Catching Up With RM Training, Sadgate Updates And More

5 Sep

Sorry I’ve taken so long to post today. I quite frankly needed a serious break from footy related nonsense last night and today has been fairly horrendous at work. Anyhow, two days of training to catch up on back in Madrid.

Tuesday saw Michael Essien featured in the training video and picturesfrom the fine folks at the mothership.

Off at Las Rozas, Alvaro Arbeloa was asked for comment on Sadgate and surprisingly, Real Madrid posted a bit about it on the website.

Arbeloa: “The most important thing for Cristiano Ronaldo is Real Madrid”

“He knows that he is at the best team and I hope he stays until he hangs up his boots. He is a absolute idol”, added the Real Madrid defender about his teammate

Álvaro Arbeloa spoke about the personal situation affecting his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo as he arrived at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas, where he is to meet up with the Spanish squad for the upcoming international commitments “The most important thing for Cristiano Ronaldo is Real Madrid. He knows that he is at the best team and I hope he stays until he hangs up his boots. That is what the fans want. He is an absolute idol and we will help him along the way. I hope the fans aren’t put out by what he said. It has been blown out of all proportion because of who he is”.

The real Madrid defender praised the professionalism of the Portuguese player as well as his determination to improve and move forward at Real Madrid: “Cristiano always wants to pick up awards. That ambition has made him the very best there is but the most important thing for him is Real Madrid. I don’t think that winning the Ballon d’Or is the most important thing in his life. We are a family and we have to help him along the way. He is the face of Real Madrid. I think he will be at Madrid for many years to come”.

Watishista Em sent in this excerpt from The Football Report on Sirus XM in which US Soccer Hall of Famer John Harkes discusses Sadgate and his thoughts as to why Cris didn’t win UEFA Player of the Year.

Today Mou was in Nyon attending the 14th edition of the Forum for Coaches of Elite UEFA Teams. They get together and talk about issues facing the football at this level. Undoubtedly, they also discuss how hard it is to find a good Lamborghini mechanic who makes house calls or how to get Gatorade out of cashmere and cackle over transfer market drama while sipping a crisp Chardonnay.

Also in attendance:  Massimiliano Allegri (AC Milan), Carlo Ancelotti (Paris Saint-Germain FC), Frank de Boer (AFC Ajax), John van den Brom (RSC Anderlecht), Unai Emery (FC Spartak Moskva), René Girard (Montpellier Hérault SC), Kasper Hjulmand (FC Nordsjælland), Leonardo Jardim (Olympiacos FC), Jorge Jesus (SL Benfica), Ivan Jovanović (APOEL FC), Jurgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund), Ronald Koeman (Feyenoord), Mircea Lucescu (FC Shakhtar Donetsk), Roberto Di Matteo (Chelsea FC), Vítor Pereira (FC Porto), Thomas Schaaf (SV Werder Bremen), Diego Simeone (Club Atlético de Madrid), Luciano Spalletti (FC Zenit St Petersburg), Fatih Terim (Galatasaray AS), Tito Vilanova (FC Barcelona) and Arsène Wenger (Arsenal FC).

The Elite Club Coaches Bitchfest 2012 continues tomorrow. I hope they get around to stuff like homophobia, racism in the midst of discussing things like goal line technology and financial fair play rules.

And just to keep everything in perspective, here’s Fabio Coentrao, that hardened criminal who had the temerity to shout at a ref, cruising around Madrid in his Ferrari.

Well, cheers for posting ’cause it makes my day to come home from work and read what’s on this site. Stuff like “how to get Gatorade out of cashmere” is always good for a laugh, and there’s sooo much training pretty to look at (all though they were doing plyo hurdles in that vid, *shudder*)! Hope work gets better soon. If it doesn’t, make ambiguous statements about your sadness; I hear that works for people 😉

Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the hotel bar at that conference. Do you think they have cliques? Do you think Mou and Robby do a little huddle in the corner and gossip about Roman? Do Allegri and Ancelotti compare lists of teammates Ibra’s accidentally injured? Does Arsene hide away in his room with a book, a la Granero, and refuse to be part of the gossiping? Sorry, I haven’t slept in 36 hours so I’m finding the oddest things funny right now.

I don’t know why, but “Fabio Coentrao, that hardened criminal” nearly made me spit out my water from laughing so hard.

Since we’re still talking about Sadgate… have you seen this article in Marca about Cris supposedly wanting to be one of the captains?

Of course it’s totally unsubstantiated. I think Cris knows that the captaincy issue is more than just about merit, etc., so I doubt this is something he would actually demand. I mean, who would he even displace? Marcelo or Pipita? Despite the hierarchy, isn’t he sometimes given the captain’s armband for certain games anyway?

I just really want this drama to end already. Isn’t everyone over-fatigued from all the speculating and theorizing and rumor-mongering yet? And it’s only Thursday!
