Ah, Clarice & Marcelo! Ain’t love grand? I love these two and looking at them being so happy together gives even my hard grumpy heart the warm fuzzies. On to the bits and bobs…
David Luiz shared another great shot from the balcony of his house. I have serious terrace envy every time he posts one of these shots. What a view!
Watishista P treated me to yet another wonderful picture of The Ox. Here he is looking adorable as usual. I just want to chuck the little woobins’ cheeks.
El Pirata wants to know if someone walks it like they talk it. I assure you, young scalliwag, this broad certainly does. Bring on whatever hipsterness you have in store for us, we’re ready.
Supermodel Nando was posing in the latest Chelsea wear. Looks like another “Many Moods of…” photo shoot, doesn’t it? (Photos from GFSports)
So a couple of serious things before I sign off for the evening. First up, you have a chance to help a fellow Madridista out – Rinad’s trying to win a scholarship and only has a day or so to accumulate the most votes. If you can spare a few seconds, please vote for her and help this deserving young lady fulfill her dreams. She’s a friend of watishista Hassan, who brought this to our attention.
And last, please take the time to read this amazing and heartbreaking article about former Montreal Impact player David Testo who came out last year. It brings home to true emotional toll that a life in the closet takes and the reality of how a decision to live his life freely changed everything in a very painful way for David. I went through so many emotions reading this; it made me cry like a baby and also want to punch a wall. It’s an absolutely outstanding piece and author Leander Schaerlaeckens did a phenomenal job. Read it, please. It brings David’s struggle alive and helps you to understand the grim reality of what these closeted players are facing.
And as I’ve said before we have to do our part, as fans, to be supportive of anti-homophobia efforts and to be advocates and examples. No one should have to live their life in fear.
Good night all.
xoxo,
Lozil
I LOVED Leander’s piece on David Testo. I feel that was a huge sports story that didn’t get the attention it deserved.
I was so emotional when I read about how he couldn’t even take his partner to a Montreal Impact dinner, or thank him when accepting an MVP award. It’s stuff like that that makes you realize how being forced into the closet affects absolutely EVERYTHING about your life. Every detail, everything.
And it was like a love-letter to Montreal too – which is always nice.
I voted for Rinad, all the very best to her!
Thanks so much! She’s currently leading by a very small margin. ::fingers crossed::
Thanks for posting the David Testo story. That was quite an emotional read.
Wasn’t it though? Amazing piece.
