A Win’s a Win

Hey, a little drama never hurt nobody….said no one ever. We didn’t ease into the new year like I hoped we would, but you know what, we did win and with four goals scored too! Two things we can be happy about with this match are, we do not lack the ability to score, Benz made sure of that when he scored within two minutes, AND PIPA IS BACK!!! That booty is back where it belongs, on the pitch, in some sheerish white shorts, running around, to the beat of the sexy music playing in my head. Yes, when Pipa runs things get very Baywatch-y for me! On the other hand, something we can be unhappy about (aside from the shameful whistling & drama) is Benz’s hair sitch. I take back all that I said about him growing his hair out, it needs to stop because I’m afraid he’s going to do this. Please. God. No.

Oh look! What was probably the only time Mou smiled that day….and it probably had something to do with Karankinky bending over.

3

The match kicked off & our little croissant thought it was his duty, nay a pleasure to open up the scoring within TWO minutes of play. GO BENZ! And GO SAMI for assisting that shizz, he knows how to set a man up nicely, doesn’t he? It was all good things from our German Pony, during the match.

Ya….I can’t tell what Sami’s reaction is to Benz’s look of ‘I. Will. Rock. Your. World.’ but I know I would be frightened. Easy white chocolate, you don’t get bromantic by scaring the boys off. Callejon looks to be saying, “Better you than me!”

Ay Adan, poor Adan. We had gotten off to such a good start, scoring early, Adan with a rare start, and then it all ended. In the fifth minute, Carlos Vela was presented with a goal scoring chance & Adan met his challenge and went all “Sweep the leg” on him, which resulted in a straight red card for him and a penalty for Real Sociedad. The straight red seemed a tad harsh to me, which made me believe that the ref has a love for Iker, so immense, that he couldn’t bear to see him on the bench, thus creating a situation where Iker would be forced to get into the game. All kidding aside, the whistles for Adan as he was brought off were absolute bullshit. He’s a player of our team & deserves respect, he wasn’t the one who benched Iker and shouldn’t we be happy for him when he gets some playing time, since it is so rare? Come on now, Iker has only been benched twice, even though this match shouldn’t be counted since he played the majority of it. Besides, with our chances of winning La Liga being close to none, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more of Adan, every weekend. And I’m not bashing his skill, there’s just less pressure now. So yes, I was sad to see his time on the pitch cut early, and also for Callejon, who had to come off in order for Iker to make his way to the goal.

*There may be something there that wasn’t there before.* “….Oh it’s Iker.”

“All this drama and now there’s a Xabi on the scoreboard & it’s not me?? Puta madre.”

Yep, Xabi Prieto did it…went and scored the penalty for his side & we were equalized for the first time that night. Equalizing is so overrated when it’s not our team doing the equalizing.

In the 33rd minute, Sami went for goal but Bravo saved the shot with his chest….getting creative, I like it, but not too much. The opportunity wasn’t lost though, because Carvalho came back with a shot towards goal, which landed perfectly at Sami’s feet. Needless to say, Sami backheeled the shit out of that thang!

And again with the Xabi impostor! Once again, Xabi Prieto equalized for his side. I don’t like anyone who tries to steal our German Pony’s thunder, nuh uh.

Just before halftime, Benz’s opportunity to break the tie is lost, when his shot hits the post. And so we went to halftime with the score of 2-2.

And then there was the issue of the armband. Cris was on Captain duty at the start of the match but when Iker got in the game, of course, roles changed. People tried to make a problem out of nothing, surprise surprise!. Cris did offer the armband to Iker, actually he ended up having to be pushed away, so he would keep it. I don’t see where there’s a problem with what went down. I’m sure Iker just wanted Cris to keep the honor of wearing the armband, seeing as he wasn’t originally set to play. I guess I’m just happy that Cris is respectful enough to have offered up the armband & to have been so persistent about it that he had to be pushed away. We have good boys.

So, our golden captain made his way & found net in the 68th minute, with help from Benz. Though his real stunner would be scored two minutes later.

