UPDATED: Back To Training, Bits & Bobs Including A Pirata Memory

30 Aug

The boys got back to work today. Me? I’m just struggling to keep from falling into a funk. It’s hard to believe that we won a trophy last night by beating Barca and I’m in this crap of a mood. The Pirata transfer upset me even more than I expected, our Champions League draw is total Group of Death and work has sucked completely. Ugh.  Anyhow, I’m gonna post a a few things and hope that by the time the transfer window is over and I wake up tomorrow, I’ll be in a better mood. So, yeah, training…

They probably shouldn’t have Morata & Modric stand too near to each other. It’s like having Per Mertesacker and Santi Cazorla stand next to each other in a team picture.  I’m having so much trouble looking at Null Null right now, even though I know it’s not his fault. I NEED A BUCKETFUL OF ENZO RIGHT NOW.  Sadly, there’s none to be had today and even his dad’s smile isn’t doing it for me. 😦

Mesut posted a shot of himself enjoying the football at home. Sigh. That’s nice. Whatevs.

And Alvaro posed with Pancho Varona and said he was a true artist. Yay. Hurrah.

Bojan signed to Milan which is good for them but…. ::big heavy misery-laden sigh::

Mourinho is the first coach to win a Super Cup in four countries: Spain, Portugal, England & Italy. Rah. Go team. Wish I was capable of giving a fuck right now but I’m not.

Okay, so this Pirata thing. He loves the club so much. He was so happy to be back. He did tons of charity work for the Real Madrid Foundation (spent most of his summer on it). He started with the club when he was 8. Remember how proud he was to serve as captain in that friendly game a few weeks ago? Just thinking of it makes me cry. If he had gone to a great top level club it would have been one thing, but going to a side that’s probably a shoo in for relegation? And one that currently owns Joey Barton to boot? That’s just all sorts of evil and wrong. It’s like a slap in his face. I hope to fuck there’s a buy back clause in that contract like his one in Getafe. He’s 25, people. A 4 year contract takes him to  age 29. I don’t think he’ll stay for long at QPR. I guess in a way, he’ll be able to get playing time and finally show people what he’s got. Then someone can snatch him up and give him the place he deserves. Maybe this is all part of Mou’s plan? Cruel to be kind? Send him to a place where he’s assured to be focused on and utilized? Where he can be a shining star?  I just don’t even know.

Here’s a video of El Pirata and Xabi hanging with Quique González.  Pirata even plays guitar for Quique. Enjoy our little hipster pirate in happier days. Una had a bit about the interview as well.

And on that note, I’ll take my sad and sorry arse off for the evening. I’m going on a twilight tour of Green-Wood Cemetery, one of my favorite places in Brooklyn. It’s fitting with the mood I’m in today. Emo, party of one, your table is ready!

UPDATED: God bless watishista drea who just shared a link – there’s a buy back clause in the contract! WHOOOO! Best news I’ve heard all day long.

– Lozil, in mourning

Tomorrow’s my country’s 50th anniversary of independence. Golden Jubilee. We’ve been celebrating it all year long, and now i don’t even feel like going to the parade anymore:( and I’ve been looking forward to this since FOREVER! Emotions<———i hate you right now.

    I’m dead inside…

Lozil, I’m mourning with you. I just don’t understand how they dare to do it with him. I’m sad with the club. I’m frustrated it happened and just wish him the best. 😦

Aww that video ;( Pirata can’t be on the same team as his idol Xabi anymore wahhh 😦

Slightly off topic but that picture of Arbeloa looks like it was taken at the market near Plaza Mayor and I was just there a few weeks ago!!! Anyone living in Madrid can confirm this?

    • Anna August 30, 2012 at 9:46 pm #

i was there a few weeks ago too, and i thought the same thing! wish arbeloa had been there when i went 😦

      • theaballeza August 30, 2012 at 10:18 pm #

I kept on the lookout and sadly didn’t see any players.

    • Christine August 31, 2012 at 1:54 am #

Yeah, that’s what I thought too. It is definitely the San Miguel market close to Plaza Mayor and I have been there 2 weeks ago!!!! Every time I’m in Madrid I hope to run into one of the boys but still didn’t have any luck 😦

      • Anna August 31, 2012 at 4:09 am #

sadly they were all in america when i was in madrid, so i wasn’t expecting to bump in to any of them :/

I’m glad you’ve acknowledged it is not the players fault. I wish everyone realized that. Yesterday a death-wish was being re-tweeted about Modric.

I am so bloody-minded and perverse, of course, that I am now officially his biggest fan and I hope he does brilliantly. It was the same for me with Altintop.

As for Pirata – there’s a buy-back clause, so I expect he’ll be back. You can’t expect clubs to be like Liverpool and pay through the nose for a player without an option to buy or an outright transfer with a hefty buy-back. If Xabi doesn’t renew, I expect he’ll be back with Sahin next year.

Hope for the best, and all that.

That video is killing me. Must get more Pabst to drown my sorrows :,(

  8. wynmere August 30, 2012 at 11:03 pm #

I’m with you with the Modric thing. I know he’s not at fault but I can’t bear to look at pics of him in the kit and with the team. My heart has to grieve some more.

And yes, why effin QPR?!!!! I do hope some big club snatch our Pirate up come next transfer season. I’d be happy even if it’s ManUtd (w/c I dont quite like) or Chelsea (at least he’d be with Juanin).

Also, there was supposedly a tweet from Arbeleo wishing Granero luck and saying it was less of what he deserved. Saw a screencap of it and looked legit, but when I went to Alvaro’s timeline, it wasn’t there. The photo is on his webstagram/instagram though.

Oh well, I mourn with you Lozil and the rest of the watishistas. I’m gonna track esteban on tumblr and cry some more. 😦

    • wynmere August 30, 2012 at 11:10 pm #

Ok I just the Arbeloa tweet. Must have had too much tears in my eyes last night that I missed it. Darn.

can i crash your emo party, lozil? 😦

i’m still not over this. i can’t believe we even won the supercopa, because the way i’m feeling right now, it’s as if we handed it to barca on a silver platter. and if that’s what it would have taken to keep el pirata with us, i would have been the first one bowing and scraping to xavi and handing it over on my knees (and that’s saying something, coming from me).

and then on top of that, to have to deal with the champions league deathgroup? ugh.

i don’t like this emo rollercoaster! yesterday at this time, i was elated. today, i’m as far from that as iker is from decent fashion sense. 😉

on the shallow side, arbeloa looks utterly beautiful in that photo. daaaamn.

Because I’m a raging geek, this post made me think of a snippet from Tennyson: “Though much is taken, much abides.” This is where it comes from…

“Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
    Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”

    • shiggers August 31, 2012 at 10:47 am #

Well done on your raging geekdom!

      • Katie Ann August 31, 2012 at 3:07 pm #
