5d9ee0d2b04811e2a45222000a9e06f4_7Ah, Sunday. Hope everyone enjoyed their day. Mesut seemed to be enjoying his curled up on the couch with puppies Rocky & Balboa. Adorbs!

Here’s a couple more tiny bits & bobs, including the ever popular puppies and bebes!

Iker gave us a grimace and a photo of the ‘canine version of Hannibal Lecter.’

cea19570af7311e2b4ea22000a1fbdb0_7c7f1f2faacd111e2ac8422000a1fbf16_7Ana Sofia posted a sweet compilation of her ‘two loves’ Pepe and baby Angeli.  I love seeing Pepe with his daughter. Hopefully, we’ll get many more pictures as she grows.

BHxHc8uCEAELjxNAnother Pepe spent the day with his family: Pepe Reina. He posted a picture from Knowsley Safari Park with wife Yolanda and kiddies Alma, Grecia & Luca. I’m guessing new bebe Thiago was either home or in a car seat in the back. I love how the girls have little leopard print schmattes on their heads.

164992_459958414074288_2057076598_nToday is the birthday of the ever adorable Juan Mata! He posted this shot on his way home from Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Swansea.

af37befcadf311e2816122000ae9081c_7Sese posted a shot with Iker, Cris & Pipita and this caption: ‘We need your support more than ever, together we can…!! Hala Madrid..!!

Khedira (1)Khedira: “The Madrid fans will give us wings against Dortmund”

“This club has seen many a magical night at the Bernabéu and we are going to do our utmost to add another to the list”, the midfielder assured us as he spoke about the semi-final second leg

Real Madrid players and supporters are readying themselves for an epic match at the Santiago Bernabéu, in which they will set out to turn around the Champions League semi-final against Borussia Dortmund. Sami Khedira commented on the role that supporters will play in an interview for Bwin’s website: “They will support us 100% from the kick-off with total conviction, as they always do. I have nothing to worry about in that respect. The home crowd’s support is crucial in these matches and it can be a decisive factor. I am convinced that the Madrid supporters will give us wings in this match too.”

Khedira knows all about the legendary comebacks the White team have staged in Europe and he exudes confidence that this is going to be a remarkable duel with Borussia: “This is our last chance to get things right again. In the first leg we didn’t convince as a team and we played a weak game. Now we have to achieve the impossible. Real Madrid have seen many a magical night at the Bernabéu, especially in the European Cup. We are going to try to add another one to the list and we will be aiming as high as possible”.

KhediraThe Real midfielder believes that one of the keys to this match is going to be scoring in the first minutes. “Scoring an early goal will be vital, but we have to keep a cool head as well. We have to find a happy medium. The Boss has set us up really well for this game, because if our opponents score early then we will be under still more pressure. That’s why we will be doing our best to put Dortmund under pressure up front, but not from the first minute as a game lasts 90 minutes and we have seen how quickly they can score one or more goals”.

As well as scoring goals, Mourinho’s men will have to watch out for their opponent’s power in attack: “In any Champions League match it is always important not to concede goals. Fortunately we scored one in the away leg, but we have to win by three goals and Dortmund are very solid in defense and defend really well. We have to try to attack them in a very controlled and concentrated way, but we will also have to keep it tight at the back and win 50-50 balls”.

Real Madrid have gone 40 games at home without a defeat; on their home ground they are especially strong. “We feel even more confident in front of our fans; it is a great feeling to play knowing that your supporters are right behind you, we feel right at home when we are playing here. I am certain that on Tuesday we will play a great match, but it will a big ask because it won’t be enough to scrape through 1-0, we will have to be on top form. We will set out to maintain our great run of home results”, said Khedira, who advises taking things one step at a time and not thinking about Wembley for the moment: “Now is not the time to be talking about 25 May, we must get this semi-final out of the way first. Many have written us off already. Considering the first leg result that is understandable, but we have to defend the Real Madrid colours and live up to what is expected of us. All I can think about now is turning this semi-final around.”

Asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s vital role in the team, the German player said: “Everyone who knows him realizes that he is always geared up for every game, no matter if it is a decisive one or a game where there isn’t much at stake. He is a great professional, like all his team-mates, but we are going to need him and his goals more than ever on Tuesday. We all hope we can put in a good team performance.” As for facing his team mates in the German national squad such as Reus and Götze, he had this to say: “I know them very well, they are great players and great people, but the fact that we play together for Germany counts for nothing, what counts is that it will be either Real Madrid or Borussia who will run out winners on Tuesday, nothing else matters.”