In the 70th minute, Xabi got a yellow for protesting the ref’s decision not to card Gonzalez for his late tackle on Cristiano, but Madrid was awarded the free kick. And what a treat it is for us to have the Free Kick King on our side! POW!

“See? We frands.”

In the 74th minute, the 2nd change came for RM, which meant the RETURN OF PIPA…and his booty, it almost counted as two subs. Seriously.

Thankfully we heard the last of the Xabi impostor in the 76th minute, he scored his hat trick but at least he was done for the night! Three minutes later, Sociedad’s Dani Estrada, received his second yellow and was sent off and his side finished the match without their one man advantage.

And that was that, our four goals to their three, meant we got the three points, we won, and it was time for Iker to get nekkid…sorta.

Mourinho

From Realmadrid.com

Mou:

Real Madrid had to play a man down from the fifth minute following Adan’s sending-off. Mourinho said the following about the passage of play:I have not seen it on TV. I think that Varane left Adan in a complicated situation with his feet and he made a pass that he did not have to do. So I think that Adan had to decide to get the ball out of the danger zone and made a bad pass to Carvalho. From there we lost the ball then came the penalty. I think that it should have been a penalty, but we had one or two players between Adan and the goal line. It similar to things that have happened this season. When we are penalised by decisions, we are penalised by the bad ones and the dubious ones. With this one, I could be wrong, and I give the benefit of the doubt to the referee, but my feeling is that in another ground, with another team it would be a yellow card.”

Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the key players after having scored the final two goals for his team.He worked well, as did everyone. He played well and deserved to win, like everyone else. He has made an extra effort, like everyone else. He celebrated the goal with his teammates and came over to the bench which is normal”, said Mourinho when asked about the Portuguese’s match.

In addition, he also praised the job done by Carvalho: “He had a great match, I don’t like to pick out individuals. Everyone did a great job, but Ricardo was especially good because his situation is special. We have decided that it is the last year of his contract and that it won’t be renewed. We are banking on Pepe and Ramos as our centre backs and then Albiol as a Spanish player and Varane as a youngster. But he stayed and we knew that when he was needed that he would respond. He already played well in the cup and in the Champions League and today and had a great match. His experience was very important in a match in which we had players missing”.

Mourinho again reiterated the importance of each match that his team plays: “Our chances of winning the championship are minimal, but as a coach I keep going to the end and every match is the same”. He spoke about the Copa del Rey match: “The cup match is not more important than the league because of the distance we are away from first place. The Celta play well, are confident, are winning 2-1, but my experience in these two and a half years is that the fans like the cup, the excitement of winning and going through and I have a feeling that if we play with the same effort as today in two days, the team and the fans will be ready and we can go through.”

When asked about the crowds’ reaction when hearing his name over the PA and if Casillas being a substitute was the cause of the whistles, he was clear:It was to because Casillas was sat out and could also be due to the fact that we are not close to our objectives in the championship. Some people applaud us regardless of performance, but I think I should be applauded or whistled depending on the performance. This season in the championship, in relation to last year, we are having a bad time of it and it seems normal to me to whistle and this is how I like to live. I do not like to always be in a comfortable situation and be a hero forever. If I was whistled for the decision to leave out Iker, fine. And if I was whistled for bad performances in the league then I accept it. Perfect, that they whistle when they hear my name and that they help the team during the match as they have done, perfect.”

The Portuguese coach talked about Adan: “I said to him before the match, and the Malaga match too that the whistles that he hears are for me, not for him. The fans have no problem with Adan, or the press either. They have a problem with me and my decision. My personal opinion is that Adan deserves much more respect. He has been at Real Madrid for 16 years, he trained at Real Madrid, he comes from a home of Real Madrid fans, born in Madrid. Why doesn’t he have a right to be happy? You have transformed a problem and an attack on Mourinho into a lack of disrespect towards Adan.” I couldn’t have said it better.

pipa

pipa2

Pipa:

(He is happy man, happy man.) “I am happy because we won a tough match and because I am back playing. I’ve been waiting a long time and it been a lot of days of hard work, but I have come back in good shape and I felt good. I went on with one less player on the field and there was a higher demand on me”.

