Friday Training, Presser, Call Ups & Concentracion

19 Apr

Good lord, y’all have been busy in the comments section while I was in meetings all day! And may I say, you’re all a big bunch of perverts. Good for you! 😉 This is another quick and dirty as I have to zoom out of here in 20 minutes. Aiiiiieeeee!

The team had their last training (with Casemiro in tow again) before facing Betis tomorrow.

Mou held his presser today and gave up the goods on Betis, his future plans, the Champions League and more.

Mourinho: “Betis are a good team and they are set up to win games away from home”
by Diego Jabalquinto

“The best thing for everyone is to get to the Champions League final, beat Betis and win the Copa del Rey”, added the Real Madrid manager

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (5)Real Madrid face Betis in their 32nd league game and José Mourinho has held his pre-match press conference. The Real Madrid manager spoke in these terms about the opposition: “They are a very good team with good players, a good manager, a good attitude and they are set up to win games away from home. They defend well as a team, they attack at pace, they have great individual players going forward…They are a very good team. It is a difficult game and I’m glad; I want them to finish well, but I hope that we can get a good result tomorrow”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (1)Regarding the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting 11, he stated: “He is in the squad. Those who are not are missing through injury and suspension, as is the case of Xabi. Khedira and Sergio Ramos have not been named in the squad. Casillas will be on the bench tomorrow. Diego will play, but he is fully fit to play. It should come as no surprise if Casillas plays one day because he is fully fit. It is ideal for me and for everyone that we have two fully fit goalkeepers like these and two good young keepers behind them”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensaThe team face the first leg of the Champions League semi finals next week and Mourinho said: “It’s different. It is a new experience for me because when I have reached the semi finals in the Champions League in the past, I was in the running for the league title and you want to do your all to win every game. I now have options depending on the importance and on each objective. I’m sure that if you ask the Madrid fans whether they prefer to beat Betis or Borussia, they will tell you that they want to beat Borussia, but, as a manager, I have to say that I want to win both games. I have to send out two teams to do the job, but we do have options. Khedira did not play against Borussia at home because he got injured over there and we missed him. He is a player who sometimes has a small physical problem and you can’t afford to have any doubt whatsoever. With Arbeloa suspended for the Dortmund game and the injury to Essien, we only have Ramos for the right-back position and we cannot take any risks. But we want to win both games”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (2)In reference to the semi final draw and tie against the German outfit, Mourinho said: “In the draw for the last 16 and the quarter finals, I was a bit nervous because there were some “accessible” teams and some “tough” teams. We drew Manchester and we could have got an easier tie; when we drew Galatasaray we could have got a more difficult tie, but I was calmer for this draw because I didn’t care who we got. They all have their own strengths, characteristics and problems, but they are all great opponents, and I didn’t care who we got. I want to keep the situation like this. Since the draw was made, Klopp has been making comments every day and I have kept my mouth closed. Today is not about Borussia, I have nothing more to say about that. On Tuesday, we will speak about this game, which is the appropriate time to talk about it. We have been preparing for this game quite a lot in the last few weeks”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (7)The manager was also asked about the behind-the-scenes rumours going around surrounding the team: “I am still doing my job as calmly as possible and I am trying to make sure the people here do theirs; but if we played for nothing, I would understand that they would look for stories which have nothing to do with football or the motivation that the people should have at the moment. We are in a cup final, which is a special thing, playing in Madrid against opponents like Atlético and we are in the Champions league semi final; we should be talking about football and the emotion surrounding the club at the moment. I think that there is more than enough of a reason to focus on that”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (3)Regarding his future with Real Madrid, Mourinho explained: “I have already said that my relationship with the President, with José Ángel, with the board and with the club in general is very good, which means that we can sit down and calmly negotiate the best thing for all concerned. Sometimes there are problems between clubs and managers when situations like these arise, but there are no problems for me or them. We have a good relationship and we will calmly reach a conclusion, whatever it may be. But there is one thing that is best for everyone: to reach the final of the Champions League, beat Betis and win the Cup. This is obviously the best thing for everyone and for anyone who loves Real Madrid. We will then make a decision”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (3)To which he added the following regarding his own situation in Real Madrid and the objectives: “I don’t talk about being unhappy. The decision has to be the best thing for everyone. No more, no less. It’s quite simple. I may like some things more or less, but it happens everywhere. The perfect club, the perfect manager or the perfect situation do not exist. We are getting on with the basic thing which is ending the season strongly and trying to achieve things which are more difficult than they appear. For example, we were 13 games away from the Wembley final and now we are two. The immediate objective is to win tomorrow. To try to reach the Champions League final, try to win the Cup final and then decide what is in everyone’s best interests. We want to end as strongly as possible and when we sit down, we will draw conclusions”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (6)The Real Madrid manager was asked about the comments made by the President of Canillas, Manuel Álvarez, in which he stated that he would not be Real Madrid manager next year: “Speaking about Canillas is like talking about a second home for my son and for me of course. But it is club with a small problem and that it the President loves the press and being the centre of attention. He is brilliant person; I’ve only got nice things to say about him and how he has treated my son, but he has that small problem”.

Mourinho_en_rueda_de_prensa (4)In conclusion and when questioned about the influence of football in society, Mourinho said: “Football cannot be compared to social, political or economic problems. For me, football is nowhere near as important but it is an incredible cultural and social phenomenon which produced unbelievable magic, and it is able to achieve things that politics cannot sometimes: making people smile, making people forget about their problems, creating a thrill…it has an inexplicable factor which makes us what we are, because we are not special people. I hope that, if we can help in any way, it is the Madrid fans who are given this kind of thrill and special happy feeling”.

The following players have been called up:

Goalkeepers: Casillas, Adán and Diego López.
Defenders: Varane, Pepe, Carvalho, Marcelo, Albiol and Nacho.
Midfielders: Kaká, Özil, Modric, Callejón, Di María and Casemiro.
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuaín and Morata.

The team has now made their way to the Sheraton Mirasierra for some strip Parchis and relaxing until right before tomorrow’s match.

Here’s some footage from yesterday’s Corazon Classic 2013 presentation. Mmmmmmm, Zizou.

And finally, as was pointed out in the comments section, Karim got someone to take a photo of him throwing the shocker, intentionally or unintentionally, we know not. Well, then, that’s the weekend started!

532738_445884618836323_1763743765_nLater or tomorrow, peeps! I have to leave the office right on time today. Apologies for the rushed post, it’s been a zoo of a day!

Am I the only one who is upset with Mou because he is sitting Casillas? I hope, I apologize before I say it, but I hope Mou is gone next year. I don’t know if I can go through that again. It’s like watching the Arias trial…

Seriously?! You’re comparing a highly paid player who has returned from 2 months out for a serious injury and who is just sitting on the bench at a sports match to a woman who brutally murdered her boyfriend by shooting him the head, slitting his throat and stabbing him multiple times? For reals? Don’t you think you’re overreacting just a bit? ::shaking my head:: Some perspective is sorely needed,.IMHO.

Can someone please explain to me what Benzema’s hand signal means? I don’t think I know that one.

We can only hope that he doesn’t either. The ‘shocker’ is a sexual thing and where the fingers are… inserted… and I’ll refrain from detailing that. I wouldn’t recommend looking it up either. Ahem.
