Training, Foxeloa, Xabi, Iker’s Biological Clock Part II And More

4 Jan

Pre-Sociedad training continued today. Real Madrid C’s Llorente and Álvaro López joined the big boys. Also back to regular training: Higuain and Albiol! Whooooo! Keeping fingers and toes crossed that they are ready, if not this weekend, then very soon. (Pictures via RealMadrid.com and GFSports)

Now we just have to get Marcelo back to good health. BTW, the media is reporting that Mou asked for Coentrao to be given the maximum fine (30,000) for being late to training the other day. Ouch.

Arbeloa: “I just want to win all of our matches from now until the end of the season”
by Edu Bueno

“Real Sociedad are in their best form and it is going to be a difficult match, but we will go into it with desire and belief”, the Madrid defender told a press conferenc

After Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos had passed through the press room of the Real Madrid Football City, it was Álvaro Arbeloa’s turn. The Madrid defender spoke about the team’s upcoming match against Real Sociedad and the team’s position going into the second half of the season. “Real Sociedad are in their best form and it is going to be a difficult match, but we will go into it with desire and belief. I just want to win all of our matches from now until the end of the season”. The Spain international also wanted to put an end to the goalkeeping question: “The fans will support Real Madrid because they are fans of Real Madrid and not just of Casillas. It is important that they support the players, but also that they support the team. Whoever plays will have the support of his team mates”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Arbeloa (5)Álvaro Arbeloa started by discussing the match against Real Sociedad: “It is the first match after Christmas, which is always difficult. It was last year against Malaga in the Copa del Rey where we had to come from behind. This year Real Sociedad is playing good football and winning matches. We have to go into it with desire and belief. We hope that 2013 will be special for Madrid’s supporters and we have to start well”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_ArbeloaWhen asked if they were prioritising the Copa del Rey over la Liga, he said that all the competitions are equally important: “If this team wants to win trophies, it is impossible to do that without competing and giving everything in la Liga, and so it is difficult to give everything in the Copa. You cannot pick one day to play well and relax on other days”. With regard to the Champions League and their priorities he explained that “I would just aim to win all the matches. It could be that the Champions League is an easier objective than la Liga, but we are not a team that goes onto the pitch without giving our all every weekend and then does in the Champions League. We have to face all the challenges in our path and to do that you have to win in all the competitions”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Arbeloa (1)Arbeloa also analysed the first part of the season, identifying the areas that they have to improve on in the New Year: “We have not been as accurate in attack as last year, and in defence we conceded a lot to our opponents. Barcelona has won every match but one and that also has an effect. Where you notice it most is in away matches, but we have to improve a little bit in every aspect. We are the team with most shots for and fewest shots against. These details suggest that the team is not doing too badly, but there are things that make you drop points. The key thing is to reach your standard. We are lucky to have a coach who works very well on the tactical aspects and we have had a week to get ready for the match”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Arbeloa (4)The Spain international is expecting the Bernabéu to back the team against Real Sociedad: “The fans will support Real Madrid because they are fans of Real Madrid and not just of Casillas. It is important that they support the players, but also that they support the team which is even more important”. Regarding the goalkeeping question Arbeloa sent a clear very message; the team is more important than the players: “Adán is also a very good goalkeeper and we have the same respect for him as we do for Iker. I also want to congratulate Iker for being named best goalkeeper of the year. Whoever plays on Sunday will have the support of his team mates. This is a great opportunity for Adán and it means that he is working very well. He has our full confidence”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Arbeloa (3)And he settled the subject, saying that it is not important enough to be discussed in the changing room: “For the Madrid fans the important thing is not who plays, but that the team wins. It is all connected. The coach and Iker both want the same thing, which is to win trophies and this should also be the case with the fans. We all go through difficult spells but I am sure Iker will bring us many more trophies. I just want to win all of our matches from now until the end of the season. Iker himself is the first to take it in his stride, proving what a good team mate and professional he is. He has trained harder than ever. We have all spent time on the bench; it is quite normal. People are making too big a deal of it. It is just another tactical decision and we know he will carry on being important for the team”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Arbeloa (6)The Real Madrid defender has a blind faith in his team and sent a message of unity in order to forgett the last part of last year and concentrate on the present: “It never rain but it pours. When you are on a bad run things do go wrong for you. We all want to end this run and start a winning streak. We all have to give 100% and be at last year’s level and play at our best to give everything”.

Rueda_de_prensa_de_Arbeloa (2)Finally, Arbeloa said that injuries in defence should not affect the team, as there are enough players to replace the injured ones: “Nacho, Essien and I can play, and we always give our best”. And he finished off by speaking about the Madrid reserve players who are being successful overseas: “Dani Carvajal is an excellent player who is demonstrating everything he learnt here in the Bundesliga. His progress is spectacular. There are a lot of reserve players who have moved on to develop and then returned, and it is not a bad path to follow. It would be great for everyone connected to the club if he played for Real Madrid one day”.

Xabi Alonso was interviewed by BWIN and they had a video in English on their website. Huzzah!

Our capi once again has been named the best goalkeeper in the world. SO THERE! SUCK IT, IKER HATERS!

