Training, Chatting, Getting that Iker FaceTime, y MUCHO MAS

15 May

Look at those defined calves!! Just kidding, you know I’m only looking at Pipa’s ass, but I must say…that thing is de-FOINE also 😉 Today the boys trained for the second to last time before Copa del Rey Friday (it’s like casual Friday, but not). The team is getting ready! Are you guys ready?? All I know is that all Madridistas deserve to see drunk Xabi this season. We’ve earned it with all the ups & lots of downs. I want the bus. I want the people. I want the confetti. I want Sergio to do something stupid. I want the drunk Xabi. I want it all. I want it allllllllll and I want it nowwwww!

It was a rainy training day, too bad they weren’t wearing white, huh? Ya get me? Yeah, you’re here, of course you do. Since see through training gear was a lacking, the good news was that Sergio & Marcelo worked their way back into the group for training, which means all hands on deck for the final. Varane began his recovery work, following his surgery.

There is even more happy news for Marcelo fans, seriously, who isn’t a Marcelo fan? He made the cut for the 23 man Brazil squad, for the upcoming Confederations Cup. Hosted by his home country, the tournament will take place from the 15th to the 30th of June. Ahead of the tournament, those called up will play in two friendlies, against England on June 2nd and France on June 9th. I am ready for some NT action!

Clarice, always proud of her man, dressed up the pooch family in support of his call up with a whole lotta yellow and green! Too cute. I can’t get over the little Brazil dress!

Making sure we’re all pumped for Friday, Crissy spoke about getting ready for the final & the need for fan support.

This Friday Crisitano Ronaldo is playing his second Copa del Rey final in barely three years. The Portuguese forward played a key role in the last final, scoring during overtime the conclusive goal with which Real Madrid took the title in Mestalla against Barcelona. This year’s final will also be special for him, mainly due to the possibility of winning a title in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. “We have to start off strong, just like this club, the best in the world, knows how. Having the Bernabeu divided 50/50 isn’t going to take away our ambition to win this Copa del Rey. We’re ready and excited at the prospect of winning this title. I hope that on Friday the bus gets a reception similar to that we experienced against Borussia Dortmund”, he revealed to and Realmadrid TV.

The team has worked hard to get to the Copa del Rey final. Now it’s time to win…

We’re very excited about this trophy and we want to win. We know it’s going to be a really hard-fought game against a rival from the same city. It’s going to be a great show. Let’s hope that Real Madrid can win.

It’s your first single-legged final in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, which will be divided in two: half Whites and half Atletico. Why is the full support of the fans going to be so important?

It’s going to be a strange final because we’re playing in our stadium but the fans will be divided 50/50. That isn’t going to take away our ambition to win this Cup. We know that the stadium will be divided. Let’s hope that the best team wins. If we go out on the pitch strong and we play as we know how, we’re going to win.

Your bus is going to arrive at the stadium from Concha Espina Avenue, as it did in the second-leg match against Borussia Dortmund. Was that reception special?

It was amazing. As long as I’ve been here I have never seen a reception like that. It was a really special, unique moment that none of us players will ever forget. I hope that the same happens on Friday because it motivates us to give our all when we hit the playing field. That’s what we want.

You’ve scored 200 goals with Real Madrid and one of the goals that are most remembered is from the Copa del Rey final in Mestalla against Barcelona. How are you approaching the match against Atletico?

I’m approaching it as I do any other match, but with added responsibility. Psychologically, I go into all matches in the same manner, but this is a final. It’s a special match, but my ambition will always be the same: to help Real Madrid as best I know how, which is trying to play well, scoring goals, assists… I’m not worried and both my teammates and I are playing well. We’re ready for Friday. We have to start off strong, just like this club, the best in the world, knows how.

Pipa did some chatting of his own, sizing up our rivals for the Bwin webpage.

Real Madrid is playing a brilliant Copa del Rey and this Friday they will play Atlético de Madrid in the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the tournament final with the goal of winning the title. Gonzalo Higuaín analyzed this decisive game for the Bwin web page. “I hope we win. Afterwards the goals won’t matter if the Cup is ours. If I get to score, that’s great, but our mind is on winning the game,” said the forward, who referred to the role that Ronaldo and Falcao will have in the game: “Of course they’re going to be important, but the key is for the team to be at its best, and that’s what we’re trying to do. If we can do that, we have great possibilities of the Cup being ours.”

The white team wants to win their 19th Spanish Cup this Friday. “I hope we win, that would make us very happy,” Higuaín emphasized. Both teams have great resources on the attack, and about whether getting ahead on the scoreboard will be decisive in the final, he said: “It’s always good to start out winning, but we have to stay calm and go out to play our best starting from the first minute and show who really wants to win this Cup. Obviously, I’m for Real Madrid.”

Atlético de Madrid has been putting up a very serious defence this season, and the Real Madrid forward had this to say about it: “If Atlético has fewer goals against them, it’s because they’re playing well, but our idea is to look for their weak points, which they have. And I hope that’s reflected on Friday and we can take it.” Mourinho and Simeone will go toe-to-toe in front of the stands. Higuaín indicated that “they are great coaches. So it is going to be an exciting match between two life-long rivals, a Madrid derby, and I hope the winner is our coach, because that means that we are going to win the game.”

The game will be played in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, but Higuaín made light of this factor favouring his team. “The only thing that counts is that we play in our stadium and I hope we can use that factor, but later it will be divided up half and half, so I don’t think it’s going to have an influence.” Finally, when asked about the 2011 Cup final in Valencia against Barcelona, he acknowledged that “It brings back very good memories about our rival in that game, because it had been a long time since we had won a Cup. The truth is that it brings back very good memories.”

Now, for some Iker face time! Capi posted this shot on Instagram, promoting his new Head & Shoulders ads. We’ve seen him take part in this cute commercial, but these new ads take a different approach. He be on his suit & tie shit, tie shit, all prettied up & sporting his serious face, oh and there’s the fact that I’m not exactly sure what’s going on, but it’s cute seeing him fake his nervousness while being tested. I say fake, because we’ve all seen him under pressure and Iker has a cool that can’t be lost….unless he’s not able to get your attention….GUUUUUUTIIIIIIIIIII!

And finally, Michael Essien is hyping up his Game of Hope event with help from his RM buddies & daddy. The match, taking place in Ghana on June 8th, will support existing charities that focus on the youth, by inspiring them to make changes in their lives, moving towards peace and hope. Essien has gathered 100 footballers, current & ex players, to take part in the match. You can get more info from his website or the event’s facebook page. The first video is of Essien speaking about why he created the Game of Hope and the following two are of some of the boys supporting the event. Listen for Cristiano’s “Game of OPE” and the adorable English coming out of Marcelo & Ozi. I really can’t decide whose English is cuter, I’ll have to watch the vids a thousand times more!

Oh, boys, why so adorable? Marcelo’s reaction when he gets the words right is great. I love it.

I love Iker’s ads, too. I have no idea what they have to do with shampoo, but… whatever. Suit, tie, capi… awesome.

All those doggies in Brazil kits! That’s adorable – that whole family kills me with cuteness!

I’m SO nervous about Friday. We should win. We can win. And yet, I have a great fear that we will not win. I just have this horrible feeling that the story of Atleti going14 years without a win against us, and winning for the first time in a big match like the Copa final, is just too tempting for the footballing gods.
