was there. The doctors felt confident to release him and his progress will be followed by Real Madrid’s medical staff. I’m surprised that Iker wasn’t sent in for some tests as well. Sergio said he was okay and tweeted his concern for Pepe. Iker posted a shot on Facebook saying he was better and expressed concern for Pepe as well.
Pique tweeted a nice message of support for Pepe. Cheers to him for being a good sportsman.
But not everyone was so charitable. One of the writers at Mundo Deportivo said some pretty nasty shit about him. What a tool.
One thing that cheered me up a bit yesterday was seeing David Villa return to play and score after a horrific injury. Watishisto PLL shared this piccie on Facebook last night.
I love that he’s wearing a shirt with Patricia, Zaida and Olaya that says “Impossible without you” I love his little family.
Welcome back Guaje! Silva was delighted to have him back as well and tweeted his joy. Can’t wait to see both of them together on La Roja.
Let’s hope that Pepe bounces back quickly. After a day off today (much needed, IMHO) the boys return to practice tomorrow to prepare for…sigh…El Clasico. The first leg of the Super Copa is Thursday at the Camp Nou.
it was very nice of Pique. I was surprised to he honest
Did anyone watch the Barca match? The whole stadium erupted when Villa started warming up and gave him a standing ovation when he came on. And then the lads on the team did everything they could, fed him all the passes they got, so he could make a goal. It was really heartwarming. I love El Guaje!
I’m not really a fan of Pepe as a player, and while I cannot fully grasp what that Mundo Deportivo feature says about him, I should hope it is nothing of the nature of deserving it or wishing injury on him. Nice of Pique to send his wishes.
I am so thankful that our boys are ok. Iker in particular, really scared me. I couldn’t believe that he stayed on the field after a what looked like a concussion. I guess it just looked worse than what it was. About Pepe, head wounds bleed like mad, and always look worse than what they are. For that reason I wasn’t in tears but was more worried about Iker’s head. Glad to know that our capi is ok.
I hate google translate. I couldn’t tell head or tail out of that article about Pepe.
Tweeters jumped on 101 Goals for tweeting the head crash video with “Barca fans may want to view this over and over” (or something to that effect). 101 Goals later apologized to the Real Madrid fans, but I’m not sure they knew what they were apologizing for.
One of my friends and I replayed the collision to do some completely-not-expert analysis (read: we base everything off our own athletic experience with getting knocked around). Our not-expert conclusions: Iker got hit juuust low enough on the side of his face to keep his brain from getting seriously bounced around, whereas Pepe took the hit square in the forehead, and took another hit when he fell (and Iker didn’t), which was the difference. Just glad they’re both all right, though. And Villa!! Villa’s shirt was adorable. Love that.
