Uh oh! Look who’s bromancing now! It’s Luzil!

Hectic day at work today so I didn’t have time to put everything in a post earlier, best catch up, eh? The boys look like elves in those caps (especially Luka) don’t they? And it also looks like the weather was as gray and crappy in Madrid as it was in New York today.

Bet they’re wondering how Albiol & Pipita are spending their recovery time. Seems like there’s a resurgence of Arbetti in the meantime. Not a bad thing necessarily!

Aitor Karanka did the press conference today and talked about the Mou to PSG rumors, his future at Real and the (dreaded) upcoming transfer market.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Karanka (4)FROM REALMADRID.COM

Karanka: “Valladolid is having a good year but we’re just concentrating on winning”

‘Mourinho shows his strength on and off the pitch and cannot be forever reacting to what is said elsewhere’, he states about the Portuguese coach

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Karanka (1)Aitor Karanka made a media appearance in the press room at the Real Madrid complex the day before ‘the whites’’ encounter with Valladolid in the new José Zorrilla stadium. Madrid’s assistant manager analysed the clash: ‘Valladolid are complicated opponents. They are enjoying a good season, but we’re just concentrating on winning. They are playing a sound game with a trainer who can transmit his idea of football. The only thing we have to think about is winning those three points.’

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Karanka (5)When asked about Mourinho’s future, Karanka was adamant: ‘Mourinho shows his strength on and off the pitch and cannot be forever reacting to what is said elsewhere. I’ve been here with him for two and a half years and if we listened to all the rumours, life just wouldn’t be worth living. The coach is as strong as you can get. The owner of PSG has stated that they have their coach and Mourinho is focused on his own day-to-day.’

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Karanka (6)On whether his own future at Real Madrid is linked to Mourinho’s, he commented: ‘I will talk about my own future whenever the coach decides on his own. My work is here with him and not in planning my future based on what you hear on the grapevine. The day that he declares something, I will consider my own plans.’ Asked about declarations published in the A Bola newspaper of Florentino Pérez confirming that the Portuguese coach will continue in the team, he said: ‘If the president has said it, then it is no longer a rumour and Mourinho has always maintained that his relationship with the president is good. So that confirms that it is all just rumours.’

Rueda_de_prensa_de_KarankaKaranka, confessing that ‘they are studying different ways of covering the left flank in the new José Zorilla stadium’, praised the professionalism of Cristiano Ronaldo: ‘Professionals like him play an important role on the pitch. If they score, great, and if they don’t, then they are team players. He is a real professional.’

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Karanka (2)Questioned about the potential rivals for the round of sixteen in the Champions League, Karanka said: ‘Whether we come first or second is not important. We are down to the last sixteen and any opponent we face from now on is going to be complicated.’ On the possibility that Real Madrid will sign on players or transfer in the winter market, the assistant manager for Madrid was clear: ‘The squad is as you see it now, but I couldn’t say for sure what is going to happen in the future. We want to be able to rely on this team until the final’.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Karanka (3)Karanka also mentioned Messi’s injury: ‘He can play the next match as it doesn’t seem to be as serious as we first thought.’ Lastly, asked about any match friction involving opponents he added: ‘These things happen in the dugout. Trainers have been sent off and we haven’t had any of that. The other day, in the derby against Atlético, we didn’t do anything and you can see that in the footage’.

The following players were called up for tomorrow’s match against Valladolid:

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Adan and Jesus.
Defenders: Varane, Pepe, Ramos, Carvalho, Arbeloa and Nacho.
Midfielders: Essien, Khedira, Kaka, Ozil, Alonso, Modric, and Di María Callejón.
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo , Benzema and Morata.

Albiol, Marcelo, Higuain, Coentrao are out with injuries. Animo boys!

The team arrived in Valladolid tonight and were greeted at their hotel (Vincci Frontaura) by two thousand fans! That’s amazing!

“Little girl, have you read Inverting the Pyramid? Who should we use on the left flank?”

I would give cash to know what was being said at this moment.

I would give good cash money to know what was being said at this moment.

Big news continues! You can now go into the first team dressing room during the Bernabeu stadium tour! This was previous off limits. This could be our best chance to collect DNA samples for the HB & HB Real Madrid Cloning Program! So the next watishista who takes the tour, it is your DUTY to look around for a left over toothbrush or something. We’ll take it to our super secret underground lair and proceed with our scientific experimentation. With our luck, it will be Kaka’s and Shigs will have a nervous breakdown when I bring his clone down the pub to watch the match. I can see it now:

Me: But he’s a clone!

