Champions League Draw/UEFA Player Of The Year

30 Aug

What a shite day this has been. Check out who we drew – no biggie,  just the champions of England, Germany & the Netherlands. That’ll be…interesting. (Click on the picture for a larger view)

The UEFA Player of the Year award was presented. The nominees were Cristiano, Messi & Iniesta. And the winner is…

I KNOW, RIGHT?! You could have knocked me over with a feather. I mean, he definitely deserves recognition. Hell of a player and I love him but seriously, what does Cristiano have to do to win this dang thing? I’m pleased for Andres though.

That’s it. This day has been a total waster of makeup. I’m going back to bed to cry now.

Oh my, group D is definitely the group of Death. I so wished for them to meet Anderlecht, then I could go watch! And Iniesta winning this … He’s one of the few players from Barcelona that I like, but damn, Cristiano shoud have won this without a doubt!

This year is gonna be tough for our boys that’s for sure!
i just couldn’t believe our luck and to top it off Barca, Man Utd etc all have easy ass groups..i think that pissed me off more..lols..Anyways when we become Champions of Europe and get La Decima, we’ll know we’ve beaten the Champions of Europe…ok rant complete.haha

Well said! When we win it nobody can say it wasn’t hard earned and well deserved.

our group is absolutely crazy! i think the city match will be very interesting, but we certainly don’t have it easy…
and iniesta?! i’m sorry, i actually quite like him too, but if it wasn’t going to be cris, how how they overlooked messi?!

Granero’s gone, Cristiano didn’t win, Kaka’s being ignored, Group of Death……..WAH!!!!!!!!!

I feel your pain, although I think most madridistas are feeling this way also

Don’t get me wrong I am happy Ineista won, but I think Cristiano deserved it more. That’s not from my Madridista heart but my football heart. Cristiano played his heart out and achieved so much, he scored so many amazing goals in all competitions. Anyways just my two cents.

Group of death makes it more exciting, feel the rush right from the beginning. Unlike other teams who got an easier group, they will probably under estimate the teams they are playing and hopefully slip up 😉

    Have a great day!

I was so happy when I woke up this morning, all filled with supercopa feelings. Then Granero (cried in public), then group of death (slammed desk in public), then Iniesta instead of Cristiano (snorted derisively in public).

I have nothing against Iniesta at all, but I really thought it was Cristiano’s turn. I just hate the feeling that no matter what Madrid do and no matter what Cris does, they are always unfavourably compared to Barcelona somehow. But, my frustrations aside, congrats to Iniesta, who is also deserving of the recognition.

Our CL group is going to be tough for sure, but I have every confidence in our boys to come out on top.

Well this is an amazing day.

Ok, that’s just ridiculous. How the hell do 4 league champions end up in 1 group? Seriously, UEFAlona, sorry I mean, lady luck must have something against us (or Man City, heh).

And yeah, like everyone else, I honestly am I happy for Iniesta. But last season was Cristiano’s. 😦

As long as Messi didn’t win, I’m happy

We’re definitely in the most difficult group, but we’re also the best team of this group!
Real has proven in the past that Ajax is very beatable and I think Dortmund is too (although I love them and want them to succeed). It’s gonna be an interesting season…

I say it’s about time Iniesta wins something like this. He was seriously jipped two years ago with the balón de oro. I may be a Madrid fan, but how can someone not love Iniesta and be happy for the guy? Besides… He’s Manchego 🙂

Just look how happy Ana was for her man and you’ll feel better. They are so sweet.

I so enjoyed seeing how happy she was for him! It was adorable and she’s fast becoming one of my faves. The girl’s got amazing style too!

I’m convinced this group we’ve drawn is karmic retribution for letting go of one of our most devoted canteranos.

But man this will be exciting!

    • Ally August 31, 2012 at 4:16 am #

Genius! I laughed so hard 😀

i am happy for iniesta — i really like him and he’s a phenomenal player — but jesus, poor ronaldo just can’t get no respect, can he?

as for the draw … of course we’re in THAT group. of course we are. this season is going to be challenging on all fronts (moreso than usual). doesn’t mean we can’t do it, but just once it’d be nice to not have it feel like rolling a boulder uphill.

  17. Anonymous August 30, 2012 at 11:31 pm #

This isn’t the Ballon D’Or is it?

    • black widow August 31, 2012 at 11:26 am #

      nope. that’s in january.

  18. jellyace August 30, 2012 at 11:51 pm #

Gritting my teeth and trying to get used to the feeling because this will be a difficult season for Real Madrid.

Iniesta’s award is 2 years late. Deserved. Bow.

I thought this would surely be Cristiano’s because of all the records he broke. so maybe he will get rewarded 2 years from now.