Casillas world’s best goalkeeper for fifth year running according to the IFFHS

The International Federation of Football history and Statistics have chosen him as best goalkeeper in the world, ahead of Gianluigi Buffon and Petr Cech

Iker Casillas has added another award in his exceptional career, starting 2013 with the same award he has won in the last four years. The International Federation of Football history and Statistics IFFHS has once again picked him as the world’s best goalkeeper after a vote by journalists from all over the world. Casillas saw off goalkeepers of the standard of Buffon and Cech After winning la Liga and the Spanish Supercup with Real Madrid and the European Championship with Spain.

Madrid’s captain has won this award the most often, ahead of Walter Zenga (Inter Milan) who was named best goalkeeper in the world in 1989, 1990 and 1991. This year, Casillas scored 224 points, while Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) scored 128. Chelsea’s Czech goalkeeper, Petr Cech, was third on 92; the German Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich was fourth on 85; the English goalkeeper Joe Hart, of Manchester City, was fifth on 26; and Barcelona’s Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdés was sixth with 15 points.

El Pirata was quick to congratulate his friend and fellow canterano posting this picture and message.

ikerpirataab19f028565611e29cae22000a9f1378_7Iker himself posted more pictures of his trip to the children’s hospital in Mostoles on Facebook.

524703_528291163867780_1222256172_n163348_528291757201054_917018071_n307101_528288567201373_717120597_n320954_528289917201238_620523780_nMGEF had this great picture of Iker and his papi. I love bebe Iker. You can see that he must have inherited that cardigan thing from his dad. At least Mr. Casillas chose a daring color.

tumblr_mg2t4zyqWV1qbiysso1_500MGEF also had these two gifs of Iker holding a baby at the hospital. You can just hear his biological clock going “CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!” like Maisougio’s infamous road trip cowbell. Iker, we have a list of lovely ladies here who are willing to be surrogates if Sara isn’t ready yet.  We’re not turning into ‘HB&HB Baby Mamas R Us’ but since you are our captain, we feel that it is our duty. If you’re happy, that will trickle down to the whole squad and maybe we’ll get La Decima after all. We’re just putting Real Madrid first (by putting out) like the good Madridistas we are. Call us.

It’s kinda hard to function at all after seeing Iker with a happy baby, isn’t it? But try we must!

Enjoy Dirty Tackle’s version of the Mario Balotelli/Roberto Mancini training throwdown.

Not enough? How about a Remy Cabella bobblehead? I think I want one of these. Well, both of them to be completely honest. #TeamMeow

1165_383722461720915_1775481472_nStill not enough? Greedy buggers! Okay, how about Sami Khedira and Lena Gercke taking in The Lion King? As you do.

scruffy Arbeloa makes me wonder if his deal with Gilette is over 😀 But probably he only has to shave for official games, like Xabi had to in that dreadful season of his gilette deal.

I love this post. And I love that you’ve identified Iker’s Cardigan gene!!

      I feel like a scientist! 🙂

bahaha! now, i wonder if he gets his murse gene from his mum or his papi? 😉

can i say how much i LOVE that bebe iker was a ginge?! eeeeee! he and i would have little ginge-haired children (never mind that my hair colour is out of a bottle) …

… and i was so distracted by his grin in the gifs with the baby that i didn’t even notice the wee one was wearing a real madrid jersey! so sweet!

arbeloa has always been my second-favourite after iker because he’s such a total dork, and hilarious, and i love his personality, but damn, he’s so beautiful, too. that beard really, really suits him (and i’m not one for beards!).

am tempted to suggest an edit to “SUCK IT, MOU” as opposed to the iker haters, but i think the point has been made. i do not expect to see him on the bench this weekend (or ever again).

above all else, i’m just delighted to see the injured list get smaller and smaller. i honestly believe once marcelo is back, everything will start to turn around (but hopefully before, too).

i don’t know what brought on sexbeard arbeloa, but i hope he keeps this look foreverrrrrr. i can’t get enough.

the pic of el pirata and iker makes me sad. i love that he keeps in touch with everyone, but it’s sad that he’s away on a team that will probably be relegated.

every time iker posts a picture of himself as a little one, or better, sara as a little one, i yell, to myself,”SOMEONE GET THIS MAN A BABY.” i would volunteer as part of the watishista brigade to get him a kid. i’m selfless like that.

awwwwww, calleti and marta. they are so sweet.

Pretty certain that is only 1 weeks wages though!

      • Allison January 4, 2013 at 7:54 pm #

In my next life, I’m going to be a professional footy player. 🙂

‘SUCK IT IKER HATERS!!!’ love it Loz! Nice lengthy post there grrl.
being not a beard person, I was struck by how nice Arbeloa looks with a beard. quite tasty
And I do like me a happy baby. put an Iker next to it and I’m on a cloud.

I’m usually not a fan of beards but Arbeloa and that beard, rawr

  8. CinematiqueChic January 5, 2013 at 9:18 am #

Arbeloa should always have stubble. Always. I don’t know what it is about the hot men of Madrid, but they keep finding ways to make themselves even hotter – Sergio’s haircut, Marcelo’s glasses, now Alvaro’s beard. I want to go to there!

  9. mygypsyspirit January 5, 2013 at 11:29 am #

It’s funny… I want Xabi to shave (or at least trim) but lordy I love Arbeloa with the sex beard!
