A Fivesome of Goal Scorers

19 Mar

Gonzalo Higuain

I’m continuously let down by these men…..all those goal celebrations, week after week, season after season, and how they celebrate is by going for each others’ shoulders. Why not set your sights a bit lower, gentlemen? I mean, it’s Pipita you’re standing next to! While their goal celebrations may disappoint, their goal scoring abilities, Saturday night, did not! 1-2-3-4-5! That’s fiyah!

I have no idea what Xabi is mesmerized by…but he goes for it again & again & again, courtesy of gif fabulosity, while Adan whispers a muffled ‘Vamos Joderrrrrr.’

Mallorca bust us with an early shocker, not the shocker that Ozi’s fave hand gesture suggests, but with an early ass goal, only 6 minutes into the match. The visitors were quick about getting their first goal & our boys, too, were quick to even the score. Pipita answered back with his first goal, nine minutes later, with help from Modric & Pepe.

Oh yes, our resident beefy booty was very proud of himself, but Mallorca was none too pleased about having their lead taken away from them, so they returned with a second goal, damn them. Their second goal was scored by Alfaro, with a header in the 21st minute. With Mallorca in the lead, once again, it was our turn to be none too pleased with ourselves. We struggled with possession and hardly made any attempts to challenge Aouate in goal. The frustration certainly was setting in, especially for Cristiano, which the cameras loved capturing. We went into halftime with Mallorca in the lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo

If this is what his frustration looks like, please do so more often, sir.

Papa Mou decided that the 2nd half would start with some changes, so he had Ozil come on for Arbeloa and Benz for Morata. I know Mou’s got nothing on his mind but the match during the 90 minutes of play, but with a double change up like this….it makes me think that the sub selection was more than just a technical decision. You can’t introduce two fine choices of yum & not have something else going through your mind! 😉

You gotta love Pipita’s booty bomb. I appreciate your cheekiness, sir…..literally!

For the Ozilistas….including Benz. Ozi’s smile makes him Ba-doing doing doing!

“Benz, it’s this big & I see it. Focus.”

Two minutes into the 2nd half and Bigas had the opportunity to score another heart stopper & possibly flush the match entirely down the shitter, but thankfully there was no goal scored….it was time for our boys to have a turn at that!

In the 52nd minute, Cristiano shook off the frustration & made something happen. A corner kick from Ozi and a fabulous ‘Watch my hairstyle stay completely intact’ header from Cristiano, brought the scoreline back to life. Both sides had two goals a piece.

Oh & the party just kept going after that! Two minutes later, Lady Edith scored a smasher to give us the lead for the first time all evening.

And to top off a glorious five minutes, Pipita finished off with a second big BOOTAY goal. Two goals for chunky butt & two assists for Ozi…butt.

“Yeah….that was nice.”

“Is it hot in here?”

In the 62nd minute, the final sub was made, Xabi came in for Kaka.

The remainder of the second half, both sides eagerly pushed for more goals. Our boys were looking for their fifth, Pipita almost got his hat trick, and Mallorca was just trying to get back above water. Both sides were close to upping the score by a couple of goals, but it wasn’t until the 92nd minute, that the match was finished off with some French dessert.

Serioulsy, Benz needs to look happier….if not about his goal, then about the goal celebration with all the hot mens!

Pipita didn’t get his hat trick but he had a hand in finishing off the match by assisting Benz’s goal. 1-2-3-4-5 POW! That’s how you play your last La Liga match before International Break!

karanka

From Realmadrid.com

Karanka:

Aitor Karanka appeared in the press room after the 5-2 win over Mallorca. The Basque coach summed up the match in the following manner: “In the first half we made lots of mistakes, not just the goals but also in passes and a lack of concentration on the whole. We spoke during the break and changed the team’s tactics. Pepe went back to his normal position, we put Sergio on the wing to attack deeper and three midfielders like Modric, Özil and Kaká to maintain possession.” Furthermore, he praised Higuaín, the scorer of two goals on the night: “Higuaín’s goals are important for him to gain confidence.”

After going in at half time a goal down, the Whites improved notably after the break to come from behind. Two of the five goals were scored by Higuaín, about whom Karanka spoke in front of the media: “The other day in Vigo we said it. He was off target in front of goal and today he has scored. I say the same as then. We know what Pipa is like. We don’t need to worry about the chances that are missed, the important thing is to create them in the first place. Today he has scored and that is important for him. The best thing is that he gets the confidence in front of goal that strikers need.”

The Whites conceded the second goal from a set play. “They are moves that we are conceding from since the start of the season, errors from set plays because of lapses in concentration. We are trying to improve. We do what we can. Luckily those errors haven’t been important in terms of the final outcome, although they have been in the match and we need to find out why it is happening”, said the assistant coach, who also explained Arbeloa’s situation: “It was a tactical change, nothing more, to put Sergio (Ramos) on the wing.”

Karanka was also questioned about the rotations in the team and the changes that are being made in the second half in recent matches, and he answered as follows: “That’s why we have the squad that we have, to start with the starting XI that is going to win the match, and if it doesn’t happen, the important thing is the people that come on in the second half to change the dynamic manage to do so, as we have seen in these matches.”