The Argentine striker also analysed the win against team from San Sebastian: “It was a weird match, back and forth, but blow by blow we managed to win the match. We played better with ten than with eleven, the team made a huge effort and we went ahead in the match.”

Finally, and on the way forward in 2013, he said: “We have to play our best for the remainder of the season and play for all of the titles to the end. We must continue along this line and keep winning matches to regain confidence for of the rest of the season. We have done well and we need keep going like this.”

adan

adan2

Adan:

“It was an unfortunate bit of play where the referee blew for a penalty and the sending-off seems unfair to me. These things happen and you have to accept it and push forward. This can happen, you can come away having played a perfect match and having made big saves or you can come away having been sent off. The important thing is what has led me to being in goal for Real Madrid has been my hard work.”

The Real Madrid player said the following about the 4-3 win at the Bernabeu: “The match started well, the team went out wanting to win at home and make the fans happy again and we went ahead quickly. After that everything got more complicated after an unfortunate incident, but the extra effort appreciated that the team made when playing with ten. The team was committed and has pushed forward. I am sorry for Callejon, who was been sacrificed and is worse off in it all.”

He also spoke about Wednesday’s cup match against Celta de Vigo: “We have to turnaround the scoreline but we are at home with our fans, who will help us and I am sure that we will come out on top in the tie. After the difficult situation that we are in having not managed to get many wins, every match is important. This win is good for our confidence. If we want to fight for the other two competitions we need to get on a winning streak and go into the other competitions strongly.”

Carvalho

Carvalho:

“We knew this match was important and that we could not draw and we went out to win. We started well, then things got tougher for us, but because we were together the match got easier. We could not give up, we had to come from behind and in the end we won.”

The Portuguese had more to say about the first match of the year:Cristiano played very well and most importantly we were together.” The match became more complicated for Mourinho’s team following Adan’s sending-off in the 5th minute. Carvalho spoke about that passage of play: “It was unfair but we have to do our job and give our all and the best of ourselves for this team.”

With no time to rest, on Wednesday Mourinho’s team will play the Copa del Rey round of 16 second leg: “We have a great squad and every one of us knows how to play. Now there are three days to recover and prepare for the match against Celta.”

“All this drama and now there’s a Xabi on the scoreboard & it’s not me?? Puta madre.”

That is the funniest picture and caption we have had in a while! All I can say is i’m glad I didn’t open my drink before I saw that!

So agree! I was lucky enough to avoid another spraying accident!

This match was such a nail-biter. I was so glad when it was over.

BTW, does anyone notice that Xabi (Real Madrid) has a long neck?

  2. Anna January 9, 2013 at 4:30 pm #

    the Xabi captions are gold!
good sum up of the match though, controversy aside, there were actually some positives-
we won and got the three points, plus PIPA! Just have to wait for Marcelo (I may go a bit crazy when I see him start or get subbed in when he’s fit)
I also really hope this won’t affect Adan’s confidence. The red card was quite harsh seeing as he wasn’t the last man, but hopefully he’ll learn from it. At the end of the day, it didn’t cost us the match being a man down most of the game, and plenty of players have been sent off for Madrid before, Adan isn’t the first and he won’t be the last.

  3. CinematiqueChic January 9, 2013 at 6:23 pm #

This match. This match. I don’t need that much excitement in my life, really.

I’m so happy we won and got the year off to a good start. The team was amazing, especially considering they were down a man for basically the entire team.

I feel bad 4 adan , we should start supporting him more , wat Mou said was so true . I love Iker , but adan deserves 2 play 2 !!!! That said . Madrid are coming back , I’m so glad 4-0 against celta , what what !!!!!!!

  5. mygypsyspirit January 10, 2013 at 9:50 am #

I hate getting the points the way we did, but I’ll take it.

I think we’re a bit spoiled in La Liga. I love my team, so please no one jump on me for this, but it’s always Real Madrid & Barcelona dominating everything in La Liga. It’s not like Premiere League where this kind of game is actually fairly common…. I both love and hate exciting matches like this
