Goals for Days…

Can I get a Woot Woot for Saturdays? Yes ma’am, this shitter of a week is over! I woke up feeling like I could finally exhale and it feels good, it feels so good that I thought *Hmmm…why not, finally, put some game posts together that feature so many pics & gifs, that it will probably take 10 minutes to load, once published.* So here that post is….just let your internet connections do what they do, for a minute, before you start scrolling 😉 Or count 50 Woot Woot‘s, or ogle them champion calves up!

Starting with the more recent match…Bilbao is up first! Check out this adorable little fan. The kid is my hero, making his way to the bench, letter to Iker in hand, and making Pipa his messenger…I’m a little jealous. I’ve never wanted to be a little boy before (I tried to make that not sound weird…there’s no way) but I’m pretty sure, only the littles could get away with what this kid did. If I made my way to Madrid’s bench, I’d most likely end up tackled by security, and it wouldn’t be as cute a scene as it was for Mr. Ledger in 10 Things. I never was fond of running bleachers…anyways, this little fella had a happy ending to his venture. Pipa was a successful letter carrier and Iker proved, once again, why he’s so deservedly loved by all, by delivering a signed jersey to the itty bitty.

THAT SMILE!

So you’ve had your dose of cute, are you ready for some woof? Why yes, I do mean some Fernando Llorente. I don’t like heights, but if given the chance, I would CLIMB. THAT. TREE. Wouldn’t we all??

Maybe he’s not your cup of woof….if so, here ya go. Bottoms up! This is the view we get from streams, which isn’t bad, but….

Sergio Ramos, Ibai Gomez

….I want this guy’s view! I guess the dude got a taste of something he liked, because he was suffering from some mad, separation anxiety for the rest of the match. Poor guy.

“Come here. I love you. Now.”

And just one more shot of Sergio, because you can almost see cheek with that high kick! I am not ashamed!

Ok, onto the goals! Cristiano mustered up his free kick super powers, to kick the match off to a roaring start, with a fabulous goal in the 2nd minute of play.

You know you’ve done good when the unemotional mister is moved.

See the classy man, directing pitch traffic? Yep, he assisted Cristiano’s 2nd goal, the header that took place well into the 2nd half, in the 68th minute.

A good move by Mou, came in the 71st minute. Pipita came on for Benz & scored after just five minutes of being on the pitch.
Check that swipe to the left corner! OOH-WEE!

Despite Pipa’s post-match face, it was a good victory.

Real Madrid's Ronaldo is seen during their Champions League quarter-final second leg soccer match against Galatasaray in Istanbul

Oh Galatasaray, oh Champions League…ya loved giving us a scare, didn’t ya? It’s an odd feeling to have advanced even when we lost the match, and without the striped man above, we absolutely wouldn’t have made it. Matches like that one, make me appreciate our beast even more.

I actually can’t believe my eyes, I can’t believe I’m seeing more than a little leg from San Glow White! Has he ditched the tights for good?? Kidding aside, it breaks my heart to see San Iker looking out over the pitch, in that way. 😦 I love me some DLo saving power, but Iker is Iker, I want to see him in the starting lineup again.

Things slowed down after the opening goal, we definitely weren’t moving in the right direction, and late in the 2nd half, shit happened. Eboue equalized in the 58th minute and Sneijder & Drogba followed up with two more goals in the 70th and 72nd minutes. Things got worse before they got better, Arbeloa got himself sent off & we were down to ten men in the 90th minute. FINALLY, salvation came three minutes later, via Benz & Cris. And then that fuckin’ whistle was blown, normal heart rate established, once again.

The last minute horror show almost ruined me & my ability to enjoy some good, Benz shirtlessness. I said almost.

So this is the first I’ve seen of these matches since I’m always at work during them on Sundays and Wednesdays (or on the field on Saturdays).
Is it weird that what struck me most about Cris’s freekick goal was that he didn’t hit it like he normally does? Normally he hits it with his laces, straight on. That’s what gives the ball that knuckle-ball effect. Zero spin on the ball creates a TON of movement. But this one… He Beckhamed it. Side of the foot, put spin on it, and bam… Into the top corner. Beautiful. No less amazing than normal, but perfectly placed and not his usual…

I have seen him do it a lot of times… with his John Wayne stance, he just kicks the ball where he wants it to go and then hit the ball.

      • mygypsyspirit April 20, 2013 at 4:25 pm #

His John Wayne stance is just his stance. It’s got nothing to do with how he strikes the ball

    Marcelo is broken again. 😦

    • futbolfan April 21, 2013 at 5:26 am #

Omg. That was heartbreaking. He seemed sooo upset. And Mou’s reaction…and Marcelo stripping off the captain’s armband while stretchering off.
Wth was up with that game in general?

  3. CinematiqueChic April 20, 2013 at 10:38 pm #

Greatest thing about the Bilbao match besides winning it was definitely all the Sergio-Llorente touching. So. Damn. Attractive.

That gif of Modric holding Cris’s hand after the Galatasaray match is priceless! I’ve never seen such terror on someone’s face before, he looks like he’s clinging to Cris for dear life. Meanwhile, I still can’t deal with that match. It continues to cause me anxiety. Maybe that’s why Luka looks like that?

  4. MissLadya April 21, 2013 at 5:07 am #

Touché to the kid for getting his letter hand-delivered to Iker! … But, is it just me, or does he look a lot like that evil neighbour kid from Toy Story??

And am all sorts of mixed feelings concerning the Lopez/Iker situation. Diego’s done so well and I find it would be unfair to just drop him now that Iker’s fighting fit … but on the other hand, it’s IKER. Him being in goal is a given. (Meanwhile poor Adan’s all, “Seriously, guys, WTF??”) But I do hate it how people are hating on Diego. Yeah, fuck him for just doing his job for the team, right? It was reported yesterday that he might have been injured and some fans were going, “YES! Now Iker can play!” Are you fucking kidding me? Never mind that it was a false scare and Diego’s fine, but who actually celebrates a player being injured?? Some “fans” are just so messed up 😡

    • CinematiqueChic April 21, 2013 at 12:00 pm #

I want Iker to play more than anything, but who the eff roots for our own keeper to get injured? That is just messed up. Plus, Diego has been amazing these past few months!

    • maisoun April 21, 2013 at 1:31 pm #

Omg! I totally see Sid in him now hahaha I hope he doesn’t have any Iker dolls…they’d need protection! 😉

  5. futbolfan April 21, 2013 at 5:23 am #

Omg. Cris nudging Varane and showing him the cut on his knee? That gif is too much. And the look on his face, like, “look what they do to me” AHH!
    Just…AHH to this whole team.
    Hala Madrid.

  6. jellyace April 21, 2013 at 9:31 am #

I laughed at how di Maria leaped onto Cris and Cris caught like a mom catches her child, and carried him in that side hip thing that moms do!