Regarding a possible lack of concentration of the players at the start of the match, he was clear: “The manager said it a while ago. It’s us who will be able to correct it, but it is obvious that with professional players and we all see the level that they can play at, they don’t need to be at that level all the time… We are the ones that take responsibility for the mistakes.”

The Real Madrid assistant coach does not believe that saying that winning the title is hard affects the players’ performances: “The message that we give is the same as everyone, that we have to fight for second position, we can’t come below second. The message is the same, that above second is complicated and below, we don’t want to make things difficult for ourselves and we have to ensure second place.”

Finally, he assessed the clash against Galatasaray in the Champions League quarter-final: “If we think it will be easy we are mistaken. They have players with lots of experience, some have played here and we know how important they are to Galatasaray. We are treating this knockout round the same as with Manchester, thinking it will be difficult.”

sergio

Sergio:

Sergio Ramos gave an exclusive interview to Realmadrid.com and Realmadrid TV about the win against Mallorca. The Whites’ defender, who was again the stand-in captain for Casillas, praised the unwavering support from the Santiago Bernabéu crowd and the reaction of the Real Madrid squad to pick up another three league points and continue their unbeaten run at home: “It was quite a boring game, especially in the first half, when we needed more concentration and a better approach. In the second half, we had more rhythm, intensity and were able to create chances and fight back. The good thing about playing at home is that the crowd makes you feel that sooner or later you can win the game. We feel it on the pitch.”

The Spanish international also spoke about the fantastic first quarter of an hour in the second half which was key for their 7th straight win: “It’s typical at Real Madrid that we often seem to be going through a revolution. There were changes at the start of the second half and Özil and Benzema made a difference because they gave the team even more quality and rhythm. The important thing is that we fought back and the team managed to pick up the points. We must keep our run going.”

When asked about the goal conceded from a dead ball, Sergio Ramos was critical of his own performance as captain: “We defended set pieces poorly and we have to concentrate and improve because we still have a lot of the season left to play. I hope that we concede fewer goals in the next few games and we are more comfortable.”

Lastly, and in relation to the international commitments by which a large portion of the squad is concerned, he said: “We now have an international break and we hope that everyone returns in ten days time fighting fit and without any injuries or knocks. Let’s hope there are no shocks.”

modric

Modric:

Real Madrid came back from behind in the Santiago Bernabéu to defeat Mallorca with a comfortable 5-2 win. Modric, who scored a goal, was pleased with both his and his squad’s performance: “It was a very nice goal but I’m happier about the great second half the team had. We played very well. We weren’t 100% focused on the match in the first half and we conceded two easy goals. But we showed what we’re capable of in the second half and we managed to win.”

The Croatian midfielder, one of Mourinho’s starting eleven, had a great match: “I feel good. But I don’t like to talk about my game. I’m happy about what I’ve done and about the goal, and I want to keep it up. I feel more comfortable. The match against Manchester helped me loads and gave me more confidence than I had in the beginning. I had confidence before but not in the way that I wanted. This is football and in a match everything can change and turn out well.”

To conclude, Modric commented on the upcoming clash against Galatasaray in the Champions League quarterfinals: “We’re in top form but we have to focus on the two matches and give it our all, like we did against Barcelona and Manchester. If we concentrate fully on the two matches we can make it to the semifinals. It’s not going to be easy. It’s a great team. Especially now, with Drogba and Sneijder, they’re more dangerous. We want to be in the semifinals.”

pepe

Pepe:

The Portuguese completed the 90 minutes in the comeback against Mallorca and highlighted the team’s work in the second half: “We didn’t start the game well, they reached goal twice and scored twice. We have to asses the work of the team and we appreciate that we have won. In the second half we tackled better, we created chances and we were more accurate. We fought well and were quite comfortable. When we work as a team it is easier and that that’s what we’ll try to do from now on.”

Pepe spoke about his role in the midfield: The coach put me in midfield and I’m here to help the team. Mourinho had an idea but the most important thing is that the player does his job well. Putting on this shirt fills me with pride. We are all available for the coach and when we play we do so are best as we possibly can.”

He also answered questions about the goals from set plays: “We are trying to improve in that regard. We suffer from set plays and we need to be more focused. The most important thing is that we have reacted and won the game. In the talk at the hotel Mourinho told us about how Mallorca played, their tactics and that it was going to be hard from set plays.” Finally, about the international break, he said: “I hope no one gets injured and we come back in perfect condition so that we can be selected by the coach.”

pipita

Pipita:

Gonzalo Higuaín was a key part of the Whites’ attack Mallorca and scored twice. The Argentine summed up how Real Madrid played:
“Mallorca came here playing well. They went ahead twice, but the team showed the fighting spirit and style it has. In La Liga we are going to try and keep fighting to the very end.” Regarding the competition up front with Benzema, he stated: “It’s for the good of the team. I am very happy because I scored, made an assist and Madrid won.”