Today’s dismal 0-0 draw between QPR and Reading saw both teams relegated. This leaves El Pirata’s future up in the air. Watishista mygypsyspirit and I were whining today about how much we want him to come back to Madrid. Heck, if that’s not in the cards, I’d just be happy for the poor guy to be somewhere that he can play lots of good first team football and he’s appreciated. A few days ago, he posted a series of pictures of his books calling it a   “Tribute to those who have accompanied me this year in London.” Somehow that just broke my heart.

Oh Pirata! I want a great club to snatch you up and adore you in all your hipster perfection. They’d be damn lucky to have you.

– Lozil

That Mesut has got to stop being so sexy. This woman can only take so much!

To me he’s looking more and more like Bruno Mars!!! Hawt!

So much canine and child cuteness!

El pirata’s book list made me both happy and sad. But I’d still curl up with him and read hunter Thompson, if he promised to read me Neruda.

Waitaminit! Just WHO is driving the Reina car? The only one with hands on the steering wheel is Luca and he’s all of what…two?

Haha, this made me laugh out loud! well eh may have inherited his father’s safe hands…

There are kids all over the drivers seat — left, right, center. Gosh, I hope they were parked!

Luca inheriting his father’s GK hands…umm…what a thought!

My heart fell apart when I saw all those books on Instagram. And after the loss to Dortmund, he twitted that he had faith in Real and the Mister. I want him to come back so badly! He deserves to be some where he’s wanted!
A great club in England will also work for me, but QPR is just wrong on so many levels!

I hope he is able to sign a contract at a team he’ll get the playing time he deserves.

Juanin was soooo close to getting a bday goal yesterday.

I just want to applaude you (Lozil & Maisougio) for not posting anything on the whole CR and Miss Bum Bum nonsense – I think that was a brilliant move!
You would think that the tabloids would have learned their lesson by now – CR sues them and always wins – how hard can it be. However, it seems that he himself wrote the message on facebook (due to spelling and grammatical errors) to deny the story and Irina (for the first time, I think) posted a photo of the two of them together. We, however, know the truth and you don’t have to read the bloody interview to know that it’s made up (her story didn’t make sense, IMHO).
    Sorry about my rant.

Regarding my favourite hipster, El Pirate, I was sad to hear that QPR was relegated and even more sad knowing how much time he has spent on the bench. Reading his tweet after the CL- semi final, gave me new and increased hope that it is indeed possible to reach the final – just what I needed.
Read somewhere that if QPR are relegated, he can leave the club according to his contract – maybe/hopefully then the relegation his a good thing. I sincerely hope that RM brings him back home. We NEED him.
Please come back home, el Pirata (*sobs*)

    ¡A remontar en el Bernabéu!

It’s just so ludicrous that a professional of his caliber who is known to be one of the most driven players in the game today would risk not be rested and ready for a Champions League semi-final because he was schtupping Miss Butt Brazil. I mean, it beggars belief. The guy is SO disciplined when it comes to football that it’s unreal. Why dignify that tabloid crap? Even if by some weird twist of fate (again highly doubtful), he did boink her, I’m 200% sure he would have waited until after the match. All you have to do is watch how hard he pushes himself and how upset he is when he loses to know where his priorities lie. I just found the whole thing stupid.

      • Luz April 29, 2013 at 9:56 am #

You’re 100% right – he’s so professional and wouldn’t risk not being fit/ready for THE most important match of the season for a one-night stand.
I just got SO angry when I read it….trying to harm him and his reputation before the game tomorrow.

I really just want El Pirata to get GOOD playing time. He is truly better than what QPR have “done” to him. He belongs at a CL level club. Or a club that is at least on their way there. For all the LFC fans that want Xabi back at Liverpool, I think Pirata would make a worthy replacement in his stead.

    • CinematiqueChic April 29, 2013 at 9:32 am #

Yes! Pirata to Liverpool! That would be almost as good as him coming back to Madrid.

      • jellyace April 29, 2013 at 8:10 pm #

I think he’d be happier in Chelsea so he can hang with Mata and Azpi.

        • CinematiqueChic April 30, 2013 at 12:50 pm #

I want a Pirmata reunion like woah, but he probably wouldn’t get much playing time at Chelsea. Liverpool has a strong squad now but they still need to improve and I think would be more open to including him on a regular basis.

          • headbandsandheartbreak April 30, 2013 at 1:00 pm #

We call ’em Estejuan here. 🙂 You’re right though – I don’t think that he’d get much time at Chelsea. I’d love to see him hanging out with David Luiz though.

            • CinematiqueChic April 30, 2013 at 1:29 pm #

Oh Estejuan IS a good one! Well played.

Yeah, he would fit in with the Chelsea boys so well! But bromancing fantasies aside I really hope he finds a squad that he fits into where he’s needed and appreciated. He deserves that.