Clone Kaka: Hi Shiggers, I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. It’s why I left my toothbrush behind. Just. For. You. ::Grins maniacally and brandishes axe::

Shiggers: I TOLD YOU SO! Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeee!  ::runs out of pub::

Me: Erm, my bad. ::sips Guinness as Clone Kaka chases Shigs down the street:: Back to the drawing board…

Here’s a little preview of what’s waiting for us in the dressing room.

The first team dressing room can now be visited as part of the Bernabéu Tour

The Bernabéu Tour has had the first team dressing room added to its route. Visitors can admire this emblematic corner of the stadium, which until now only Real Madrid players could access. The club goes one step further in bringing its brand, history, tradition and values to fans around the world, who can now admire one of the iconic parts in the legend of the Best Club of the 20th Century.

Vestuario (1)The dressing rooms cover 1,080 square metres, of which the first team dressing room occupies 280, divided into the following parts: recovery area, showers, jacuzzi, cold water bath, kit store room, changing rooms for coaching staff and customised individual lockers for each player.

VestuarioThe Bernabéu Tour continues with its commitment of improvement and renewal and, after inaugurating the interactive room with the Best Club in History exhibit and Alfredo Di Stéfano Tribute Area last September, the first team dressing room completes the unforgettable experience for any Real Madrid fan.

Vestuario (2)Currently, the Bernabéu Tour route begins with a panoramic view of the stadium from the 4th floor amphitheatre, then moves on to the interactive room with the Best Club in History exhibit, and then to the Alfredo Di Stéfano Tribute Area and European Cups room, then to the Directors’ Box, the first team and visitors dressing rooms, the pitch and dugout area, the press room and finally the Bernabéu Shop.

RamosOur favorite pony is the subject of a new book called “Sergio Ramos: Corazón, Carácter y Pasión” by Enrique Ortego.

The book will be presented to the media on Monday, December 10th at the Royal Box at the Bernabeu. Sese, the author, FloPeezy and president of Editorial Everest, José Antonio López will be in attendance.

Speaking of Sergio, I’ve been on one of my frequent 70s/80s funk and power ballad kicks lately. When watching The Gap Band’s You Dropped A Bomb On Me video, I found myself completely imagining Sese in that oufit. There’s bedazzling, a disturbing hat, patterned scarf, even a rudimentary Frankenvest. No doubt in my mind he’d rock that. In my dreams tonight, he probably will! On that note, I’m off to have an early dinner with Shiggers.

In the unlikely event that cloning the entire starting lineup from bits and pieces of them we may find lying about the locker room, may I suggest a Plan B: bug the hell out of that place!! Hidden cameras in overhead lights! Microphones beneath the benches! Smuggle the necessary tech in and discreetly pepper the place with spyware. Then we can all gather in the pub (Shiggers too) and watch them prepare for games. FOOLPROOF!!

Shigs and I approve of this plan!

    • Lizzie December 8, 2012 at 12:22 am #

This is a great plan B

Plan C must be: Hide in the closets (behind their photos) until the next match. Yup, we will prepare the bail money.

I suppose there won’t be the slightest chance of running into one of the boys in the locker room..Sergio coming out of the shower with a towel around him…

Wen I read u could vist the dressing room I thought u meant like wen they’re changing n stuff n than I read on ::sigh:: dayum would it hav been nice to see all the players gettin out of the shower with towels rapped around their waist or not its VERY optional, as the steam fills the room n water slids down their chest, if only. WHY DIDNT I KNOW ABOUT THIS NEW ADDITION TO THE TOUR EARLIER? I was in Spain this past week and I would have definitely definitely made time to go to Madrid again if I had known about this development.

And I am going to need the Sergio book. Christmas pressie to myself!

    • black widow December 8, 2012 at 1:18 pm #

      you have my full commiserations!!!

i was in madrid in october and did the entire bernabeu tour ( — why couldn’t they have made this decision a couple of months ago!?!?! BAH.

note to future tour participants: if you are going to go, make sure you go on a day that is NOT match day. the dressing rooms are off limits to the tour on match days. (so the trick is to go on the tour towards the end of the previous day and hide in your favourite player’s locker overnight.)

      • CinematiqueChic December 8, 2012 at 2:53 pm #

Yeah I was just in Madrid over the summer so on this trip to Spain I figured I could go to other cities. I now see the error of my ways. My one disappointment with the tour was that you could only go into the away locker room. Glad they fixed it just in time for me to move back to the States.

        Haha – solid gold idea!
