Wednesday Training, Alvaro With The Kids, Sese In Sevilla, International Champions Cup Update & More

17 Apr

Entrenamiento_Real_Madrid (8)Wow, this day has really gotten away from me. Here’s a quick catch up post now as I’m off to a Red Bulls match tonight.

The team returned to training today including Kaka and Mesut. Joining them were Castilla’s Alex and Casemiro.

Here’s some awesome video of Alvaro with the kids yesterday along with more footage from madridismoorg . (Additional photos via GFSports). He’s so great with the kids! I love the little boy who rocks a big ol’ thumbs up when he scores. Adorbs.

Sese spent his time off in Sevilla taking in the Feria de Abril. Here’s some more pictures of him posing with fans and hanging with Canelita and his brother in law Carlos. Canelita looks a bit odd with that patchy beard, doesn’t he? He’s not the beard-y sort in my opinion. Sese also posted a shot with Baptista and Joaquin. The other big news is that Marca revealed his new tat is a portrait of his dad. Story & video in the link. (Pix from Sese’s Twitter & GFSports)

There’s more information on the International Champions Cup including the news that Phoenix, Indianapolis and San Francisco will reportedly host the first round of matches. MGEF has been doing a fantastic job of keeping on top of this so I’ve included a link to all their info. There’s a couple of posts there with details and linking to news stories – make sure that you give everything a thorough read.

Raul Albiol posed in this shirt in support of a sick little girl, Alba Ojeda. You can read more about her story here.
BH_Y2MXCEAA0_8wMichael Essien has joined Twitter! His username is @MichaelEssien and he’s changed his Instagram name to iam_ess.

tumblr_mles4zpQbN1qh53lfo1_1280The Real Madrid online store released a new “fashion line” and you know what that means for us ladies… That’s right: pink! Because you know, we have no interest in our team’s actual colors and we want to make sure that people know we’re card carrying members of The Vagina Club. ::rolls eyes::
Mfing pinkmore fing pinkNow, don’t get me wrong. I like the singer and the color but it’s just annoying that whenever there’s a lady line, pink is the go to shade. Now my itty bitty niece looks super cute in her pink Yankees jacket and it’s her favorite color but she is a wee one and I’m a grown ass woman. Have some respect, you know? If our men were rocking pink, I’d be rocking pink too. But they’re not. Well, except for Sergio, but that’s something completely different and he doesn’t do it on the pitch. I’m just sayin, c’mon merchandisers, think outside my box, y’know?

Here’s a bit of pink I didn’t mind so much. Carlota Fabregas penned a sweet little blog post about her niece Lia’s homecoming (it’s translated in English at the bottom. She included this picture of Lia’s tiny hands. Awwwwww!

t_f_c_barcelona_cesc_fabregas-6002978And that seems like a good place to end a post, right? The promise of new life. I hope Lia grows up in a world that becomes a kinder, safer place than it feels right now. We all need to do our part to make that a reality. That’s one of the things I love about this place. We all come from different nations, backgrounds, races, religions, team affiliations, sexual orientations, etc. but we’ve carved out our own little peaceable kingdom. We’ve managed that by being civil and kind to each other (even when we disagree) and by choosing to focus on the common ground we have, not our differences.  So let’s carry that spirit into our daily lives (though I’m sure you probably already do, you charming open-minded sexy wonders) and lead by example.  I don’t want my world to be a shitty, scary place and I’m committed to doing my damned best to help alleviate that whenever I can. I bet you are too. So be kind, be gracious, be helpful, be thoughtful, be generous in word & deed, be safe and share the love.

I can’t today. That first photo of Sese in the tight black shirt… I just have to say that I need to wait till I’m home to read the rest of this post. Or else I’ll be staring at that man all day.

    Beautifully said Lozil!

I know this photo isn’t in this post (I think maybe it was in an earlier one?) but that photo of Sergio climbing over the rail in the bull ring – all I can think is “boy if you fall I’m gonna be SO MAD at you.” And then I’m glad all over again that he went with football and not bullfighting.

Sese in what looks like an under armour looking shirt is to die for…..god, could he get any more beautiful? What the hell an I going to do when he’s thisclose to me in a couple months? *shudders*

it was too cute to watch arbie teach the kids how to do cris’ free kick stance.

i also love that sergio posed for all these random people who asked. that’s really sweet of him.

ugh, no pink sports gear. i have never liked that assumption, for any team. though maybe iker will sport a pink jersey next season? if he did, i would.

Your last paragraph said it so eloquently for all of us! We love you, too, Lozil and Maisougio!

Our fierce Spartan with all these kids, so cute! Doing the Cristiano pose lol.

They should have gone with a shocking bright fuchsia instead of this baby pink.

Palermo play in pink and it looks great on them, but not sure I’d buy a shirt that looks like it belongs to another team. p.s well said Lozil!

      • headbandsandheartbreak April 18, 2013 at 2:51 pm #

Yeah, if I was a Palermo fan or our keepers decide to wear pink kits next year, then sure, but otherwise…

        • la-la April 18, 2013 at 3:16 pm #

Sorry, that didn’t come across very well, what I meant was I think its serious marketing fail to design a ‘girls’ jersey that actually looks like it belongs to another team! I’m guessing their marketeers, as well as having fairly crass ideas about gender also don’t know much about football

Seems like almost every sports team has pink lady jerseys. Watishista P and I were discussing this last night at a Red Bulls game (bless ’em, they DON’T have pink shit). She’s a Yankees fan and they have TONS of pink lady crap that she wouldn’t be caught dead in.

Surely the whole point of buying a replica kit is to, I don’t know, represent your team?! Just baffling. On a related note I saw a headline in the guardian today where a cardiff city fan (nickname: the bluebirds) said he wasn’t celebrating their promotion to the EPL afer 52 yrs because to him the team ‘died’ when they switched thier team colours to red following a sponsorship deal. Bit extreme there love BUT it shows that team colours are emotive

I would not object to the pink gear if part of the sales went to breast cancer programs. But I don’t think I would buy the pink gear. I would prefer the normal team gear with a pink ribbon logo.

And whilst we on about this (not really but anyway) don’t get me started on pink lego. SERIOUSLY, JUST DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT. I have NO kinds words.

I don’t have much. Just that freaking love all of you
