Full lineup of teams announced for ICC

NEW YORK, NY (Saturday, May 25, 2013) – During its broadcast of the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League final, FOX officially revealed the eight clubs that will participate in this summer’s Guinness International Champions Cup.  The tournament will be played from July 27-August 7 in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, New York, Miami and one European city.

The teams are Chelsea, A.C. Milan, Valencia, Everton, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus and the LA Galaxy.

The eight teams featured in the tournament represent some of the world’s largest and most successful clubs.  Real Madrid is Spain’s winningest club with a total of 32 league titles and nine European Championships.  Likewise, the Galaxy are Major League Soccer’s most successful club and have won the last two league titles.  Inter Milan, A.C Milan and Juventus together have on a total of 64 Serie A titles while Milan is tied for the most international cup trophies.  Spain’s Valencia has won six La Liga titles and reached a total of seven European tournament finals.  Lastly, Chelsea has four English Premier League titles, including three since 2004 and seven F.A. Cup titles while Everton has lifted the F.A. Cup five times in its history.

The full tournament schedule, venues and ticket information will be released on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

So it looks like we only have a couple of more days to wait and see where RM will be playing. The shitty part is the bracket is being released the same day as the ticket pre-sale starts (May 29). Doesn’t give anyone much time to get their plans together, now does it. Argh.

I’m very excited. That’s a great bunch of teams. Last time I saw Real Madrid in the flesh was when they came to Toronto that one year on preseason and they’ve never been back to Toronto since then 😦 it’s a long weekend here aug 2-5th so I can’t wait to see what the schedule looks like. Hopefully tickets are easy to get. **fingers crossed**

Whoever has been planning some of these friendlies is doing a big disservice to football fans in the US. These tickets will probably be expensive and people who want to go will be scrambling around trying to get their plans straight. You know I still don’t have tiks for the Spain game at Yankee Stadium. It’s all very upsetting.

Ooops, I just checked and those tickets are on sale. They went on sale while I was in Mexico and I forgot to check back and post on it. 😦 Sorry. Making a post now. I got mine on a pre-sale from watishista P who is a Yankees season ticket holder.
